The odd part is in the middle of his speech he actually gets it right: "You've beaten my giant, which means you are incredibly strong, so you could have put the poison in your own goblet, trusting on your strength to save you".

@sirdaveo In that scene Vizzini said that he could not pick the glass in front of Westly, and he could not pick the glass in front of himself (for multiple reasons each). The real irony of that scene is that he was completely right, he could not pick either glass because they were both poisoned.
