My Fathers younger brother, died of hydrocephalus at age 4 in 1939..no treatments at that time at all available...my Daddy had spina biifida himself, which is from the same genetic defect called "neural tube defects". some are genetic and some of them are caused by too low folic acid in the diet. So in the US now, it is recomended that all women of child bearing age and or pregnant women, take in 400mcg of folic acid daily to help prevent. none of my 4 children inherited this thankfully

It's good that Nhat survived. Hydrocephalus has got to be horrendous.
