  • i would try and mix in local soil. if possibe add any type animal manure. you can doit without soil if you compost it for a long tie. dont forget to add the minerals in like rock dust.

  • Can I strictly use all my fruit and veggie peel waste. Or do I have to grind up dirt with it? I'm trying to get good soil without having to buy it.

  • great video. :D

  • @MrBroegner I have done that before. We call drowning the plant out here.

  • Nice videos. My son and I each have organic garden channels. Check us out at cfenster for mine and my sons is dpfenster09. Subscribe, rate, and comment if you like!

I look forward to seeing more from you this season!

  • is TreX (wood composite) o.k. to use?

  • What is "chicken wire" made from, and why won't it contaminate the soil?

  • Thanks

  • to preserve teh wood, you can use a product called cedarcide. It kills all insects and preserves the wood from rotting. It is an all natural product made from cedar trees. I use this product myself and even on my pets for fleas. This is a great product that will last.

  • Thanks for all the great tips your awsome and your advice was really helpful...God Bless!!!!!!

  • your van is awsome!

  • There is a quite effective method which has been developed in the 1970s in Salzburg (Austria). Dig a tree halfway flat into the ground and cover it with the earth from the hole. This will greatly absorb heat from the sun and is an excellently nutrified ground to raise lettuce and similar vegetables. It will work for 6 to 10 seasons (depending on the tree's size) with the wood slowly decomposing and heating the soil on top of it during the night.

  • Hi

    Thanks for the comment.

No I haven't heard of. Biochar. Sounds like wonderful stuff to use in the garden! I will look it up.

    Thanks again....

  • Hi invisiblegardener, have you ever heard of Biochar? (Ground charcoal from waste wood chips etc used in the soil with compost or manures) It seems to hold nutrients against the weather and stimulates biolife and activity. Basically boosting and stabilizing ammendments, providing habitat for desirables... also is great for softening clay soils to add permeability and inhibiting compaction. Should make for less working of soil over time...

  • Hey great clip thanks.

You sure do Have a lot of "pests" is the sitrus only because it tastes bad to termites. Or does it protect from the rain also. I have a lot of worms in my wormary, it turned into a slugery at one point, so will give that a try. :)

  • One helpful tip.

  • stop thinking actual lol

  • OTKo and everything I use is safe for me and the environment. Please listen to what I say before you complain.

  • @invisiblegardener What is the "chicken wire" made of? Won't it contaminate the soil?

  • @g4macdad

dont think the wire will do anything to the soil other then add rust (iron).

  • @OmfgItsHenu chemical fertilizers are some of the top water pollutants, and water pollution is a large contributor to the water crisis that is affecting millions if not billions of people today. It's a real problem.

  • Good video learned a bit, keep up the good work. I will agree that once wood rots I will rebuild bed as all mine are made from scrap wood so it didn't cost me anything. I love almost free food, if you don't count your time and to me its fun.

  • Plastic bottle, factory made ... aint going nowhere near my raised bed wood, no way, ... when it rots , I'll make another, that way I"M sure ....it's pure !

damn tho man thats a big bed

  • Do you have a product name for the orange stuff... Thanks..

  • good information, thanks

  • It's really nice to grow like this, but dam it's expensive. I have 8 beds now, 10'x4'. Each cost me about $1000au ($800us) to build and fill. So there is $8000au before i even grew 1 plant.... I had to ask myself how many organic vegies could i buy for $8000? Shit loads... It will take me 127 years of growing to just break even on the investment... Am i nuts????

  • err, yeah man your nuts, you dont need to spend much except on maybe some seeds and a lil bit of irrigation or if the soils real bad a bit to mix into what ya have .

    food for free !

  • Even my water bill is $80 a month, just to keep them alive.

  • gonna have to think different for your climate ... condensation capture into poly tunnels an recycle, mebbe ? idk ....

  • But it only rains here once every 3-6 years

  • o.0 . move maybe ?

  • Ok heres the deal

dont buy these small bottles just order the gallon size from the company.

also you can actually spray it on the wood or even use a paintbrush. Spraying on the wood is easier just mix with equal parts mineral oil.. so 1 gallon citrus and 1 gallon mineral oil. That should do several beds. ie you only need to spray a small amount on the wood then rub in with cloth.

  • @invisiblegardener I use linseed oil

  • CHEMICALS=POISON!

  • LOL "Oh hi!" LOL Cute
