  • Guess who the housing/financial bailout helps?

    HOLLYWOOD!

Section 502: $15 million to film and TV producers in tax relief per production.

Think of THAT if you lose your home.

The Senate expanded the bill 3 pages to 450 pages of PORK.

Hollywood refused to give to labor this winter (shutting us down), yet gladly TAKE from USA? Greedy hypocrates.

    1) ALL major news REPORT on this atrocity!

    2) America, report on & BOYCOTT productions taking this $.

  • Where can I contact writers or hollywood?

We have to stop making mixed martial art movies -- beyond the ring, never back down.

Please check this out. Make it stop... Make it stop.

  • ...

  • the "somebody else will take your place" is the stupid studio arguement, because studios think we're disposable...these people can barely write their names yet they have no respect for our work. And that's why they feel it's okay not to pay us. After all what do we do? They do all the work. ALONE.

Well keep up with the attitude and you will end up alone. AND ALONE YOU WILL WATCH YOUR FILMS or PRODUCTS as you like to view them.

  • Ooh, I know! They could have their lawyers write for them! After all, they seem to be paying those guys really well.

  • In the words of Peter Griffin, "Swe-e-e-e-e-e-e-e-e-e-et."

  • The actual writer of those words famously shuns guilds...and he's a bad writer too.

  • You don't have to be an official writer to write good scripts.

  • It was the networks that fired the assistance, the writters are just asking to get some money from mediums that wernt their when the old contracts were drawn up. (eg, Internet). Also, wanting 0.6% of DVD sales rather then 0.3% hardly seems extravigent considering how much they contribute to the finnish product. (remember, DVD's cost about 2 cents to make physicaly...the rest goes to the distributor). I dont see how the writters are "uncaring".

  • Where are the voluntary members of the Directors Guild? It is pretty much their fight as well. Expecially for 2008....

  • so funny!

  • Keep posting guys! This is doing wonders for your brother unions outside of the big two.

  • Next time you need a script...call an Executive Producer...

  • I hope the strike is settled by Thanksgiving or Christmas!

  • Did a writer come up with this idea? because, this is pure gold. Star wars rocks. POWER TO THE STRIKE!

  • Why do you call yourselves "writers guild" not "writers' guild"? It's a guild OF writers, right? So don't you need an apostrophe? I can understand a bakers' guild getting it wrong, but you guys make a living from writing yet you mispunctuate your guild's name? Am I missing something?

  • "Writers" is being used as an adjective here, I believe, rather than a noun.

  • Thanks for your reply, but:

    "Have a writers day now".

Nope. I don't think writers is an adjective, it just doesn't work.

"See that chick? She is so writers I can't stop drooling".

Hmmm. Aren't adjectives those words that describe things? Big, small, red, hot? Writers is a noun.

  • Wow, you'd think you would have looked it up before responding in such a condescending manner, especially when you're wrong.

    Google "Possessives versus Adjectival Labels"

Hell, you could have just Googled "Writers" and "Adjective" and gotten your answer.

  • I tried replying to this already. Looks like the comment didn't make it.

Thanks for the definitive answer. You're right, I'm wrong. I guess I learned something today! :)

  • wgaamerica... Writers' guild of America America .. redundant?

  • I think any writer-producer who honors their contract is doing the right thing for the industry as a whole and everyone involved. That's all I will say.

  • Hey Blackrubberbag... are you RETARDED???

  • Yes, he is. He thinks employers should have the right to exploit their workers in the US, like slave labor in a third world country.

  • No he doesnt, in fact he waqnts to know why writers think their above the other contributers. Its their work too.

  • Maybe you're retarded too, along with being unable to spell "wants", "they are" and "contributors" correctly.

The writers create the ideas. Always have and always will.

  • OOOOOOHHH forgive me oh great MadScout for not proof reading for typos on a stupid YouTube post. Actually never mind, I dont care what someone who goes flinging the word retarded around thinks anyway.

Writers are PAID to create the ideas. Furthermore they are usually only fleshing out ideas already given to them.

  • "Writers are PAID to create the ideas."

You are retarded. Shut your asshole, sit the fuck down and read, if you can.

TV and film writers often write spec scripts, meaning the work they write ISN'T dictated by the powers-that-be, who have the right to buy the product or otherwise.

If they do, they pay the writer, whether or not the script gets produced. If the powers-that-be have an already conceived idea, they choose a writer or two to write the script.

    Got it?

  • Spec scripts are rare, 99% of all writing that makes it on the air is an idea given to them to flesh out.

    "You are retarded"

    "Shut your asshole"?

    Sigh

Your a vulgar fool and I tire of conversing with you. So continue to fling me with dimwitted and low brow insults but Im not going to respond them again.

  • And in closing you should be ashamed of yourself for using the word retarded as an insult.

  • Oh, I'm so scared of an illiterate...

  • It depends.. is it an insult as an adjective describing the noun or pronoun???

Dumb fuck... Dumb - being an adjective, Fuck - being a noun.

    Get it?

  • Said the chump. :D

  • No, just a lazy troll, who apparently doesn't want a honest answer to the same irrelevant questions s/he cuts, pastes and posts every day.

Doing the same thing and expecting a different result is the definition of "crazy" in some circles, blackrubberbag.

    GO WGA!

  • Hehe, brilliant! And sadly, realistic too.

  • Keep up the good fight!!!

  • And what have you done that's so great, you chump?

  • Brilliant. :)

  • Hee! That's awesome, and oh so true. Without writers, Hollywood is nothing.

  • Well probably because he lives in NORTHERN CALIFORNIA, not Southern California. They're called maps. Smart people use them.

  • Well, the way I see it is that the strike is not really affecting Lucas becuause of all the money from the Star Wars movies.

  • They do all the work? I didn't realize that the ideas for several movies and shows I like have been suggested by producers. More often then not its those very producers who screw up the shows and movies and make it suck.

Also, plenty of writer-producers are not crossing the picket lines... do you think they're morons as well? Or is it really that George Lucas got so rich off his good trilogy that he completely lost touch with the world?

  • listen you uneducated hack. You are missing the point. The point is that only a retard would use a George Lucas movie when trying to make a point about the WGA. Get over it.

  • DJOO! DJOO! AHAHAHAAHA

  • A galaxy without writers would be full of reality TV, which sounds a lot like hell to me.Spin off Kid Nation: Infant Nation, Survivor: Iraq, American Idol-Sanjaya marathon, Dancing With the Stars (warning: may not include actual stars)!

  • wow i love you guys (:

    dont give up!!!

  • cute

  • NEVER GIVE IN

    YAYYY

  • Excellent! Hang in there!

  • It's a simple equation: no writers = no content + no shows = no moulah. Wake up Disney, Viacom etc. Do the right thing and start sharing those golden eggs instead of starving the geese that supply them.

  • You guys are genius. This is the best Star Wars spoof I have seen. This makes me appreciate the writers even more. Keep going. Don't forget to ask for some more on DVD residuals. 8 cents out of $20 from a DVD? Are you kidding me? Ask for more. If you need help, contact Steve Carell. I heard he's grown some larger brass balls.

  • And that movie would still be better than another season of "Skating with Celebrities"
