  • Hate British charging into the country fucking the place up get their ass kicked and go home! Im not blaming anyone but the British fucking government wankers! British people are okay sometimes but Queen Elizibeth Provo scum. Up the IRA pigs!

  • he killed the guy gave the kid the gun and hop on a bike

    ireland is so underated

  • @jojaine Underated? What the fuck?!?! it's a movie you wanker. British raped Irish women on boat's and prisons. They fucking ran into the country gained 6 counties then went back to England! While the North has its own Government! Who's underated now? You wanker! Pig.

  • I think the morale of this movie is this: when making a heroic tale, always let more than 49% of the killings be done by someone else than the hero.

A countryman of mine was buried this week with the false(!) ritzau-eulogy "assassinated many German soldiers during the war." apparently written by a fan of this movie, thinking that foreigners, and not murderous traitors, are at the heart of any invasion.

  • Liam Neeson is so gifted and highly devoted to his craft. This is the kind of writer that I wish to be and more in the exact way that he is an actor. He is never boring. He is intense and he teaches his audience as he performs. Very few have this capability in today's modern cinema. Julia Roberts was a total miscast in her role. I could not see the casting justification for her presence, perhaps, except for typical mainstream reasons. Neesom would have carried this w/excellence w/OUT Roberts.

  • I'm related to Micheal Collins

  • @Yankeesiheart good for you

  • @Yankeesiheart I'm not, but I can spell his name.

  • My history teacher is related to Vinny Byrne.

  • Alan Rickman is AMANZING as Dev

  • @LordWellington15 shut the fuck up

  • You want mail?! Lead! Express delivery!

  • Imagine if Collins survived the Civil war, there would have been no censorship in Ireland going by Collins language!!! :-)

  • God save our gracious Queen, Long live our noble Queen, God save the Queen: Send her victorious, Happy and glorious, Long to reign over us: God save the Queen. O Lord, our God, arise, Scatter her enemies, And make them fall. Confound their politics, Frustrate their knavish tricks, On Thee our hopes we fix, God save us all. Thy choicest gifts in store, On her be pleased to pour; Long may she reign: May she defend our laws, And ever give us cause To sing with heart and voice God save the Queen
  • @folwert Rule Britannia!

    Britannia rule the waves.

Britons never, never, never shall be slaves.

  • @LordWellington15 will u fuck off if ur not happy with irish then get the fuck off there pages ffs ur acting a child and im a fen child and i have more sense than u

    SAOR ULADH

    OILEAGH NA EIREAN

  • @IrishRawkstar4ever Your page? So you are the owner of youtube are you. Listen this is a film about Irish history so I am checking it out, seeing as I am from Northern Ireland. What I am correcting you Taigs on is the fact that you think the RA will come back or that there will be a united Ireland.

  • @LordWellington15 And if this happened, what on earth could you or anyone do about it? No matter how many words we spew, at the end of the day, our words mean nothing to those in power on this earth. But , there is one who is greater, and soon this will come as a shock to many, many. Make no doubt about that. The arguments that any of us are making is not worth a hill of beans when you get right down to it. So lets keep this pool party on the shallowe end & no one drowns. Lifesavers are free.

  • @LordWellington15

    Ní thuigim.

    Céard a dúirt tú?

    Ní sclabhaí sinne ach oiread.

Ireland, Ireland together standing tall - all four provinces.

  • @Tuigim Why do all Irish saying have to be in heathen talk?

  • @LordWellington15 Piss off will ya!? Born on this island but you'd rather pledge allegiance to another. A traitor if ever I heard of one!

  • @rtenewsontwo It does not matter where I was born. Just because its on the same Island doesnt count for shite. Say I am a Mexican, does that automatically make me American because I am on the land mass of North America?? Simple answer is no.

  • @rtenewsontwo Only an idiot would swear allegiance to a place simply because he was born there.

  • @Salguine Honey, a LOT of folks will wave that flag to associate their "place" requiring very little effort. Some folks carry "carte blanche" on their roots because to truly contribute would threaten such folks to actually think & read or contribute real change. Sad, but true. Some people only have their country to lean on as if they actually devote ANYTHING towards something solid to the issues w/ out , of course, having any knowledge or skills to back up their support. Its an empty allegiance

  • @LordWellington15 It`s because of brainwashed English bootlickers like you Gaelic is a dying language ! Failte ta Hell , ya English-lovin` bastard !

