  • Excellent!!!

  • People are people they live, they dream, they die. Different cultures to be sure but people all the same.

  • i am yet to here a song he cant sing

  • lmao. John Paul Jones is an ancestor of mine. My father named me after him except no space in JohnPaul.

  • great job on this video - and I like the comedy relief "he sailed to the east and he sailed to the west" - the little ship buzzing back and forth. It may not have been intentional for comic - but it's cute. Love the song, love your video.

  • Great song.

    George Vreeland Hill

  • @misterBlinkytheGreat Yes, I do realize that I made a mistake. I thought I remove the sentence about how English is heavily influenced by Latin.

  • "I HAVE NOT BEGUN TO FIGHT".The famous words of John Paul Jones,But wasn't heard when the Bonhomme Richard was getting pounded by the Seripes was down on the Richards gun deck a crewman was heard to say "DON'T YOU THINK IT IS ABOUT BLOODY TIME WE DID "and the rest is history.

  • Very Catchy

  • He took the war to the enemy's homeland with daring raids along the British coast and the famous victory of the Bonhomme Richard over HMS Serapis. Bonhomme Richard began taking on water and fires broke out on board, the British commander asked Jones if he had struck his flag. Jones replied, "I have not yet begun to fight!" In the end, it was the British commander who surrendered.

  • Best Russian Admiral to ever fight the Turks...

  • 70 people are awesome.

  • EVERY J.Horton song is pure genius !

  • Awesome Video! i have a CD of Johnny Horton songs, this is Too Cool! Hope to see more great stuff like This! Thank You!

  • @presidentmorrow1 Hahahaha what?! John Paul Jones was British, not American. What shows the character of America is the fact that almost no Americans are actually from America and they're all British, Spanish, French and african. The buildings in my town are older than America...

  • @MisterBlinkyTheGreat Let me guess, you are from someplace in Europe.

Guess what? All your most distant ancestors came out of Africa. They didn't spring up spontaneously in the place where you now live. The whole history of Europe is one of movements of people, new nations being born, old empires collapsing, immgration, and assimiliation.

You know what else? I've been to sites in Iraq that predate anything resembling civilization in Europe.

  • @ewancummins Oh wow, Captain Obvious. The fact is, there is no true american; all of americas original settlers are practically extinct and the entire country is made up of already developed countries. I have no clue why you would try and challenge such an argument with ancient history thats almost entirely irrelevant to relatively modern history. Again, iraq is obviously predated. You miss the point completely. America is a 200 year old nation, its history is ridiculous.

  • @MisterBlinkyTheGreat "America is a 200 year old nation, its history is ridiculous."

America was settled in 1608 by the English at Jamestown - that's 403 years by my math.

  • @TheBullionBull My god, are the stereo-types really true? are you all blithering idiots? SETTLED/COLONISED. America(USA) became a nation when they won the independence war. holy shit. When i say 200 im not being exactly specific, but it is around 200... dammit, do they have schools over there?

  • @MisterBlinkyTheGreat The history of a nation does not only begin at the start of its present-day political organization. If that were true, the history of the English nation would begin with William of Orange. I am, in fact, much more educated than you are, especially on matters of history.

And before you call Americans idiots, your computer and the internet was designed here.

  • @TheBullionBull You have just gave me the ability to call you stupid. The internet was never "designed" you retard, it came about by the linking of many smaller networks across the world. My computer? the thing designed by Alan Turing born in London, England, UK? You clearly are not as educated as me with that ambiguous bullshit. The "united states of america"(the nation) became recognised in 1783; an inarguable fact. This argument is just one spastic after another.

  • @MisterBlinkyTheGreat Do you even know what a nation is? We had governments here before the 1783 Constitution.

Anyway, the first modern computer was developed for the US Army artillery in 1946 at U of Pennsylvannia, not in London. It was called EINAC. The internet was developed by the US government in the 1960s. I know the Brits still have this left-over mindset from the 1700s empire days that they are responsible for everything in the world, but sorry its no longer true.

  • @TheBullionBull How much simpler do I have to put this?! why dont i write it in a nursery rythme for you? AMERICA became known as the USA in 1783, the constitution by the way was in 1788, you were recognised in 1783. Do you know what the word "ambiguous" means? Let me tell you the FIRST EVER programmable computer designed was by charles babbage from London. If you want to be so literal and ignore "ambiguous" the most fundamental factor for the internet was developed by donald davies who is welsh

  • @MisterBlinkyTheGreat You mean the computer you are referring to with the ability to connect to the internet using technology HEAVILY developed by Bell Labs? Or do you mean transferred over fiber developed by Bell Labs? Or do you mean, accessing content hosted on servers using Unix based software developed by Bell Labs? Yeah, you are right, many achievements in the computer world can be accredited to the English, but don't go spouting your uneducated tripe without knowing better.

  • @TheDwyerdude Why dont you people know what the word AMBIGUOUS means?!!?! Notice how I can give you examples of British and German developments while you give equally valid american ones? The computer came from the combined effort of scientists from all kinds of nations, The computer was never invented, it was slowly built upon by many countries. Dammit.

