  • The problem is, he was doing nothing illegal. If he were, this would be very disrespectful. He's there to enforce the law, not make it.

  • Jon applied to: "Mr. Fisher, if in any way you felt threatened or disrespected by my actions the other night, please allow me to apologize. That was not my intention. I was simply hoping to play a few songs out in the parking lot for some folks who wanted to listen... I would love to find out how to do this sort of thing better for the next time we pass through. We all need each other. We all need second chances. We all need to learn from the replay. The umps, the cops, and me".

  • Jon wrote in an article "Replay: My Standoff with Florida Police": I'm still not sure why the officer wanted the music to stop. We were not the last to leave the parking lot, we were not blocking traffic, and there had been no noise complaints. The only reason he gave was that he wanted to go home. I'm sure that..., Officer Fisher and I would find a few things in common. Yes, after watching the tape, I have reversed my decision: I would have gone for communication instead of one more song...

  • En Argentino: Que MILICO VIGILANTE OMG! No podes cortar asi un aftershow de Jon Foreman! Debe de desayunar con LIMON el cana ese!! no podes......

  • His rock'n'roll side was telling him stay but he knew better. it's all good!

  • The song rocked! Thanks for posting the song!

  • police states suck.

  • I think that this was all just a misunderstanding :) I'm pretty sure Jon never MEANT to disobey.

Btw... can Switchfoot fans show some love? Click on my channel and listen to the first 15 seconds of the song that plays. It's all I ask :)

  • But he only wanted to do one just one more song.

  • Why. There was no point to ruin the awesome going on right there.

  • jon foreman just went up 20 points after seeing this

  • And if this cop wasn't a Christian, rude behaviour by Christians is only going to turn him off.

  • Hey people, first of all, we don't see the whole incident in the video - we don't know if the cop already told them, ok, just one more. Second, It wasn't a public venue, it was still on the private venue property. Third, the Jesus example would have been to submit to the lawful authorities, in this case the cops. The cops weren't being rude, they were just being direct. They had a job to do. Jon was able to play a short set, and then he needed to leave. It's not that difficult really.

  • @usmccp "IT'S OVER, IT'S OVER, LET'S GO" speaks the voice of hierarchical authority, and your rationalization of it demonstrates your place in the hierarchy (not a surprise as you're named usmccp.) Everything is private property. There were no laws against man being committed, only laws against arbitrary property rights.

  • @unku you are correct, there is a hierarchy. Check out how in Romans 13:1-7 God gives the authority to governments - this police officer represents said government, and was not telling the people to do something against Scripture, so I think it's safe to say he was well within his bounds to tell people it was time to go. I think Jon could have left a little sooner, but he was polite and respectful.

  • Dude, I got the other video of this in sync with this one.

  • I love how God can shine through our lives when we're just acting like He would. :)

    Kudos, Jon.

  • i hope jon will do this aftershow in the philippines xD

  • whats the first song called?

  • @outbook

    "Against the Voices"

  • i just had the sudden urge to deck that cop in the face for interrupting Jon while he was making amazing music.

  • jon handled it really well...

  • I loved how Jesus-like Jon's reaction was to the officer. Nothing brash, nothing crude, just, "Hey what's your name? I'm Jon..." :)

  • here's the point, They just had the concert, and it was over now, so many people have to leave and get going. The security needs to look out for the location, property and get things cleared off for the next event. It was probably what, 1230AM in the morning?? Time to go home.. The policeman asked to please move on, and there was some reluctance... He has a BIG job to take care of, probably a 100 or people dealing with security

  • The same thing happened at a show on Scottsdale, AZ!

  • What a power happy asshole.

  • awful policeman ... is the voice of jon are disturbing?? is not.. wth policeman..

  • Comment removed

  • what a disgraceful act from a policeman. no one was going to get hurt. no one was bothering anyone. he didn't listen for one second and acted like a complete fool the entire time. disgrace to the profession. an absolute tool. Jon you're a legend man!

  • when they played a concert a few years ago i got my shirt and cd autographed by them, it was awesome. they didnt have to stay a hour after the show but they did because they wanted to.

  • I totally agree with that police man.. You can't just go somewhere and play beautiful and inspirational music to their devoted and loving fans. That's just nuts! And look at that huge fight those people were in! So uncivilized!

  • Obviously this officer doesnt know who Switchfoot is!! "Hey! I'm Jon Foreman, I do what I want."

