  • Did anyone else kinda chuckle about how much involvement the crew for the tan car did checking and setting. While the grocery getter just sat there (waiting) with a smooth idle, quiet exhaust, 180 degree engine temp and no worries. It makes no difference if he won or lost (he won BTW) against the MoPar because he just walked up to the line and stood toe to toe with a car that was purpose built for racing and ripped off a 12.76 in the 1/4. Obviously the van has been tweaked but still... lol

  • They didn't put 2.5 s in the Caravan. 2.2L turbo 2 (intercooled).

  • For turbo motors They ONLY put 2.5 turbos in the vans because of the extra torque helped with weight, i have owned 3 of them :)

  • Did not know that. Were they intercooled from the factory? I thought the 2.5 s were set up with Turbo 1's and not intercooled (I know that was the case with the Daytonas).

  • No they were not intercooled basically just like the 2.5s in the daytonas. The nice thing on the vans is that there is lots of space to add an intercooler. I have upgraded mine 3 times now. Do you have a Turbo dodge? Sounds like you know about them

  • I have a 84 Daytona Turbo Z. I've owned four Daytonas: the z, a 87 Pacifica, a 89 ES 2.5 N/A, and a base 84 Daytona 2.2 N/A. I'm keeping the Z, but would like to get a T2, especially a Shelby, perferably a 89.

  • The 1980's Dodge caravan and plymouth tobro were better made then today minivans. They don't have the hi-tech but they have that mighty K-car design platform. I love those 80's cars.

  • Even if this is not stock minivan, which we all can see that the Roadrunner isn't stock either, it is still a FOUR Cylinder engine Running Against a V8 - 4 more cylinders! And it does this? That is Great! Pulling the seats out would make a huge huge difference! Those 2 bench seats aren't light and pulling the passenger seat would also make a lot of difference!

  • Of course it isn't stock. It's a modified 2.5 liter *commonblock* turbo motor. (which  was a factory option for this model van)

    What amazes me every time I get on the freeway, is the fact that other cars which you know have a larger motor can't stay with me. If the 3.3L V6 is better than the 2.5L I4, that 3.3 must be a powerhouse with a turbo!

    You about stupid enough to tell me and others that the Ford Motor Company made a 400 Modified. There is no such critter! There is a 351 Modified and a 351 Cleveland and a 351 Windsor. The 400 is its' own block built to be a 400 CID engine ONLY! But, of course you knew that, right? Same way you knew so much about Chrysler and don't know your ass from a hole in the ground!

Plus, I have a Ford truck with a 400/408 cid (.030 over) flat-top TRW Forged pistons with 351 Cleveland heads ported and polished/SS Valves & seats. $4500 into the heads. Yeah just making it up... as you put it. Why not the 400 heads? because of how they are ported - poorly designed.

  • Ford also made a 383 cid back in 1958/59 it came out in 1960 1/2 as a 390 cid. But you can still have a 383 from a 351 Windsor. Or how about a 454 Ford engine. Made from the all aluminum 351W. Camshaft is raised .050" to allow clearance for the 850 lift cam. Rock on Ford!

  • Contrary to popular belief, the Ford 351W will withstand 24-30 lbs of boost. And then add to that 5% LP instead of NOS. Inject straight into intake. This combo along with 18" wrinkle walls will eat up a Dana 90 axle. Snapped in half! Never even got to 1/16th of a mile!

  • What most people don't know is, 1989 was the first year for the "Tall Block" made specifically for the 2.5 Liter motor. Prior to they used the 2.2L motor block. Many new changes went into the '89 tall block. But then Chrysler only used it from 1989 to 1995.

  • You fail. The tall block 2.5 was produced in 1988, and it was designed for N/A. The 1989 block is referred to as a "commonblock". It's the same block whether or not its a 2.2 or a 2.5, the change is only in the pistons and crank. You can build it either way.

  • What you need to do is inform Chrysler of this false fact and tell them they don't know what they are talking about! Bone Brain!

    The Tall Block "According to Chrysler" was produced in 1989 (NOT 1988). The "Common Block" was the one you refer to and that common block was a 2.2 and they later made the 2.5 out of the 2.2 block. '89 is when the tall block came about and it was a new motor "According to Chrysler" Do you homework son...

  • You know, if I was going to respond angrily and condescendingly to someone i'd at least make sure I was right. I've owned more 2.2/2.5's than you have. The tall block was *never turbo'd*. It was released in 88 as an N/A motor. The tall block was only in 88/89 cars and then it was canned.

  • I am correcting myself. The tall block was 86/88 I didn't mean to type 88/89. That being said, 89/95 are all commonblock - as I previously stated. Also, as previously stated, 86/88TB were all N/A only. Get YOUR facts straight.

  • My 1989 Voyager non turbo gets right with the program - I've been throughly impressed! It will beat most V6 cars. Getting on the freeway, most small v8's can't stay with me. Not too shabby for a 2.5 Liter minivan w/80K miles. I was told to stay away from 4 cyl no power. Not so!

The newest corvettes run 11's in the quarter mile stock. Throw some small mods into the motor and your running 10's all day long. And unlike the Subaru, the corvette's transmission won't grenade after a couple runs.
