  • What about the Gibson Robot?

  • This strat has been discontinued since 2009. It did not last long 2 years that is it.

  • please tune your guitar before demoing it

  • Comment removed

  • looks like fun

  • the blue light is blinking. does it mean that you need to replace the battery?

  • This guitar used properly should be in the hands of an advanced player to fully optimize its capabilities. If you don't understand how to use and play with alternate tunings or play material that's versatile tonally then get something else. Those who have anything negative to say about this guitar can't afford it or are limited musically. This is a great guitar with a world of possibilities.

  • its not a simulated strat sound..it mimics different sounds... otherwise i would own a synthesizer..

  • I find that stuff very good. I mean the Strat with normal PU and a piezzo to have more possibilities.

I don't know how much the game costs ...

  • I owned one, first months = awesome guitar

    Later = it sucks

    Waste of money

I sold it and bought a Fender 57 American Vintage Hot Rod.

Thats my perfect Guitar. Now I put some Fender 57/62 in it, and *_* just perfect.

  • hahaha i was @bestbuy today they ha dthis thing left over from 2008 for 699 and throwing in a free frontman25r

  • Mouth for war? :D

  • this guy likes Alice In Chains

  • I hate any simulated sounds or coil taps because usually they sound so generic of what they're trying to simulate, which often makes it sound like shit.

  • two words..... BULL SHIT

I just bought my own american special strat. and all you need is a few effects and ur all set you dont need a synthesizer on it.

  • Ew, tune that shit

  • Wats that Zepplin called that u played at the end of the review ?

  • @triky1995 Over the hills and far away. From the Houses of the holy album

  • @xhaavardx for real lol

  • i choose the les paul

  • i like just good ol fasion les pauls

  • cmon how much is the strato caster?

  • you´re flat

  • @PUIALALI You are correct!!!

  • Goddamnit play the fucking humbucker clean!

  • i think the strat is better because first of all its an american strat thats also cheaper than a american strat and also it has diffrent tuning options and guitar settings. so even if the add ons sound bad you still have an american strat. idk how much the gibson costs but im sure its more expensive than the strat and its also not as versitile.(plus i like fender more than gibson so of course im going to pick the strat lol)

  • still no manson.

  • Dimebag FAIL at 2:10! XD

  • Why not showing the Les Paul when this is a versus? -.-''

  • i have a normal strat and sounds much better than this..

  • you cant play...and your not in tune...FFS!!!

  • Comment removed

  • the synth thing sounds like pure shit

  • y si se te chinga que haras?

  • gibson rocks!

  • wow thats pretty great. good sound :)

  • Change the batteries before the demo man.. The blue light is blinking...

    And the sound is shit..

  • Someone once said...'if the sh*t ain't broke, don't fix it'.

  • weres the robot vid

  • the start sounded like s.h.i.t

  • Nice review man! Keep it up!

  • man, please stop talking and play some guitar!!!!

    and please tune your guitar!!!

  • @PMZpablo OMFG, calm down, ITS A REVIEW. not a "omg, now i will show you my unbelievable skill"-video -,-

  • which is better to play? the VG stratocaster or the gibson les paul robotic?

  • Can it tune itself cause if your gonna demo a guitar you should at least have it in tune!

  • nice guitar....

  • is the vg just "computer" sound? if it isn't it tunes itself really fucking fast...

  • his batteries are about to die watch the blue light blink

  • this beats the robot but the dark fire beats this

  • better than the gibson one

  • they dont have any more do they/

  • I have a Line 6 variax that does similar things. Nice to play - and try different sounds, but unless demo'ing to an interested party, no more versatile than a decent tone control. The 'modelled' sounds are good but not like the real thing.

  • I would have liked to see how good the humbucker sim sounded but he kicked in distortion, thus making it a completely invalid comparison.

  • The HB model is very good. I bought a VG a few months ago and the models are very useful when playing live. But don't try to compare it to the Gibson Robot. they are different. I have both, and they compliment each other. The Strat models different pickups and has a limited alternate tunings. The Robot doesn't model different other guitars. It is a pure Les Paul, but it has 6 programmable tunings. And electronics aside, they are both great guitars in their own right. I say... Get both!