  • @LordWellington15 Who is forcing you into slavery? Who has threatened Brittain , except, Adolph & Stalin. And WHO accpeted Stalin into their team when Stalin was on the side of Hitler playing a middle man until Hitler (as any great friend would) decided to double cross Stalin and is now an Iron cast of three on a bench. The only way that Brits would be over taken will only happen b/c you shake hands w/ the enemy believing that the enemy would side w/ you. Girl, get wisdom. Take care of ALL humans

  • @folwert em... ok?

    sure.

don't really get what you're trying to express

but it's good that you're proud. For you, anyway

I'd find it hard to be proud to live in a colony but that's what makes it so impressive

  • @folwert ffs thats the english song not the irish song why r u that pathetic that u have to acc go on pages to annoy irish people go on ur own slave driving english pages have sene ffs

  • @folwert

The Queen of England is England's, not Ireland's.

  • @Tuigim England doesn't even BELONG to the Queen. She is a steward. I would like to tell you what belongs to whom, but I am not in a mood to get into that kind of verbal warrior rape with you. KNOW that we are all stewards of what we have. The Queen has shelf life on this earth & can't take England with her. No one can take any country with them once called yonder. There IS this HUGE BOOK which explains this entire reality selling millions of copies than the earth rotates the sun. Here's a clue

  • @Tuigim Cont from "Here's a clue": John Lennon of the former rock and roll banded named "The Beatles" from Liverpool, on an interview said that " We are as popular as *****" and for saying this, they were not allowed to travel the southern end of the US for this comment. When you figure out what Lennon said, then, you will figure out which BOOK I am refering to. Now go wiki/Google hunting...Good Luck, Jim!

  • @folwert So, what are you REALLY saying through this litany of chatter? Allow me to translate: the above means, "Queen is to kill ALL who is different, do not allow any other country to succeed economically, to do so means war. No other country has the right to call or set upon themselves their right to stand independant on their own apart from "Queen". The "Queen" is modern day Babylon to their golden calf, so if any were to challenge this, may they visit the gallows far&wide" Am I close?Mate

  • ''what will be next? the knackers yard?'' hahaha hes so funny.

  • All those traitors deserved to be shot!

  • @JordoF6 I bet it was difficult to be under the pressures that they were under and there is ALWAYS a traitor in every camp. Someone in Collin's camp should have been privately selected to do nothing but to watch the actions of the others to smoke out their true alliance to his cause as this was far too dangerous not to. Remember, all revolutions own a traitor within its ranks. A sad & terrible way to lose a courageous leader. You have to give this Collins his due Kudos despite your position.

  • Liam Nesson played Michael Collins super amazing in this film, but this movie fills you up with alot of anger!!!

  • @CelticSpirt go kill brits than!

  • @CelticSpirt Well said. This is the kind of comment which belongs in a You Tube discussion because it evokes the feelings that the director wishes to be provoked. It's a fair statement and I thought the same way as I watched it as well. You see, this is a real exchange between comments. Thank you. Good discussons grow from reasonable comments like these. It is true, this film provoked many on either side of the spectrum. But some folks become a bit paranoid losing marbles along the way.

  • go easy on the riddlin LOL Thats so funny :D

  • I dont get anything with that irish accent, what does "face the music hoy" means?

    besides somethings I can't understand.

what does "the caslte" mean? what it is?

And what are they trying to do? They are chasing rats?

  • @cepomwa 'Face the music, Hoey'

He's talking to the guy who is beating him up, its his surname

    'the castle' is Dublin Castle

as for the rest? google it.

  • so um, is that guy prof. snape?

  • @ruthangelina no it's not Professor Snape, it's Alan Rickman.

  • "begging your pardon ma;am, how do i get out of here?" [woman points] "grand."

    classic

  • the US will be going thur this very soon

  • "Riddled? Riddled?! what are ye goin around riddling people for " hahahahaha

  • did cullen die

  • @Rhys276

    yeah :[

  • Thanks for the upload, involving movie regardless of one's politics.

  • the music id from Interview with the vampire!!!

  • Yay, Alan Rickman is back :D

  • 4:31 anyone watch ballykissangel? he shot Brendan!

  • In the end, Collins got less than Redmond and Dillon and started a civil war which ended in his murder. Thousands of Irishmen were killed and the new Free State government felt compelled to intern 11,000 IRA men and execute over 100 of them. Only a fool could think this all good. Murder is always wrong. Only a naive fool or an evil brute would ever be in favour of it.

  • @Jacobitejim Pick up a junior cert history book and you will be told otherwise.

