  • GO CANADA !!!!

  • How is I configured how is the tube by the flame like wrapped tightly or big loop?

  • @Tbgp4 Watch my video Putt Putt Engine Design and you can see a similar engine at 40 secs.

  • Uh who says it is a boat? Reading previous comments is often usefull when something is not understood.

  • uh why is the putt putt boat out of the water?

  • @puttputt4video regarding your desire to build a faster putt putt. Ok, maybe it comes down to: provide a hotter flame (Precondition your yellow candle flame by enabling more oxygen to fan it blue... Perhaps by swirling airflow from beneath, possibly elevate the entire candle power system so that by the time air has reached the flame it has developed a greater velocity). And/or... Use thin tempered stainless or carbon fiber laminate so your trampoline is far more springy... cycles more often...

  • @tommymorey Your suggestions are valid but only a part of the equation. (A)Hot flames I use are methyl hydrate burners with up to 11 wicks. No candles. (B) Transfer of heat from burner to boiler to water dependant upon good boiler design.(C) Steam must be condensed very quickly. (D)The diaphragm reduces power hence most of my engines do not use them. You seem interested. Build one. These are notes only. More detailed info available from sources noted in my videos. Have you watched all? Thanks.

  • boats go in the water not suspened above the water there is no boat wake just the wake from the pipes

  • @MrMango222au It is not called a boat by me.

  • Nice work man. Nice video.

  • @1simo93521 Thank you.

  • Watching your video is very relaxing. Thanks for such a rare subject and recalls from me some chilhood memories. I love your puttputt flying boat.

  • @kwokwing Thank you. I saw your channel. You have very nice videos.

  • What is the thing in the front? An intake?

  • @MyWampie Yes. As part of a previous experiment. It was blocked in this video.

  • terrible engine, good sound!!! i insist, you are the master!!! from argentina.

  • Yh it's fast because it's run by a motor..,

  • @Ilovelazers no its run by an engine motosr are electric engines have a fuel source that generaly burns their are no electronics in that boat or engine

  • wow the yellow boat is not even touching the water

  • @7coolaznkid Right. That's why it is not called a boat.

  • Wow, is it running on an actual hydrofoil??? NOT!!! The hull is not in the water because you support it from above.

  • @birdwing98 It is interesting that people who have not posted a video often are the most critical of others videos. Reading all the other comments can save you embarrassment. I do not call it a boat. It is worlds fastest putt putt engine. See one of my other videos "Maybe" World's Fastest Putt Putt Boat if you are interested in learning. Thanks for watching.

  • God job!

  • @kungopus Thanks.

  • Ferrari doesn't make boats...Lamborghini does.

  • the full size put put run about 10 knots

  • I do agree that it should be placed in the water for a fair comparison, for this video. I do however know that not all mini steam engines make noise so I am not going to make that conspiracy theory. I did skim through the other videos and I do not see anything with this actually floating without a support attached. Also seeing you have one with the "world's loudest" it seems, you just think you have the best , but no real comparison. It just has 5 diaphragms, anyone can add more for noise.

  • @LivingInEnvy

Thanks for viewing and the comment. Controversy is good. In the world's Fastest video I don't present it as a boat and invited anyone to prove me wrong with (a video of) a faster putt putt ENGINE. Ditto goes for the Worlds loudest. You say it is easy to just add diaphragms for more noise. Have you tried? Stop living in envy and prove me wrong. Your channel came up as not available???

  • @LivingInEnvy I made this video for you and others who had comments similar to yours. Hope you will watch, "Maybe World's Fastest Putt Putt Boats" on my Youtube channel and let me know if this works for you.

  • its not even in the water look

  • @tonykuklok Golly gosh you caught me there. Now read all and I do mean all the comments on this video and learn something. Now go make a video so I can criticize yours. Thanks for watching.

  • @tonykuklok I made this video for you and others who had comments similar to yours. Hope you will watch, "Maybe World's Fastest Putt Putt Boats" on my Youtube channel and let me know if this works for you.

  • @PuttPutt4video ok ok how about you show us ths video agian but without it being conetced to the bar in the center of the pool the it go free

  • @tonykuklok I don't understand your message. There are two videos. The first with the yellow boat suspended is called Putt Putt World Speed record. The new one has a silver boat running with the Titanic boat and both in the water is called Maybe World's Fastest Putt Putt Boats. Both in the water is what you wanted to see is it not?

  • @PuttPutt4video yes but i want to see you put the boat in the water not tied to anything and then let it run

  • @tonykuklok Without the tether they would just wander around and run into each other and the pond walls although if I had a 300 foot tank and could keep my boat running straight it would go faster as turning scrubs off speed. That's all I have on this subject.