  • worth buying?

  • why would you need a simulated strat sound?

    YOU'RE HOLDING THE STRAT

  • @mercutio123franikin i think its a 70s strat or something, thats what i heard

  • @mercutio123franikin

the vg circuit is bypassed in normal mode,

and you have the normal strat pickups working

  • @mercutio123franikin Yeah but I would imagine that the simulated strat sound would be more towards old school strats. Hendrix/Clapton says. The general strat sound has changed slightly over the years

  • @mercutio123franikin it helps if you are playing a start but your pick ups are getting interference from other devices plug into the power circuit of the the home, bar or stage venue you are playing..When you use the simulated strat you will not get the hum of the single coil pick ups just good old stratish tone.

  • @mercutio123franikin Sixty cycle hum is a pain in the butt. Check out Greg Koch's review of this thing from Premier Guitar, far better than this one.

  • @mercutio123franikin ok well it's one year old comment but I try anyway: you can use the stat sound with the other settings, like open tunings etc. WOOF =)

  • @mercutio123franikin

Greg Koch explained that the simulated strat sound is noiseless, unlike the actual Strat pickups, which will be noisy at high gain levels or with fluorescent lights, especially when you're using a single pickup.

  • @mercutio123franikin It cancels the noise the single coil pickups make.

  • @mercutio123franikin I'm probably one of many to reply. But, it doesn't hurt to say that the simulated strat sound eliminates the 60 cycle hum that a normal strat would have.

  • the 12 string mode just adds chorus

  • +1

i just stay with my simple gibons, distortions and fender amps, simple, but great for tone

  • some players would say all you need is a cigar box and two strings.... but I will stay with my guitars, amps and stomps thank you very much.

  • fender for ever

  • I'd have both!

  • actually the pickup switch still works like a real synth for a guitar if u move the pickup switch it changes the tone

  • Gibson for quality but Fender for versatility

  • Tune the guitar before you start next time... Yeesh :-)

  • why would you need a simulated strat sound if you can use the normall strat pickups lol design fail

  • i was just thinking the same :S

  • So you can use alternate tunings, 12 string effect, etc. When you put it in the normal setting, it IS a normal MIA Strat.

  • So you can use alternate tunings with a Strat sound, or 12 string, or use Strat sounds without hum in a venue with a lot of electrical noise. Duh!

  • VG Stratocaster is the best!!!!!

  • they must not be that great the VG only lasted a year.

  • Gibson

  • Fun guitar. I got mine for $900 out the door from Guitar Center. If you want one, better hurry. They were discontinued and are hard to find. Fun to practice with. You get alot of different sound with which to experiment without having to change you guitar or amp settings. Saves time. In the end it is a solid american strat and has that disinctive sound and feel. A very good guitar for 900 clams.

  • he's saying between 1,700 and 2,500. How did you get yours for that cheap?

    Just haggle with 'em ?

  • i saw the vg at guitar center for around 900. im not sure if they still sell em for that low though

  • nice Zepplin you had at the end

    beastie

  • the new crappy age of "simulation" has arrived on guitars too... sad. soon we'll have guitars that can play for you too...

an ad in 2020 = learning guitar too hard for you?! want to play like your favourite guitar heroes but you still suck?! get the new fender X20394 - it plays for you!!!

    (-_-)

  • youre right dude i want a normal strat or LP not a guitar that play for me this sucks and i will tune my guitar by my self

  • cool

  • i like 12-string sound. it makes it a lot easier to get tht sound when picking instead of using a legit 12 string guitar to try and pick.

  • This is a revolutionary guitar that actually saves you money you shitbird! It gives you the sound of a strat, a tele, and a les paul. He said its $1750 at Guitar Center. This is american made, so if you were to buy all the guitars that this guitar can simulate american made, it would cost you at least $700 for the stratocaster and $650 for the telecaster. Any gibson les paul with the humbuckers that I know of is around $1200. That already $2550 and that's not even counting the acoustics!

