The kids are amazing, but I'm not sure I like it in English. The translation is not the problem, but it doesn't sound as good when I can understand what they're saying -- maybe that's because then I find myself concentrating on the words and not the music.
Brings back memories. Great susanna! Figaro could be more truthful. Susanna has him around her finger but he doesn't seem to care. He could project more! But still for his age wonderful.
I don't have a daughter, but if I ever do I hope she turns out as beautiful, talented, and cultured as yours, mshorts. You have every reason to be proud of her.
Where did those kids come from? Were they imported from Europe? Nobody in schools around here have voices like that! Kudos to those schools for having music programs in the face of repeated budget cutbacks! Many school districts want to eliminate music programs altogether. This is why they shouldn't. Thank you for posting.
@carrotjuse Thanks for your kind comments, however the Peninsula Teen Opera is not a public school program. It is a regional private program funded by tuition and private donations. Alas it has shut down after the 2009-2010 season.
My daughter, who was 14 years old at the time of this performance, is now studying voice and opera at the Jacobs School of Music at Indiana University.
What a cute scene! And I hoped that this is from the woodside high school around my home. I want to know where this happened. Nice about the Figaro, Mozart. I liked it!!!
I don't normally post comments to youtube; however, I was amazed by this video. My congratulations to these performers. What school is this? We did several operas at Whitney Young H.S. (Mrs. Obama's alma mater); however, we specialized in the arts. Bravo! Brava!
Real nice! It's the first time I hear Cinque, dieci, venti, trenta from Le nozze di Figaro in English but I love it. Very very good. My congratulations!
wow congratulations to your daughter and best wishes for everything in the future. A voice like this at such a young age is astounding!!! She'll go far!!!
She's got talent and a pleasent personality for the stage.I think she would prove herself a bright prospect for future.Formation of an Opera performer requires great deal of discipline and study which doesn't happen in a quick time. Hope she will stay in the path for that great achievement...Wish her very best in the future..
Very good...tell your daughter to go and take it to the next level. Make her sing the queen of the night arias...or better yet tell her to try O zittre nicht. I hope you post it here in you tube. Thanks for posting.
please please do NOT touch the Queen of the Night Aria until you are MUCH MUCH older. It is an amazing aria but very challenging and takes years of training and becoming comfortable with kind of technique before you should even touch it. It can hurt a young voice and do terrible things if approached too early. She does have potential if she keeps on the opera path, but please be take time to study first. But wonderful sound! Keep up with Opera!
You ARE crazy. Many great adult sopranos can't even sing the Queen of the Night. Many can only sing it for a short time in their careers and then retire the role because it's so demanding, even the greatest. To try the Queen of the Night at THIS age would be SEVERELY damaging to the voice. The voice isn't an instrument that should be pushed too hard.
you really know nothing about opera do you? queen of the night is known by many as the MOST DIFFICULT EXISTING SOPRANO ARIA!!! If you want to give this girl vocal nodules then you have problems.
Voi Che Sapete isn't from Don Giovanni, it is from The Marriage of Figaro as well. It is sung by Cherubino, a breeches role (which for those that don't know is a mezzo-soprano who's character is a male). He is about 13 and he sings Voi Che Sapete, though of course the actress is female.
Mr. M shorts. Gracias, gracie , merci and of course THANK You. You should be proud!!.

What are you crazy? Singing Queen of the night needs alot of more skills than this! :S
Etyde 4 years ago
I agree!!! Let's leave it to this level for now. When she matures and with constant study she will become sth special, but not at that level now!

as well you should. has she ever sung "la ci darem la mano" which was also in that play? It is one of my top opera songs ever.
I also enjoy listening to Voi Che Sapate from Don Giovanni. If she does you should record it :)
