  • thank you, great video

  • I had an event on Tuesday, where I was doing the lighting at a live event, it was a small one in a hall, but I was using 16 halogen uplights that I had rented, and some idiot came up to my light board and just wacked all the sliders up, causing 1 of the bulbs to blow, lucky I had a spare. I also had a bulb in a moving head blow, which I had only used about 6 times and have owned for 3 months. both not good, but you learn, just a warning to others, be aware, anything can happen :)

  • Hey Brian, Thanks for all of your work. I've learned a ton from you - always appreciate your delivery. I just bought 14 LED lights - went the Ebay route, and ended up with par 64 lights, and the HTL Mega Panels. The Mega Panels DMX input output seem reversed to what the other lights and controllers are. When I got the adapters and hooked them into the controller - it responds questionably at best. Is there something I'm missing? Obviously, the company isn't much help, so I'm hoping for input.

  • you are awesome! thank you!

  • Can anyone tell me if the American DJ LED64 pars can daisy chain their power? Or does each light need to have its own power?

  • own power sorrry

  • @metome142 Each needs to have its own power

  • one question on power consumption Brian . do you leave the lights on when your grandma comes down in the basement to do your laundry??

  • Thanks for the video dude, i have been looking into uplighting lately for my wedding gigs.

  • lol wow brian, at 0:33 ur computer has a lot of icons on the desktop

  • are the 64b led pro brackets big enough to put dmx cables under it without anything? thanks

  • thanks for the vid!!! i have 1 question, if you use more than 1 light can u make them light up in sequnce with out dmx? thanks agan

  • THANKS, very helpful

  • i love uplighting but im just wondering why everyone is making it sound like uplighting is brand new to the world?

  • i was thinking the same thing! the second i got my first LED it retired my par cans for good!!!

  • ah very cool! I was wondering what that one dj (forgot his name) meant when he was talking about uplighting and architectural lighting in your other videos.

  • hey i just picked up some P64Led by american dj. there great but i was wondering how you carry your lights. do you have a case or just in the original boxes?

  • Mine are in Arriba cases

  • could you tell me which case to get i wasnt able to find on that said it fit the p64

  • The AC-125 should work just fine. That's what I use

  • Cool thanks brian. ill have a video of my lights up soon

  • Brian,

Those look great, are there any cheaper LED par cans that offer the same fading? How are the cheaper American DJ LED pars?

I'd like to get into LED lighting and phase out my par cans for environment lighting, but at $299 each, they're a bit expensive.

  • Hmm I think you need to step up with the lights to get these effects. Remember, if you want to play, you got to PAY. It's pro gear and it's priced accordingly.

  • Well I don't know if I would call American DJ "Pro". It's pretty stuff, i'll give you that. My EAW and QSC system is "Pro" my Pioneer and Rane stuff is "Pro".

  • Rane, QSC, Pioneer, etc don't make lighting. ADJ lighting is, for the most part not really for the general consumer. It's for people stage & theatrical professionals.

I guess the best way to put it is that if you plan on using your lighting week after week, year after year, then step up into the better lighting offered. I don't think the less expensive ADJ par cans have the built-in programs.

  • I know that those audio company's don't produce lighting equipment.

But Martin does, I would call Martin professional lighting. I Would call American DJ Pro-sumer/DJ lighting.

Either way, It was just a curiosity question about the cheaper American DJ LED fixtures.

    Thanks.

  • Hey Brian, I´ve never had DJ lights in my life and I am considering to buy some.. the problem is that, I do not know which ones to start with... Any Suggestions??

Also, can you do a Video on different lights briefly describing some of the ways that one could use them??

  • This is something I'll be working on in the next couple weeks. There are some more lights on order that are a bit different than what I already have. Once I get them and do tutorials on them individualy, I can do the type of video you need to see.

  • OK.

    Thanks Brian!! :D

I will patiently wait for those videos.

  • Great info. Brian!

  • the led's dont give off heat thats why its not hot

  • Brian, you are the only guy helping and teaching about lighting. This is very cool, but could you do/did you do a lighting 101 for dummies, oh and also fog machines. Great vids man!

  • That's a scary thought. I'm not that good with lighting. HA!

I'm learning as I go and have & will make mistakes. But perhaps we can all learn together :)

  • That light is awesome. I'm looking at switching to LED lights soon and I have you to thank for it Brian.

  • GREAT lighting effects :)

  • THX

  • GREAT CONCEPT,Dj mikey mike introduced me to this like 3 weeks ago, really liked it, I'll use it too, now could you tell me this?? is there a lot of difference between the P64pro and the chauvet 200B?

  • wow, that's a really cool piece of shit!

  • Hmm, cool idea, It might be a nice idea for me to make some custom handmade baseboard lighting designs that use LEDs.

  • up lighting is one of the greatest idea lately, inexpensive and a great effect, led lights are awesome

  • Hey Brian, Can I use a dimmer switch with the LED Lights?

  • No, you have to dim your lights with DMX or you'll mess 'em up!