  • @saphira1001 - if you get your history from junior cert textbooks then that may be your problem.

  • @saphira1001 actually thats debatable among historians & history pHD students like myself- i do however agree that you are for the most part partially correct- however information is best gathered from texts a little more sophisticated than jnr cert history

  • @MrMostevilgenius - I would follow the example of Dan O'Connell and the constitutionalists who achieved far more than any bomb-thrower ever did. Indeed, Ireland would have got Home Rule 50 or more years earlier but for the bomb-throwers. Gladstone had long been in favour. Redmond and Dillon eventually achieved it by constitutional means but world war intervened giving the bomb-throwers and murderers their rotten chance to poison Irish politics.

  • No amount of talk will ever excuse the fact that Collins and his gang murdered innocent people coming out of Church, nor the fact that Sinn Fein became a terrorist party not just in the 1960s but from 1916. To say, as you suggest, "give us what we want and we'll stop murdering you" is the cry of every stinking criminal everywhere. It won't wash. Murder is always wrong - whoever does it.

  • @Jacobitejim

You are absolutely right but it doesn't give anyone the right to judge either.

just a simple question: what would you do in a situation like that? Let foreigners dictate your life, your allegiances? Or would you fight with whatever method you can to obtain the freedom to determine your own life?

I think I'd rather fight than submit although I'm not violent by nature and I suspect many back then weren't either. Just hope to God I never have to.

  • @Jacobitejim ahahahha innocent yeah he was alright he was one of the cairo gang sur ye really do need to read your history mate... i'll leave the honours to you to google the cairo gang

  • @Jacobitejim What about Cromwell, slaughtering, raping and pillaging Ireland.

  • I wish that mick didnt die and he became president of ireland.

  • he was president (prime minister) of Ireland for two months prior to his death..This film doesn't show it strangely enough but after Grifith died (Grifith was president of the Irish free state) Collins took over....He also controlled the army which actually could have led to a dictatorship if he so desiered it...I don't know who gave him those two postions but it was a strange move.

  • Peadarsiback@ Well you make my point for me since you think that murdering fellow Irish Catholics as they come out of mass is "needed". That's all the evidence anyone needs to prove the very point I was making. Racist? Fascist? That hardly even begins to describe the sheer odium of it.

  • if England had let Ireland get it's own goverment and flag and popcorn and all the rest there wouldn't be as much violence used.

Once again yes Sinn Féin became a party of terror mainly during the "troubles" in the North of Ireland...Their leader today (Gerry Adams) is a terrorist and link to the IRA who were the vanguard of the party.

But I do feel a strong reaction from Collins and Co. Was need from 1918-1921 to get an end result granted it ended in a civil-war but now there's peace

  • Yep - wait until they come out of Church and shoot them in cold blood. Nice bunch of racist, fascist murderers. Being Sinn Fein/IRA is a bit like crying whore to your own mother.

  • @Jacobitejim Sinn Féin back then was a pacfist party it's founder Arthur Grifith intented that...the 'squad' was violent yes but Collins set them up not Sinn Féin also they were needed (sadly)

  • @Peadarisback - whatever Griffith may have intended, Sinn Fein became a party of violent revolution, murder, torture, hatred, aggression and evil. Anyone who thinsk these things are "needed" needs his head read.

  • Whats the dublin guys name that freaks out in Broys office when he got the letter threat i saw him in other films before hes a fuckin brilliant actor he is.

  • @jimmy27paul you mean the one thats in every irish movie ever made + braveheart,.. sean mcginley.

  • Thanks alot.

  • the two scenes with De Velira with the priests sort of could be seen as a forshadowing of how he let the chruch have a large (to large) a say over the republic in later years... Sense he was very catholic

  • just shows you a few good men it takes to change something.. great movie

  • Best line, "Relax you bastard".

  • I luv how dev keeps givin out to mick for cursin'

  • Classic ! "Hey boys you did well but go easy on the riddling will ya."

  • Hehe, I tended to like "Begging your pardon, ma'am, but how do I get outta here?"

  • @Milkman12114 : That line is genius. Not sure if an Irish person wrote the script but it sounds like Irish humour to me.

  • @Milkman12114- I agree. Positively brilliant. "Riddling? What're they going around riddling for?"

  • @Milkman12114 Milkman, I think that you have tipped the popularity when you recalled this quote! Good on ya! Thank you for keeping You Tube fun , true to form, and racist-free with positive comments like this. Thank you! Good aye to ya mate!