  • no you are completely wrong. it does NOT give you the sound of a les paul, and tele. its a synthesized humbucker and telecaster. its called a simulation. grab a dictionary. a real les paul and real telecaster has its own unique sound, produced by the woods, electronics and setup.

i would much rather have a standard les paul or standard stratocaster than these so called "revolutionary" guitars that are filled with all this electronic trash.

  • i prefer a regular stratocaster and les paul.

1.the synthesizer doesnt sound that good

2.i can tune a guitar in less than a minute

    3.its a waste of money

  • completly agree!

  • Comment removed

  • hmm, fender!

but that Strat is taking away like all the fender purity of their intruments

    i prefer a standard strat

  • i prefer gibson

  • i still like my gibson!!

  • Knockin' on heavens door for acoustic FTW!!!!

  • both guitars are just awesome theyre both diffrent worlds so its good to have both ( i got gibson sg and fender strat both for 500$) but what really matters is the amp the amp is more important then the guitar itself since thats what make all the sound that and the mics and pickups on the guitar

  • sorry mate i thought that too when i started to play but i reallised a shit guitar with a good amp sounds like shit whereas a good guitar with a shit amp still sounds better. The structure of the guitar is what makes a certain quality of sound, and the amp is there to, like the name says, amplify that sound. hope that helped

  • well that is true also but it depends if it was made in usa i got a fender strat which are alot better in quality then the squire which i heard was bootleged i mean i dont think it is also the gibson has to be made in usa with parts from here if its imported is crap then but what you say is true but the amp makes a big diffrence to a average guitar

  • he played Mouth For War on the humbucker setting....RAWR PANTERA!

  • i have a fender stratocaster and i´m sure that what you are saying is a big shit

  • fender for sure

  • ya,,,i got this guitar too..when came on 2007...

not bad this vg, just abit troublesome..like need put on 4 aa battery...

anywhere this is new generation fender guitar and can make a history record..:)

  • I dont understand all this techno stuff. Im an acoustic guitar person looking for an electric. How the hell does a switch change the tuning of the guitar? how does that work?

  • the tuners are powered by motors. The switch completes an electrical current for the motors to turn X amount of times to be tuned in X key.

  • theres a hidden pickup under the bridge... it doesn't use any of the real pickups when you switch the tunings.

basically theres a mini pickup under each string's saddle which turns the guitar signal into a MIDI signal which then goes into a built in synthesizer and that's the sound you hear. it has nothing to do with picking up the actual sound of the strings

  • i love fenders but the vg strat really did suck

  • thats fucking crazy dude that strat sounded just like an acoustic

  • nevermind they dont sell vgs anymore

  • now guitar center has the vg between 1000 to 1200 and sam ash has the robot for 1000 to 1200 i am thinking which one but im not sure please tell which one people on youtube

  • i like gibson much more, but i want this one. it's sick. the 12 string effect is sweet.

  • my homemade strat sounds better than the VG strat...

  • the tuning synthesizer would a little confusing to the ear. Your tuning never changes but what comes out the amp is different than what comes out the guitar.

  • especially if your on drop d tuning on a strat,, youll get confused if you hear the sound of the strings which does not come from the amp.

  • Exactly what I was thinking.

  • stratoooooooooooooooooooooooooooo wujuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu

  • How much do these guitars cost?

  • VG Strat : $2500

    Robot LP: $3000

  • you can find them a lot cheaper at stores

  • Got my VG for $1700 the month after it came out

  • and it came with a 60th anniversary hard case at no extra cost :)

  • that version of the strat is awsome

  • that dude needs a haircut, and a shower

  • JAJAJAJAJA

  • so which one is better for a beginner and for rock and metal?

  • For a beginner?

    Squier or Epiphone.

  • and what about the Fender Starcaster Electric Guitar Pack? is it a good guitar?

  • squire is more versitile, but epihone has the sustain and it is better built. id go with epiphone, b/c u will get sick of the squire

  • Well said, squiers are terrible, epiphone kicks their ass.

