I've seen My Sassy Girl. It's such a perfect comedy. The melodramatic part comes suddenly but it ultimately works in context of the movie.

The quasi-prequel was funny but didn't work out as well as a film for me because events didn't match up perfectly. It also made it seem like she should of learned the lesson she learned in My Sassy Girl already because of the events in the prequel. I forget what the prequel was called actually :-D

Some technical questions - this sounds wholly unlike any traditional Chinese singing. Mandarin (like pretty well all languages from that part of the World) is tonal - the same sound in different tones means completely different things. I suppose that presents opportunities and challenges in fitting lyrics to melodies, or is there more poetic license given?