  • The answer is yes, well sort of. They produce very little power so speed would be less than a snail. Most powerfull I have achieved is about 500mN. You can convert that to HP if you like but it is a very small figure. Thanks for watching.

  • Hey I used to play around with these when I was a kid,

I am curious now is there a way to take the same design as your engine,

or the titanic style engine (speed/noise is not an issue)

and put it into a larger boat?

IE a small either fishing style boat or something even smaller,

    with no moving parts.

    Just curious.

  • most boats would be fast if they were suspended above the water rather than motoring thru it. As a demonstration i'd give this comparison with the "titanic" a D+.

  • @tymbaone1 You call it a boat, I do not. Reading previous comments reduces the chance of being uninformed.

  • @tymbaone1 I made this video for you and others who had comments similar to yours. Hope you will watch, "Maybe World's Fastest Putt Putt Boats" on my Youtube channel and let me know if this works for you.

  • To Be world Fastest Boat , It Need to Float on Water , ----- FAIL-----

  • @ThePatatepiler123 Thanks for watching and commenting. You might want to read all the comments for this video. Like others, you failed to notice that I do not call it a boat. What do you mean by FAIL in caps?

  • @ThePatatepiler123 I made this video for you and others who had comments similar to yours. Hope you will watch, "Maybe World's Fastest Putt Putt Boats" on my Youtube channel and let me know if this works for you.

  • The solid boiler type like this one also has no moving parts. Incidentally, the moving part that is on some engines is called a diaphragm and serves no usefull function. It just makes a noise.

  • the engine of a putt putt boat does have moving parts. The boiler has a thin sheet that flexes concave and conflux. Well, unless it's the kind with a coiled engine.

  • I really want to build a fast putt putt boat, but I'm not an engineer and I can't find any instructional videos or sites. help!

  • @holymole8 You could start with my Part 13-Easy build.

  • Thanks for watching. Maybe you will find them if you watch some of my other videos.

  • Funking a waste of my time. I just lost thousands of brain cells after that

  • the yellow boat isnt submerged all the way.

  • @jsb6jsb12 Correct. However if it was "submerged all the way" it would be a submarine and the water would extinguish the flame. Reading all the comments might be interesting to you. Thanks for watching.

  • @PuttPutt4video but its not put in the water... only the pipes reducing water drag...

  • @pcblah Correct again. The video is about the fastest engine, not the fastest boat. As the velocity of the water jets in a putt putt boat are small in force and limited in speed part of this test was to determine the result when drag was reduced. I also looked at how the engine would perform at higher speeds. While the engine was good at lower speeds the tubes had to be altered to keep it running at the higher speed. Hope this helps.

  • @jsb6jsb12 I made this video for you and others who had comments similar to yours. Hope you will watch, "Maybe World's Fastest Putt Putt Boats" on my Youtube channel and let me know if this works for you.

  • @PuttPutt4video you didn't have to remake another video. i believe you. i recently bought my own on ebay for 5.00$ fast or slow there all fascinating. i enjoyed watching your video. id like to see more of your creations.

  • @jsb6jsb12 Thanks for watching and the comment. One of my main objectives was to create interest in these boats so it is important to me to make videos that fairly represent what can be achieved. The first was about the fastest engne. The new one is about the fastest boat and I do hope I get challenges.

  • @PuttPutt4video i would like to see some videos of you making the boats including the engine, there isn't a lot of detailed videos showing how to make put put engines, i know there are a lot of different ways and i would enjoy to see some of the various ways, to start creating other unique engines.

  • @jsb6jsb12 One of my videos shows how to buld an engine and another shows various designs of engines. There are several videos on youtube including the Sciencetoymakers how to videos. I am making a video on building the boats but it will be a while.

  • 0:57 clock ;D

  • nice, but how fast is your boat when it swims alone, without any wires?

    does it even swim?

    -kind regards from austria

  • @Biotektan Thanks for watching and the comment. You can learn more about your question by reading all the comments on this page and by watching my other videos. The boats racing in Part 6 are the same engine (s).

  • @Biotektan i thin he only has the wires so the boats go around the pond and the strings dont push the boat or anything just to guide it around the pond i think :)

  • @XxValt3RxX Yes thanks, you are correct. Your channel is intersting with some good video work.

  • @PuttPutt4video ty :)

  • @Biotektan I made this video for you and others who had comments similar to yours. Hope you will watch, "Maybe World's Fastest Putt Putt Boats" on my Youtube channel and let me know if this works for you.

  • Great idea badfish.....build it and they will come.

  • Also, I wonder if you could add baffles sort of like horizontal ribs inside the shroud to give the jets something to "dig into" as they go around. Paddel wheelers were not invented yet but an "odometer" for measuring underway distance at sea was, and it was a side mounted paddel. Just trying to invision what could have been based on what was actually around at the time tech-wise. Now imagine they switch to Middle Eastern tar pits for a fuel source...we might be having this conversation on Mars..