IMO, Gibson and Fender are neck and neck.

    But I'm a Fender guy.

Not knocking Gibson if that's your style, people need to realise, everyone has their own preference, and great guitar for someone could be a piece for someone else.

    Just ranting.

  • Lol,neither of these are really good for beginners, these are high priced instruments. If you want to play rock and metal I recommend an Epiphone Les Paul, they are good for "heavier" music because they have hum-cancelling(humbucker) pickups.

  • nah id say Jagmaster instead of epi lespaul

but id really recommend ibanez grg/grx cause its got Hum sing hum

  • Yeah,Ibanez is great,especially for their prices,I'm a cheap bastard lol.

  • did he use a distortion pedal for the metal tone?

  • yeah

  • i personaly like Fender Better than Gibson.

  • what does he have on his shirt ?

  • a guitar center logo

  • what led zeppelin song was he playing at the end, i cant remember!

  • Over the Hills and Far away

  • his bottom e was out of tune :-P that g chord didnt sound so good at 0:44

  • He needs to change the batteries.

  • awesome!!!

  • Im a bass player, but still love those gibson and fender guitars

  • Strat VG in my opinion offers so much more than the robot Les Paul

  • yes yes

  • how mcuh does that guitar go for?

  • WTF the Roland pickup can produce a simulated strat sound? It is a Strat! It can simulate itself? lol

  • Pshh no it cant.

  • Ironically, the synthesized Stratocaster sound doesn't sound anything like a Stratocaster. I was most impressed by the acoustic setting and the 12-string emulation. The different tunings were really sweet too. Other than that, you'd have to have a kickass amp to make any of those other settings sound decent.

  • in my opinion when you use synth and modelling you loose all natural sound and it sounds like a very good midi lol i much prefer something that shows of the guitars unique sound

  • its great for stage thoough

  • i get what you mean but like i think for myself i couldnt live with it

  • holy shit !!!

i have to get one of those

  • The other d tuning is not 1/2 step down, although that would be nice.. Its D modal tuning (D A D G A D)

  • if it was actually 1/2 step down, I would have bought one of these. IMO, fender screwed up by not including this tuning. d modal is cool, but just not that widely used.

  • what is so great about this guitar

  • Yes, I agree with the guy in the video. Get the VG Strat at Guitar Center now!!! Guitar Center is selling the VG Strats at clearance price of $999!! If you go during this Memorial Day Weekend, you can pickup the VG for an additional 20% off!! That would be $799!!!! I just got my VG Strat in Blizzard Pearl color for $799 with HSC and all the case candies at my local GC. Get this guitar as very limited quantaties were made due to being discontinued so quickly. Ebay still selling at $1700+

  • song at 3:28?

  • "Over The Hills and Far Away"-Led Zeppelin.

  • vg is cool

  • does the VG strat physically tune the guitar or does the roland synth emulate those tunings?

  • It simulates those tunings. You have to tune the guitar to standard tuning yourself.

  • So if you can hear your guitar its completely different than your amplified signal? I don't think I'd like that. I'll go play it though.

  • The alternate tunning sounds like your strat. It does not sound fake or digital. I suggest you play one if you can and hear for yourself. This is a great guitar, but it was too overpriced IMHO when it came out, thus the down fall for this guitar. The price I paid for, $799, was very cheap with the hardshell case and all the case candies.

  • hmm, i think the gibson dark fire is way better.

it's seriously sick, thats all im sayin

  • This has hum bucking pickups so that's pretty much Gibson's style of guitar.

  • how much is a robot les paul guitar?

  • I still tune my guitar with a chromatic tuner. I would rather tune my own guitar but if they made a guitar that strings itself I'm all for it man.

  • HAVE YOU EVER HEARD OF MIDS?! This is the most paper thing tone I've ever heard. Not to mention the guitar isn't tuned.

  • this is horrible tone.. . the amp your playing thru sucks

  • Amazing....

  • Does that thing have a tuner? What the fuck, does nobody tune their fucking instrument?