  • Well, I can kinda understand the cop's perspective. Most after show gatherings after concerts aren't calm. They normally end up in riots when the artists tries to leave, the cop was just doing his job and preventing that from happened.

that being said, Switchfoot fans are a WHOLE different race of fans. That's what I love about the after show concerts. Everyone becomes friends, we're calm, and nobody is hysterical.

The cops probably haven't seen fans of this caliber before. If only he knew...

  • @emmatter totally true. my friend went to see a switchfoot concert a few months ago and said he and jon had a normal, one-on-one conversation in the street afterwards. too cool.

  • @Triggerblame I know, they're pretty cool like that. I talked to him and Drew about the awesomeness of glowsticks for while. I was actually surprised at how long we talked about them...lol I wish all of them would hang out with the fans.

  • @emmatter CAlm? Some switchfoot songs make me wanna mosh and jump and stuff! Haha I guess thats just your opinion... ;)

  • @Ryanishere4u I totally agree! But Jon doesn't play those at aftershows.

  • Jon is such a gentleman.

  • The police-man was definitely just LOOKING for people's ATTENTION. In my languange (INDONESIA), we call it 'NORAK'.

  • jon was just building his street cred

  • Well, whatever company that owns the venue is probably gonna can that officer & be profusely apoligizing to all those patrons. lol

  • Hellz naw! No one does that to Jon Foreman!

  • that police officer is a party pooper! i dont see y Jon Foreman had to leave. well, if its the authority, i guess we should follow.

  • @justKevin213 Authority is there for us to follow, yes, but not blindly. That idiot cop should at LEAST have given a good reason to kick out one of the greatest singers of the modern age.

  • honestly think we should just enjoy the first half of the video, forget about the cops, they were just trying to do their job, and maybe a few mistakes were made, but LOVE that song

  • Scrawny little officer should get backup if he's gonna mess with a crowd like that. If Jon wasn't so nice he'd introduce that guys ass to the concrete.

  • i'm ashamed of my home state.

  • The reason the cop kicked everyone out was because the venue is liable for people still in their parking lot after the show. It's his job to clear everyone out before he can go home. Sure, he could've been a little less rude and explained things better, but I can understand being tired and wanting to go home after a long night. Give the officer a break, he's just doing his job.

  • whats that song?

  • Hahahaha was Jon high? at 5:50, he goes, Your name is fisher? hiiiiiii fisher =D

    lol XD

  • Thats horrible. Jon's aftershows are something to be experienced by all of his fans- really special. I will always remember my first aftershow that I was lucky enough to attend and am sorry for those whose got interrupted.

  • what was he doing for the cop to tell him to stop?? I didnt see anything wrong or illegal there. stupid officer.

  • dude, thats horrible, the cop is such a hipocrite about talking about respect, he didnt even shake Jon's hand when he tried to talk to him.

  • where is this? Russia? Why can't people be on the street? ooooh yea... "free" contry

  • this is ridiculous! why jon couldn't play more? there was nothing going on, everyone were calm and just watching it, absolutely no reason for doing that... and jon is so cool, handled it very well. too bad he had no choice but to end the aftershow concert... =\

  • That stupid officer really was on a power trip. Clearly had nothing better to do. What a fucking party crasher!

  • I don't understand why the cop wanted to break up the show? was it a silly thing like "loitering"? so lame.

  • The song has nothing to do about God.

I'm a Christian, but I'm not gonna go over searching for deep, religious meaning in every little thing.

Jon was being Jon-loving on good people after a show because he loves people, because he cares about people-because he gives a sh*t.

The cop was just a crotchety old man whose hateful attitude will cause no one to recall his name, but no one will forget his spiteful actions.

  • i bet that cop is an atheist.... haha

  • why did they take him???

  • sure the enemy does not want Jon keep on playing. aw. that police Switchfoot Rules!!! more power Jon Foreman!! - Danielle, Philippines

  • that cop is a cocker

  • I'm so proud to say that i was there. the guy sitting right next to him is me,the one in red, and one of my best friend Greg is ther eas well. and chiquis. yeahhh irvin martin castilla was there

  • The first song Jon played two nights later in St. Louis was Come Home.

  • *Don't taze me, bro!*

  • Haha Jons such a rebel. Fighting for the love of Christ

  • @12EmilysStupid no he wanted to play music. i hope your name is emily. because you are definitely stupid.

  • @Berishman Um. Thanks for the insult, but singing about Gods love is showing Gods love. Nothing about my post was insulting. I love Jesus and i hope you do too.

  • @12EmilysStupid uh considering this song wasnt about jesus at all... its about overcoming your inhibitions.

  • what ass holes fuckin swine

  • stupid policeman :P lol.. Jon is awesome!

