  • this is not old gymnastics is very old gymnastics

  • @SuperNonhuman it's not that old

  • 0:27 that guy 1 gravity 0

  • most hardcore (and similar to today) are the rings

  • The guy in the "102" suit is pretty tough.

  • wtf they had chinese get up in theyre routines? lucky :P

  • these guys are so respectful! doing routines like that with that kind of apparals, with no protections and no grips.. they were so brave

  • wow they had a big crowd there for gymnastics

  • isnt it hard to believe some of the stuff they are doing in this video was some of my level 7 warm ups?

  • Comment removed

  • this music is awesome!!!

  • at 5:44 on the pb i think i recogognized my h.s coach edward scrobe ..

also look for abe grosfield i beleave he is here as well..

  • Wow... They all suck!!!

And gymnastics is not an outdoor sport!!!

  • @TheBlehh010 hahah i'm very impressed with their skill considering they wouldn't have had much safety equipment like foam pits .etc!

  • wow if they didn't put it in slow motion I envy the 102 guy...

  • yay, they handstand like me :D surely bending the back like that though makes it so much harder to hold on the rings?

the the ring sequence is slowed down, you can see by looking at the straps when they go slack.

    the floor routines were... interesting.

a lot better to train outside i think :)

  • Wow the floor routines had alot of yoga poses back then.

  • i could stab them into their back for doing those hollowbacks -_-

  • It's cool how they did it outdoors back then, it would be cool it they did that now days.

  • they had slow motion in 1936? damn

  • i dont know look at the scenes in "slow motion" where crowd is behind. people are moving normally. if it is like this then those guys were much stronger that today gymnasts? just my opinion i dont claim thats true

  • but some of them must be in slow motion especially where those guys are jumping or swinging

  • Excellent video, natural sportsmen (no drugs enhanced) and very good not boring camera unlike today's hi-tech production.

  • Exactly

  • they got amphetamine back then too...

  • LOL

  • lol the pommel circles have no stretch at all

  • That guy at 3:55 o.O

  • cool video, thanks for posting it.

  • 1936!!!!!!

  • i feel like im watchin people strectch

  • Do you still think, the USA created Breakdance? xD

  • created in the bronx

  • my.. how gymnastics has evoled.. LOL

  • his floor looked like he was just stretching haha

  • lol yeah it does doesn't it... :D

  • Must admit that this looks kinda weird and gymnastics changed alot in the past years...^^ I think funniest parts of all is what he wears on the rings ^^ looks like normal trousers and that belt made me laugh ;D

  • i cant believe its outside!

    lol ;]

  • that was awesome, we have come a long way in 70 years! imagine what they will be doing in another 70 :)

  • i dont like the floor its boring but now its like my favorit. the rings look soo hard.but just to think about it those people are prob dead.

  • hoho so interesting and exotic lol

  • a lot of yoga poses on the floor routine

  • the floor is kinda boring to watch but its amazing to see how far the world of gymnastics has come since then.

but wow does that pommel look a bit wobbly? lol and u gotta love the back lever at 3:04 ;)

  • This would be a light and easy warmup for today's gymnasts.

  • except 4:01 - 4:16

the inverted down to cross straight body was sick!

  • lol i couldnt believe that dude at 5:45-5:53 did a peach on pbars

  • 3:27-4:52 Alois Hudec (1908-1998), Czechoslovakia, gold medal on gymnastic rings in Berlin 1936, 9,8 points

  • haha.. well you know how she's good at making propaganda movies... who knows how you will come out lol

  • In that case I hope there isn't a BW film out there somewhere of her giving you a....

  • lol I don't think Leni Riefenstahl would mind... but pls don't tell her just in case haha

  • WTF

  • ok?? but he is

  • OOO!! SOO Hard and Scary!! A dog pose!!!

  • is that supposed 2 b hard on like 1 17??

  • ooo... downward facing dog pose

  • lmao is this outdoors? and wow these guys do nothing hahah great vid

  • omg!!! ah no grips on giants on highbar!!!!

  • bs???

  • bullshit

  • my grandfather is the one at 3 43

  • BS!!!!!!!!!

  • Is he the one who is hanging upside down on those rings??

    Haha what a poof!

  • I like the background music^^

  • wow still looks really hard

  • and outside with no spring mats, they should it like the old days again. Doubt these kids can take it though :-)

  • the stuff is so random

  • wow sooo hard lol

  • I really like it! Does somebody know the names of those men? I think they were amazing :)

  • okay..these guys are too strong for human beings..there like the next hulks!

  • uhh they're dead. so there's no 'next' to it

  • doing this is anything but easy

  • the sport was completely different because most of gymnastics was held outside. The technique and form is totally different.

  • Wonder what girls was like! Gymnastics really was a lt easier back then. Wish I lived then!

  • more doping today i guess lol

  • ohmfg. no grips.

  • Thats pretty cool man. the first guy on p bars :O

lol if the olympics were still like that i could do pommel horse and floor :(

  • haha yeah... gymnastics has advanced so much since then.

  • haha nice checkere(moore) on p-bars lol

  • i kept expecting them to do giants on the rings...

  • Grips anyone?

  • WOW... I say bring back the one armed handstand on pbars! lol. All up I reckon that was level 2 floor and at most, level 6 for everything else.

  • lol i almost fell asleep watching this, very interesting though..

  • you could tell who was German. Basic.... I can't do that stuff really. They didn't have tumbling back then? I saw them do a performance but was it really not the developed?

  • Where did you get this footage???

  • I usually enjoy my homoeroticism a little less blatant and with a touch more emphasis on hot Nordic Supermen than what is featured here.

  • no disrespect to you being gay, but this is hardly the place to be making these kind of comments.

  • Those dudes are ripped.

  • nice slow mo for that time one must admit

  • did you see how packed the stadium was? i'm so glad gymnastics of my day was so much more advanced. can you imagine what will be required of gymnasts in 20 years? wow.

  • wow so basic back then

  • yeah i know.. but everything starts from something ;)
