yeah, I know people have said it, but a light kit might help you on indoor shots. Or turn off your ND filter or something. And if you have a plasma tv, you won't get those wavery lines on a tv in a recorded shot. Just a little constructive criticism.
Hi there. Thanks for the feedback. I agree that the indoor shots were darker than I would have liked. A lot of that had to do with the time constraint we were under for the contest when we shot it. However, I think most of the indoor stuff looked pretty good. The notable exception being the "Labor Day" scene where they get the phone call.
This version of the movie is also pre-color correction. There's an updated version which has a lot of color correction and it addresses all these issues.
I just saw your thread that this film was shot upside down using a special rig. Why not just flip the image during editing? Interesting twist for the movie! :)
Hi there. Thanks for the kind words. Flipping the image in post takes time to do, and can (in most cases) require rendering. Because we had a limited time to make this movie (48 hours), we just flipped the camera and got the source correct on tape. It was a minimal hassle and I'm glad our DP (Chris Barcellos) set it up that way.
Success in achieving emotional depth in a short film which appears simple on the surface but a lot of creativity, skill and excellent performance has come together to build that.
simple truthful and surprisingly moving. A beautiful little film.