  • I would have been like ... cops ... i'm Jon ... Jon Foreman! haha

  • It's because of people like Jon Foreman, who really care, that make this world a better place. Jon just wanted to talk to the officer, and he wasn't even listening.

  • @hellohurricane2 So true. He had the most calm and agressive-less attitude you could ever have. That stupid officer on a power trip was just to happy to finally actually have something to do and being a pain in the ass of someone.

  • @TheTenToMention you realize it's an acoustic aftershow, right? You've probably heard his "weak" music on the radio and in movies.

  • @MLODSGNS No I never heard this crap before.

  • @TheTenToMention there's a good chance you've been living under a rock ;)

  • @MLODSGNS Maybe, but that singing is way off-key, it sounds nearly as bad as my singing voice. The guitar is mediocre too.

  • @PsiCaptain He just finished a concert. His voice is worn out. What do you expect?

  • @PsiCaptain What a horse arse you are. He just sang a whole concert, of course he's not at his best, besides its a freaking cell phone or camcoder recording or something similar. Not exactly the best way to capture the warmth of an accoustic guitar. If you don't like it just leave it to us fans. Jerk.

  • @TheTenToMention excuse me?

  • @01DragonWriter You're excused

  • @TheTenToMention don't you even think about trying to mess with me so do yourself a favor shut up and leave me alone

  • @01DragonWriter you're a spoiled brat nobody made you reply to my initial post. You started it.

  • @TheTenToMention well excuse me for being defensive but i am no spoiled brat

  • that is aweful... i would have cried had I been there!

  • @blueroseAMOR7 almost did, actually

  • @katey1992 I totally agree with what you wrote on the description of the video. The cops dragging your hero away like he's a worthless dog... .just not right :(

  • @blueroseAMOR7 I WAS THERE. I'M THE ONE SITTING RIGHT NEXT TO HIM IN RED

  • @blueroseAMOR7 so would i

  • what an idiot! obviously the police have some issues.. lol

jon is a very peaceful man but if was there i will surely punch the officer not because i like to fight or argue but because some people just need to learn some lessons...

  • I'm curious how many people were there and witnessed the incident in person??? Yea thats what i thought..... Hold your toung then!

  • Did I hear that right? The officer actually says to that girl trying to reason with him "I've got a home to go home to", sounds like he was at the end of his duty and just wanted to close the aftershow down before he finished. What. A. Loser.

  • @th3spy OMG you're right!!!!!!

  • This is the type of police behavior that incites riots. If he explained why they had to disperse before moving them than everyone would have been very compliant. Shouting at everyone and telling them to move because he happens to have the power to do so does not make it okay.

  • does this officer have NO idea that this is Jon...as in JON FOREMAN??? Dude, he;s a professional musician, and there are much more important things happening on the streets than Jon's (amazing) voice and guitar playing, rediculous, he;s not upsetting anyone, so why was he stopped?

  • what a bummer man. Jon Foreman is awesome! =)

  • oh my gosh! not fair. I would've been super sad.

  • mean OLD cop person!!!! God bless you, Jon, for keeping your cool and being so respectful even when the cop was...well, you know...you're a GREAT role model!

  • Tampa Police DID NOT even know about this incident, seems the officer NEVER even reported it..

  • Pretty sure there's no law against standing in the middle of the sidewalk, playing a guitar... If people gather around, people gather around. So... Legal basis, please? And considering he got himself on YouTube, methinks this cop is probably going to get an official reprimand of some sort.

  • On the other hand, if the cops would have left and something happened, it still would have been the cop's fault- as we are a society of no selfresponsability. Clearly dude was wanting to close it down and go home, but I would have let him play one more.

  • Terrible venue. I've been there once. The staff there oozes contempt. Cops walk around glaring at everyone.

It used to be the Ford Amphitheater and now its the 1-800-Ask-Gary Amphitheater.

Corporate venue for corporate music and Jon and the kids got the corporate treatment.

  • wow what a freaking ahole

  • Holy cow. Seriously? Jon does these after shows all the time-- I've been to one myself! They are not rowdy affairs. This was unnecessary.

  • That must be a SERIOUSLY bored officer!! Can somebody PLEASE tell me the legal basis for breaking up this oh-so-(NOT)-rowdy bunch? I mean, seriously!! What is WRONG with this guy??!

  • @audioajunkie

If the police find it a safety issue, they can break up the crowd.

  • @DavidKleinfeld75 -- where exactly is the "safety issue" in a handful of people quietly listening to a single guitarist play an AMAZING song on private property...??