  • you have cdjs?

i never saw em in ur videos

  • Yup, I have 2 CDJ 400 decks and a matching DJM 400 mixer. Looks like you need to start watching some more videos. HA!

  • okay, noob question, why is fog of any variety not allowed? if its in referance to smoke detectors thats why I brought up the dry ice since its heavy, however if theres others I'd like to know so I can think around that.

  • Apparently, smoke alarms go off when there are particles in the air, even when thoes particles aren't real smoke. Not sure how nightclubs do it. I wish all banquet halls did it that way.

The other problem is Asthma. I'm not sure if it's imagined or real, but some people complain about breathing.

Haze is probably the best option, which is a light fog. However, many places won't allow that either.

  • fogging alternative? why not dry ice? its heavy, stays close to the floor and is easy to control with home brew stuff? Just dont touch it directly or it will instantly kill your skin cells.

  • I like the dry ice effect. Never used it but it looks exellent. I'm not sure this is going to help people trying to put something in the air for thier scanners, etc to reflect off of because it lays too low to the ground.

Hazers are probably the best way to go if you use it in moderation. Trouble is, most halls in my area have completely black listed smoke effects all together.

  • you can put the source of the dry ice above the scanners so it may cascade onto the light, and of course it will build up and "crawl" along the floor. or use a small light fan to blow it out, its main advantage is it will be a heavy fog that doesn't stay in the air, then again I dunno much, never played with lights, just tables.

  • That's an intiresting concept. A lot of messing around, but a very intiresting idea

  • okies :) I like to brainstorm about things, ut I'll; let this rest since medical issues fall into play. that and I dont have enough funds to test my ideas and submit a video result.

  • DJs try and change the bulbs on your old par cans to led colored bulbs, they are $35 dollars and if your only using them for up lighting these heat free led bulbs do the trick. Instead of buying a #75 led system.

  • That's a great tip!

  • I ordered a gang of par 64s and a dmx controller. Sure was fun setting the programming up....eek.

  • 3:40 I feel sorry for that computer... sooo many icons... lol

  • Yeah I know. Most of them are video files for these tutorials.

  • It's an amazing feature to have on your dance floor but the only problem I can see is that is guests kicking em about or messing around with the cables

  • I did it tonight without any issues. I'm sure there are certian work-arounds that others are already using and will eventually share with us

  • That Nice Brian.

  • This is going to be a very useful, educational project about led uplighting. Can't wait to see the next video brian.

  • Ran outta room on my last post. Here's an idea for those of you without dual yokes on your lights. The base of a microhone stand will work. If you can find on of those table top microphones, the bases on those are somewhat smaller. I've done this before and it works great. The kick in the pants is the wiring issue. There is really no "neat" way to get around running quite a bit of cable (AC, DMX or both) if you're running multiple par cans. Until someone comes out with battery operated lights!

  • They are OUT! Jason in the UK has a pair of them and I should be getting a pair soon as well. Stay tuned!

  • Uplighting is such a great tool to literally transform a room. It can make a HUGE difference, and as Brian stated, can be quite a profitable "add-on" to your lighting packages. Another tip is to use it to bring attention to certain key areas, especially at a wedding. (i.e. the cake table/head table etc...) I have sold the idea to clients who don't want a lot of "dance" lighting hanging on truss. A static color during dinner, then make them chase during the dancing, Makes the room come alive!

  • Hi Brian. I've been looking forward to this subject starting. It's something I have been offering for a little while.

For people who have PARs without the dual legs, Adam Halls web site have a great product. It is item no: 38163 - Floor & wall mounting plate.

They are quite cheap to buy but look great and are very stable, which it very important when guests are about - especially after a few beers.

Looking forward to the next in series videos.

    Regards,

    Paul.

  • Way to go Brian!! I'm gonna shoot my 8/31/8 wedding to show the uplighting I have it...

  • Brian im glad you are moving forward with this project, I will follow you up in the next few days with a back up video using the Mega Panel system. But as i have said a new dawning on quality products and service we as mobiles can offer customers....great vid speak soon jason

  • Use Haze and don't tell them ;). Also I guess I need to get the 64S Pro's now. I didn't know they had the dual yoke and the LCD display. Very nice!

  • They are actually called "64P". Sorry, my bad

  • good vid cant wait 4 number 2! <3

  • you need allot of tape lol so guests don't trip over the power and/or dmx cords running between lights and extension cords because there might not be a wall power out let near to where you want to up light, been doing this for a while now at any gig that request and been getting some great responses from guests and clients, defiantly a must if you want to offers something a bit different at gigs

  • There are options check out my video on the Elation Mega panel.... i will be posting another video on it in the next day or so!

    rgds je

  • I can't wait to see the next video, this is the kinda thing I've been wanting to do for a while.

  • Thats really beautiful!

great tip! cant wait to see the other videos!

  • It's also a very nice effect to put some par cans (small ones) in side your trussing (if your usesing a 3 or 4 point trussing)

    It looks so awsome

  • Another great viedeo brian!!!!

    keep going!!!
