  • Grimacing Brendel and playing Osukaro?

  • lol

  • HIS FACE makes this SUPER FUNNY!

  • 00:36-00:47 lol! Thats funny shit!

  • Did he used to be Japanese in his younger days.....?

  • Beethoven and Schubert would have laughed - believe me. Even Bach after some beers...... Cheers

  • It takes a professional like this to make a technically brilliant mess of this music

  • This was pure genius!!!! Hahahahaha!!!!!

  • haha...it's out of tune...

  • Youtube---home of the feebleminded.

  • hahahahahahahahahah this is class

    Update!

  • Great! Brendel, admirable pianist, satirically demonstrates here what we have known all along that Beethoven really is: empty bombast. To recover from this: listen to Brendel's heavenly interpretation of Schubert's Imprompty Op 90/3. Now THAT is a composer, THAT is music and of course, that is Brendel in all his splendour.

  • @doenog Schubert is shit on Ludwig's shoes.

  • @doenog Oh, don't let them laugh at you. This is not Alfred Brendel. It is just a fake for joke.

  • @zzausel All right, I get it. Anyway, the intention of the joker is noble: Beethoven deserves shredding.

  • @doenog

I think Schubert would be very offended by your remarks on Beethoven. Even if you adore Schubert.

  • @lovethepiano Perhaps. Probably because Schubert had a delicate and refined personality which boorish and rude Beethoven could only dream of. As for empty bombast: listen to the ending of his 5th symphony yawningly boring (para bostezar!). As for his boorish attitude: read the history of the Diabelli variations, which Beethoven wrote to show off and humiliate Diabelli. Musical bullying I call this.

  • @doenog Schubert frequented prostitutes and died because of it. Refined indeed.

Oh and his music was shite...

  • hahahahah this is great

  • hahahahahahha

  • hahahahhahahahahha

  • AHHAHHAHAHAAHHAHAHAHA holy shit, I just laughed so much I began to cry uncontrollaby and had to stop the video after 40 seconds

  • I heard a Brahms quote at 1:13, is the Scherzo?

    Very funny =]

  • Best rendition of this bagatelle ever.

  • This gets funnier every time I watch it. When I was practising yesterday, I actually found myself playing bits that I could remember. Fun, fun, fun! But it's the face that gets me. Bravissimo to the uploader!

  • The part around 1:28 reminds me of something from Debussy's Pour le Piano.

  • better than Brendull anyday of the week

  • I like him more in his older days

  • Sounds like a poor midi track pasted over the visual replacing the original sound track. This is nothing but a joke and not all Alfred's Brendel's recording lol!

  • @Blackmarket1975 hmmm... really!

  • @Blackmarket1975 Whoa! Good catch!

  • hilarious!

  • Did anyone catch Brahm's Scherzo in E flat at 1:12?

  • 1:15 onwards is cool, i like the way that motif develops...

  • This makes me feel better about my own playing.

  • What is he actually playing? Great video btw :D

  • Holy cow! I had no idea Eric Morecambe could play like that! Chece out DrWho on some of the "Stephen Hough" videos too.

  • I think the tape is played the reverse.

  • this is really so fun !!! please do more ! please do gould

  • That is so mean. Its gonna take days for my ears to heal.

  • omg it is sooo out of tune :)

  • Some one has dubbed a nonsense piece onto whatever he really playing.

  • i think this is not really for piano or? it seems like wrong to me...

  • I've really enjoyed reading the exchanges re: this recording. Would anyone care to tell me what this piece is please...via an e mail? Thanks so much.

  • the thing i enjoyed the most was all the silly peeps thinking this is real !

  • there are very interesting harmonies.. but the rest is not serious :) great.. 5/5

  • He enjoys his playing very much!

  • The young Brendel looks funny

  • i think it's because his glasses...

  • 1:41 hahahaha

  • haha! did you play this youself? XD very funny!

  • It does sound out of tune

  • Pretty sure the problem is with the quality of the transfer from what appears to be VHS. The way the notes decay is unnatural-sounding.

  • Exactly! I transferred it from a worn-out VHS.

  • Comment removed

  • It would appear that you've contradicted yourself. I wasn't referring to the lack of decay, but to the audible "warble" of the decay, which you're pointing out to be "wow". The fact that it comes from a VHS is entirely relevant, particularly because it's from a worn-out VHS, as "wow", which is caused by jittery playback, is much more obvious on a tape that's been played over and over to the point that it becomes stretched out to some extent.

  • Comment removed

  • According to an article with pages upon pages about maintaining archival-quality VHS tapes: "Tape, being a long plastic ribbon, can contract and stretch

depending on temperature, humidity, cassette tightness, and

tightness of your rollers inside your VCR."