  • @MisterBlinkyTheGreat I've changed my mind. You are too silly to be European. You clearly have almost no understanding of history. You hate America. Your English sucks. You must be from the Bay Area. :)

  • @ewancummins You evidently have no clue how to argue with a valid, relevant point and instead turn to petty insults. How you can say my English sucks when I am from England and you are from America which uses a ported incorrect version of MY language is beyond me. I dont hate America, I hate how you people in particular have this absurd mentality; like the guy that claimed America invented the computer?! Your peoples intelligence is simply too low to comprehend. Your "English" sucks. Fuck off.

  • @MisterBlinkyTheGreat Hahahahah my uncle teaches in all over the world and says that we are the most stubborn people to teach and i think u guys did invent it first or the germans but we did make a computer to calculate the possibility of deaths for d-day

  • @MisterBlinkyTheGreat The computer was a international invention. However, Edmund Berkeley, a American, created the first personal computer. I think people do not realize that a personal computer is only one branch of the computer tech tree. Also, English is heavily influenced by Latin. Also, modern day (UK) English is different from the original English. Thus, you are basically using a ported incorrect version of English as well.

  • @ewancummins this is the best shit i ever herd

  • @MisterBlinkyTheGreat For all intents and purposes, he was a naturalized US citizen like so many others. By the way, nationality says nothing about "character".

  • @RevengeOfTheKaizer I understand its difficult to understand undertines in text since you cant hear my voice; i wasn't being literal, more metaphorical.

  • @MisterBlinkyTheGreat Where are you? Did human life sprong from the site of your town? I have rocks in my area that are older.

  • @ScabiousGarde Once again; missing the point completely, a rock is not a mark of civilisation for goodness sake. Im making the point that america is a country that developed absurdly late and that it has no original residents, they all consist of that from other nations. How difficult is that to understand?! Again not speaking in the literal/scientific sense. Rally some brain cells before you comment...

  • @MisterBlinkyTheGreat East Africa is believed to be place where mankind originated. How difficult is that to remember? Rally some brain cells before you comment. I am acting like a jerk but I am only doing it so you can stop being ignorant.

  • @Normacly Youre not acting like a jerk first off. I am aware of the natural migration of humanity dammit. Im am talking from the sense of CIVILISATION. What I mean is, America consists only of people who did not naturally migrate there, people from already developed europeon countries. The reason i am so adamant for this argument is because im sick and fucking tired of your retarded citizens verbally assaulting me because im british for no fucking reason despite me being friendly.

  • @MisterBlinkyTheGreat You seem to forgotten the Native Americans. UK is virtually the same as the USA. Hence, the word Anglo-Saxon could tell you that good amount of "native" British people are a result of unnatural migration.

  • @MisterBlinkyTheGreat You did take Madonna away from us, so there's a positive aspect of the Brits.

  • @Normacly Serious arguments on Youtube? Seriously?

  • John Paul Jones may be remeber best for the famous words that he said when he was asked to surrender that his reply was"I have just begun to fight!" and that tells of the character of America.

  • Jon Paul Jones was more of a mercenary than anything. He fought in the US Navy but still served for the French and was a admiral in the early days of the Russian Imperial Navy where he fought the Turks. Still, as someone mentioned above, many consider him a pirate more than a US Navy captain.

  • @redarmyofficer1941 When other captains were clamoring to enter the lucrative prospect of privateering for the U.S., John Paul Jones chose instead to remain in the Continental Navy, a much less prosperous career. His loyalties never wavered during the Revolutionary War. He went to Russian with Jefferson's blessing in the hopes that Jones could gain experience commanding a larger fleet. While he may have terrorized the British, he was far from a mercenary who went wherever the money was.

  • @redarmyofficer1941

Maybe he just loved to kick ass.

  • anybody no that flag i think it's the first navy jack please correct me

  • tough MFer

guy raided English coastlines and fought HMS ships in their home waters

  • we all do epictrollbeastman

  • I read a book about Jon Paul Jones. Called John Paul Jones a Man of action. He states that he was considerd a pirate to most of our people. Do you know the recor album name is which this song was on.

  • @Sarge239 Johnny Horton Makes History - A tale of battles, heroes and epic events

    Thats the album, enjoy :)

  • @Sarge239 Actually he was more of a privateer rather then simply a pirate. The main difference is while they do rob ships they are restricted to whom they raid and they get permission to whom they can rob and raid. Incidentally he also fought on the Black Sea against the Turks for the Russians too, though I'm not sure if he was a privateer or a naval officer.

  • @schizoidboy Oh I know about JPJ. I read a book aboutwhich I own. And thats what it told. It's a great book. I did learn alot more about him than I realt knew. It's one of those pices of history that never gets told the way hot it happen.

  • The 1959 movie, John Paul Jones stars Robert Stack. Admiral John Paul Jones, USN is buried in the chapel of the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland

  • Thanks for using the photo of JPJ and his crew fighting HMS Serapis!

  • Never heard this one before. JP Jones was a B.A.S.O.B. Wish we had an artist and patriot like Mr. Horton around today
