Is this girl stil like flying ? Beutiful music - it is right one for dreaming about flying. Anyone who flew some nice and happy flight at sunny day is then looking to sky :-)
Most of my hero's in life were inventors so I made an Octave Chanute type bi-plane glider but I built it without any plans, I took it up to a small cliff and ran and jumped off hoping for a short flight but instead fell screaming like a woman to the cold hard ground below
I imagine it was from both a lack of good wind and the plane was over weight is my guess.
I will live this dream soon. Have a man giving me my first hang glider. He flies it regularly so I know it to be in good shape. He is going to teach me every step of the way. As a grown man, this realization almost brings tears to my eyes. If you believe, You CAN FLY!
@sentidoenelamor Thanks for the kind words. Not sure about the source for the background music. Came with the DVD when we had the 8mm home movie converted.
Yes they did...the kid was too light, it was tail heavy...easy to see...It meant that it had a positive pitching moment...better than negative...no roll to the sides because it was tethered by the two wings...light wing loading great AOA, slow to fly and even descend vertically quite safely...But you missed the point man...this video is about emotions, dreams, happy memories of times gone...a much simpler world...
I can testify that this is the real McCoy. The builders of this fine aircraft were my brothers and the little Amelia Aerhart is my sister. It brings a tear to my eye to remember those days of our childhood. Glad we can share it with you on film. Mary Lokken
Hey Mark, how are you and your brothers getting on? I am Dale, John's brother. We met in Oshkosh about 300 years ago, John just sent me a link to this site, and thought I'd say Hi. get my e-mail address from John, and keep in touch.
In 1970, I read Jack Lambi's article about how to build the Hang Loose for $28.00. I was 9 at the time. Now, almost 40 years later , and after almost 3,000 hours spent hanging from dacron and aluminum wings, this video reminds me of how it all started. Thanks form the memories.... Did you continue with Hang Gliding or other forms of aviation?
Yep still flying and dreaming of flying. In the 90's we built a rubber band plane you can ride in. It was made frome the wings of a Lazair. Will have to put the video on YouTube someday. Would love to here about your adventures. Keep the dream alive.
Is this real or not, because if it's real you are my hero. I have wanted to make a homemade flying machine for2 years and you can easily do it. I am 12 and 75 lbs so I want to make one too. I am in flight school so I know a thing or two about aeronautics.
Yes this is for real. The commenter below "rentatrip" knows the designer personaly. You should contact him to see if you can buy a set of plans. I am so pleased that you are interested in this. This is a great way to learn about flying and do something fun. Let us know if you have any questions. Sincerely Mark Lokken
This video came by surprise, as i was searching for r/c paragliding video's. Very Very nice made at that time
BUT what me interested the most is that your last name is LOKKEN can you tell me if your family-background is original from Holland cause as seen on the video it seems to me it's not made in the Netherlands.
So back to your lastname, the reason I ask this becaus my mothers name is also Lokken that's why.
@hnkvanderlinden01 Hello Greetz, My ancestry is from Norway. My grandfather moved to Wisconsin when he was 15 years old. There is a school near the farm there called Lokken. It is near Oslo. A flyer visisted my fathers farm when he was young and got him and eventully me and my family interested in flying. My Dad found the Hang Loose plans and supported us when building it. It was a great project for a kid before there were video games and such as a distraction. Thanks for the interest.
Soo cool

@IronicallyVague But It wasn't a total loss as I stuck the plane in a tree by the side of the road and wrote
"handyman, house painting and cheap flying lessons call Me at #444-4444"
Made a fortune & at least I joined the ranks of those who tried & failed...