Read that section, it specifically uses the word "jitter", even. Presumably, "cassette tightness" degrades after many playbacks of the same tape.

  • is it just me or is this piano out of tune

  • If you think this improv is bad, you guys should hear the Stan Kenton plays Wagner album. The man has his orchestra literally "scat" Siegfried! hahahahahaha

  • Here is an example why classical music should be taken very seriously by serious musicians of any kiind...blues rock pop.

It has the highest levels of musical virtuosity.

They cant jsut brush it off saying " its just your taste. my taste is different"

I mean, this is if they consider themselves to be 'serious" musicians

  • HAHAHAHHAHAHHAHAHAHAH

  • OH MY GOD HAHA

  • Fabulous! Fabulous! Alfred rocks....

  • 5/5 and favorited !!! :D

  • from 0:35 to 0:46 its pure jazz !!!! listen!!!!

  • Alfred Brendel can come over as the purist's purist until you see him skitting his pretentious colleagues like this.......!! (or as we say in Lancashire....taking the pi**!) Pure magic!!!

  • :D You're right! Could be written by Scott Joplin.

  • This is shite!

  • hilarious and brilliant. :33 is a special moment. this is much more subtle than most shreds which makes it all the more hilarious. challenging my bladder control with this....

  • Comment removed

  • bravissimo!!

  • ...hehe,nice music,played byy bllendel...who iss dhe composell?

    nicce bllendel san....

  • i think this is the best interpretation of Alfred Brendel!!!!

  • That work of art makes me laugh until I cry each time I look at it, and I have watched it a few times.

    Thank you!

By far the best Shred on youtube.

  • thank you! :)

  • You don't get it. He isn't parodying the music, he is parodying the pianists, both with the pedal, the fingers, the facial expressions, the stature. It is an inside joke and it is friggin hilarious.

  • I think he was so constipated and hes desperately trying to get rid of that impacted fecal bulk by this powerful piano vibrations.lol

  • he looks like bill evans on pills in this video

  • lol that was very funny thank you^^

  • The best rendition ever. No one can play better this masterpiece. Believe me.

  • 1:20 isform brahms scherzo

  • I love Brendel but... I don't like this!

  • this isnt real

  • Not even Beethovens masterpieces are safe from parody... how sad.

  • harharhar

  • haha yeah this guy is a goof ball

  • @AltarOfTriumph meh, grow a sense of humour, dork.

  • @AltarOfTriumph go home

  • interesting. thanks for uploading

  • sehr witzig, das ist nicht Brendel, der spielt. (Photoshop).

  • What piece is this? Or is this an improvisation by Brendel?

  • whatHElolisThis?

  • Was ist dieses Werkes Titel? Ich habe noch nicht gehören...

Das ist ein wenig witzig... :-D

  • the marx brothers would like this version

  • sounds like CD,, good!!

  • hey it's not brendel playing ! listen

  • really? is not?

    you're a genius

  • Lol,, they should make one of a guy called richard clayderman,, moreover,, he is a shred himself,, lol

  • Interesting interpretation.....

  • THAT was done on purpose!!!

  • genius. they even made the pitch of the audio wobbly like an old VHS of a performance.

  • BAHAHAHAHAHAHA this made me crack up out loud at work

  • hope you did it during your break?

  • No. Definitely not during my break.

0:33 to 0:40 had me dying.

  • glad to see you're still alive lol

the face at 0.35 fits well with the music hehe

  • hahahah

  • That's one of the funniest things I've ever seen .. this is very clever ..

  • i like the little reference to Brahm's Scherzo, haha.

  • Were those weird sounds coming from the piano or from Brendel?

  • I have heard Alfred Brendels orginal and it have really a mistake by you version at 1,24 but it can by the piano sometimes it will not play "mechanics problem maybe?"

  • I like you Improvisation at 50 better as

    Beethoven it have more poem.

    I cannot stop laughing.

it is super as a joke !!!

    Nice work! Nice work!

  • I'm Jan Ladislav Dussek!

  • Seriously, people! The video and the audio are not the same performance. Someone either mad genius with too much time on his hands has synced a Brendel video with a brilliant parody.

  • This is the best performance ever of this masterpiece.

  • seriously people...

Work out what 'shreds' is please.

  • what a freaking dork.

  • Aha this guy is just having fun, after years and years of practice he can sit down and just play!

  • Thats just this. He's just having a little fun. Would you want to be too profoundly emotional when you want to have fun?

  • OK, OK. Points for you but generally I don't like this pianists sound very much.

