@drwhowhatwhere What's wrong with going to a monetary policy that demands that our dollar be backed by a real asset (i.e. gold) rather than faith in our government (like the fiat dollar)? If the USD is the strongest currency in the world, then why is it that $1 USD only buys 0.78 Euros or 0.65 Pounds Sterling? Because our currency is weaker, not stronger. And inflation is rising every year; it has to collapse at some point. Paul just wants to return to a stable, sustainable monetary policy.

Redberdian, You have a point. I understand your concerns, however we are a republic of people that are uninformed, or misinformed. How can we really vote effectively if we are kept in the dark. The corporate media sees to that. Further, our representatives are loyal to corporations and the Israeli lobby. So, in many cases we will be swindled out of out liberties. I believe Paul has the right approach, but I would add a law prohibiting lobbyists from meeting with elected officials.

@FookHarper If you remember, McCain was ahead in all the polls before the housing bubble burst. Then, people got all mad at Republicans and voted for Obama. Plus, Obama was a blank slate - people didn't know him. They know him now, and he's in trouble. But, I'm not sure a President McCain would have been much better. isnt that crazy that we have a supposed "food shortage" and people starving everywhere--meanwhile the US has been subsidisng food for decades to keep prices low...which also srews the rest of the world....ie hati, jamaca, etc....when they cant possibly compete with our market, it puts thier farms out of business.