  • I always wondered if Hero's Engine is/was scalable and how that might have changed history had say a shipping company owner stumbled upon a little model of one in the Library of Alexandria, there was a museum there.

  • @151badfish Thanks for viewing. Like the Putt Putt engine the efficiency would be pathetic. However if he had invented the steam turbine and connected the two he would have some power.

  • @PuttPutt4video What if a Hero's Engine was the size of a cement truck, mounted midship with a super big, super heavy flywheel on each side? Once it got to spinning it seems like it wouldn't have much trouble driving a couple side mounted paddelwheels. Mabye have a shroud or housing to keep the flying steam under control and to recollect the water. As for a transmission, I think the Antikythera Mech. showed the capabilities around 80 B.C. Just a thought...

  • great job, impressive indeed.

I am going to try and challenge your speed record this summer :)

    (Im Canadian too, winnipeg)

  • @lardmonk Thanks. Let me know if I can help.

  • That looks very impressive, I would really like to see that boat operate with its hull on the water like the other one in order to see how much the drag would slow it down. While it may be the world's fastest _engine_, you should really be comparing apples to apples for the sake of clarity. Also, it's VERY quiet for a putt putt engine (silent even?), makes me wonder if there might be an electric motor attached to the bottom end of that arm's axle.

    Hmmmmm.....

  • @tsefox Thanks. Watch all my putt putt videos to see the three types of engines, only one of which makes any noise and none are electric. In Part 2 or 3 you will see a boat named Art Deco that has a near identical engine running with the hull in the water.

  • @PuttPutt4video I have been humbled after watching your other videos, my hat goes off to you.

  • @tsefox That was my first thought too. What we can't see could explain a whole lot. How is a poppop boat silent if there's no pop pop??? The whole structure of the thing is a cycling steam engine which blasts steam and sucks water. Hence the noise.

  • @tsefox I made this video for you and others who had comments similar to yours. Hope you will watch, "Maybe World's Fastest Putt Putt Boats" on my Youtube channel and let me know if this works for you.

  • Is the coil that much more efficient?

  • @GerbilEssences Coil engines and boiler type engines, which this is, make more power than the diaphragm type. They are all very inefficient. Thanks for watching and subscribing. Great name!

  • @PuttPutt4video Ah thankyou, I can't resist bad puns.

  • @GerbilEssences Some little known information about Gerbils.

Because of their excellent sense of essences, Gerbils were trained in the late

70's as drug sniffers for air ports. The project failed because when they found drugs they would take them and then run endlessly on the baggage conveyer or carousel. Thought you would like to know.

  • @PuttPutt4video You are a fount of knowledge :D

  • @GerbilEssences True. Sometimes it is embarrassing.

  • Why do you compare a commercial engine actually pushing a bout IN the water to your own engine pushing a boat suspended ABOVE the water?

Makes no sense to me, nor does the claim about a world record. A world record for boats with putt putt engines suspended above the water. Wow...

  • @zunzhinedude My claim is for the fastest putt putt engine, not fastest putt putt boat. As commercially made boats go the one shown is relatively fast and the sort of speed that most people running these boats are familiar with. What do you suggest I compare my suspended Putt Putt engine to? This model experiment was done as part of testing to try to determine at what speed the intake stroke would fail. Do you build putt putt boats? Have you built something to challenge?
  • @PuttPutt4video I agree with zunzhinedude... it's a great engine (appears to be) - so why suspend the boat and then show it whizzing around the other boat which is dealing with actual resistance of the water? Show the boats in a real side-by-side so that someone can actually see how impressive it is what you've done. Or, suspend the other boat, so we can see just the engine vs. engine... if that's your desire. Or put the engine on a pop pop catamaran if your fancy boat shown here is too slow.

  • @3DCGdesign

Thanks for the comment. Although my boat does not have

water resistance on the hull it does have the drag of 7 tubes

and the bar to pull. Tried a catamaran hull. It was very poor.

See Part 3. You can see the engine used in the worlds Fastest

video in a hull in the outside boat of the two boats racing in Part 6.

The inside boat has a near identical engine. With the hull in the

water the Fastest boat is more than 3 times the speed of of the

    Titanic.

  • i declare shenanigans, it is an arm being propelled by putt putt engine. The "boat" is suspended above the water.

  • @noad56 agreed

  • @noad56

No shenanigans. The claim is for the World's fastest putt putt "engine". Not World's fastest putt putt boat but I believe I have that too.

  • good job man!

  • Wow, that is certainly the fastest I have seen by far!! You gotta sell those things, Daryl