  • Ok. I tend to avoid Brendel anyway. Its just that we need to still respect him. :)

    I like his Schoenberg.

  • watch?v=vP8TUe993uo

  • he's playing all the right notes. not neccesarily in the right order

  • OMG He looks so nerdy, it's almost scary...

  • What's that of 0:50?

  • ???? Now this performance soud stereo. Brendel is like a good Wisky. Her recordings soud better with the time. Prost.

  • really? - but your comments are not like that! ;))

  • WHAT is he actually performing??????

  • Beethoven Op.126 no.2

  • and...brahms scherzo es moll

  • He's improvising inspired by Op.126. He's having fun, and is terribly clever. It's not great playing, of course, but remember he is making it up.

  • The video is actually available here on YouTube:

    watch?v=WZYpzdtDyYc

    The bagatelle starts at 3:46

  • Haha, really accent at 1:20

  • Oops, I meant: really NICE accent at 1:20. And at 0:55!

  • Very funny! Could be more in sync...

  • What's the name of the piece, and who is composer?

  • OlegGultayev (1 mese fa) Mostra Nascondi 0 Contrassegnato come spam Rispondi | Spam Wats the name of the piece?????????

Comment: "Never read if not necessary"

  • That's incredible . he makes me think of m.myers too;

  • brendel is the worst pianist i have ever heard in my life - fortunately only in recording...if this is not him playing we are perhaps fortunate...i just dont understand why anyone likes him!

  • I second that.

  • thats it......but this piece he plays pretty nice,or?LLLLOOOOOOOOLLLL

  • listen to something else from him .he's a great pianist and has played really wonderful things. This one doesn't sound good .The playing of arrau in boston is rotten for waldstein though he's a monument :))

  • his facial expressions made me seriously lol

  • God knows what happened to him that day.. It's like he put a bag full of money on his car roof, and than forgot about it and just drove himself to this concert

  • at 42 he looks kind of evil

  • hahahahaha, it's true !!!

    What a face !

  • Hey wait a minute... After reading GolbalHuntMan's commment, I'm starting to feel that Alfred Brendel is quite mean. Yelling at a lady in the audience just becuase she had a slight cough.....

  • Wait a minute... Who should I trust people?? Globalhuntman's comment or who??.......

  • he's not the only one - Keith jarrett's even worse. I can't understand why people so entwined with the spirit of music can feel so dispirited - I also get frustrated when i see grumpy music teachers...WTF!!!! It's like having anorexic restaurant critics - why would you do the job???????????.

  • People!! THis is not Alfred Brendel's recording. He is a "FAMOUS" pianist and wouldn't play like a child, such as this video

  • kiddylady is considering,how exciting!!;)))

no idea from anything but a big mouth, yea, bingo!

  • this is awful

  • Genial Alter!

  • Wats the name of the piece?????????

  • Austrian Rhapsody op.166

  • Holy cow, what the hell is this? Brendel pulling a Dudley Moore?

  • I love Brendel , but this is hilarious@! I'm sure Brendel would laugh also..

  • I don't know how willing he would be to join in on the laughter. He's a pretty mean-spirited guy. At a concert of his I attended, he stopped playing to yell at and completely humiliate this frail old lady all because she had a slight cough. She started to cry and then got up and left the auditorium.

  • Sorry you had this experience. Seems like he's given everybody that showstopper, he did it at Chicago at a concert I attended also. We should check to see whether it's the same old lady! you never know when people need a crutch! But seriously, he can get po'd sometime too though.....

  • Really ?? He dared doing it . I 'm very disapointed. I never would have thought he'd be able to do such a thing .

    If you listen to z666z666z, you'll guess it's a day he didn't masturbate :))))

  • Good for him! Someone NEEDS to tell people to quit with the coughing already. If you've got a cough then stay home.

  • he would. he often makes fun of himself ...

  • This is where Osukaro edited the video to make Alfred Brendel look goofy! This is not the original!!!!!!

  • This is the original version of the video. He looks goofy by nature, I didn't have to edit anything, you giant douche...

  • This is the best rendition, ever, of this masterpiece.

  • i prefer Jimmy Saville's

  • Herein the combination of Beethoven's magnificent musical architecture, along with the stunning technical virtuosity of Brendel, serves to create one of the most memorable performances the concert stage has ever known. It is indeed hard to imagine a finer performance of this timeless masterpiece.

  • ...a m e n !!!

  • ahahah

  • I don't recall this from being from any of the sonata movements.

  • oh it must be an ingenious improvisation.

  • LMFAO i love his face expressions xD!!!!

But this song sounds very nice ^^

  • hahahahahaha.........thats it! ;))))))
