Good for Lemmy, I like a lot of oldies but it was the New Wave Of British Heavy Metal genre that set the music path for me (My first album was Iron Maiden Number Of The Beast) - and looking at what inspired and influenced them made me listen to the oldies - just because you are a metalhead does not mean you have to only listen to metal

Not to be insulting, but only the simpler minded ones can't dig that stuff. Some people just let the music smack 'em upside the head, and that's fine, but if you really get into it you're gonna wanna hear where it came from. Not knowing the roots is why the newer bands generally aren't as good as Motorhead.

Well lets see...He was around at the advent of Rock N Roll and was one of the very fist people to play that style of music. He was a bit of a wild child and did for piano what Jimi Hendrix did for electric guitar. In fact Jimi played for Little Richard in his backing band in the 60's. @nickwarhead Oh, the irony....ALL popular music, including "metal" traces back to blues/rhythm and blues, taken straight off of records by Little Richard, Muddy Waters, Chuck Berry, etc, etc. Whether you're aware of it or not is another matter. Motorhead's entire catalog is based on r&b and blues riffs. During the 50s and 60s, the brits and elvis gave black music a new image and sound. Young white kids ate it right up. Do you actually think that metal bands invented those riffs?

if you ever happened to see a documentary called Metal a headbangers journey there is an interview with tony ioomi where he says he was "heavily ifluenced by blues music" as was the rest of black sabbath and other bands at the time,if it wasnt for bles music we wouldnt have rock and metal as we know it today
