GREAT song and it sure seems appropriate. Really fits him. I remember on one of the shows, it was mentioned that he loved rock and roll and he always had music blasting. I listen to this song and I can just picture him at home, rocking out while working on one of the motorcycles he kept inside his home. You just gotta love the man. I hope his kids know that they are in our thoughts. Alot of us have walked the road they are now on and we know how truly painful it can be. I wish them peace.

pulmonary embolism got him the 2nd time. same thing that took him off the boat 1/2 of last season only this time he went down to the floor while he was on the boat. I think they blamed Phil's smoking (9.5 packs/day, unbelievable), so a few of the other guys from the show have said they're going to quit smoking.
Captain Phil worked hard and played hard. He obviously lived life to the fullest every single day as a man should. He was definately a great man of the 3 Fs. Father...Friend...and Fisherman. Phil was my main reason for watching the show.

I know this man only from a TV show. I would have loved an opportunity to sit down at a bar with this guy and have a beer and listen to some of the tales that he would have most likely shared w/ the slightest of arm-twisting. Captain Phil Harris seemed like an awesome guy that would kick your ass if you messed up, but would also pat you on the back when you did good. A man w/ a heart and integrity. I never met Captain Phil in person....but I'm sure glad that I watched him on the show.
Have fished Seward rivers and out of Homer, Alaska, these guys are tough, would take the hurricanes of Galveston, TX compared to what they do!!!!! ANYDAY!! Thought I would die when fishing out of Homer, AK for Cod and Halibut for ONE DAY!!, These guys are awesome, and I do labor and delivery nursing in Houston, TX. Will miss P. Harris everytime I eat Crab or cold water fish. Pray for his family everyday. Love in Christ, Suellen

I'm a U.S. Sailor and I know what it's like being up for over 24 hours and working my ass off. And I have enjoyed going to the bar spending money after being at sea for months at a time. It's been really hard to watch ' Deadliest Catch' tonight, seeing Captain Phil and knowing he's gone, that his boys will have to carry on without him. I never realized the danger all these men go through to feed us, until I watched this show. No wonder great crab fishermen are few and far between. We'll miss you Phil, more than you'll ever know.

It's been really hard to watch ' Deadliest Catch' tonight, seeing Captain Phil and knowing he's gone, that his boys will have to carry on without him. I never realized the danger all these men go through to feed us, until I watched this show. No wonder great crab fishermen are few and far between. We'll miss you Phil, more than you'll ever know.

Even though he smoked, it was his choice. To say that someone "deserved" to die for smoking is childish and immature. He put on a good show and he was a good fisherman.

My Prayers and thoughts are with his two boys. He was a tough man with a tough business to run, only real men can do what he did! The show will not be the same; he was the heart and soul. My favorite show...RIP my friend, the sea will miss you too.

(part 2) Hours grind into evenings and the evenings into days. Captain wont leave the wheel house till the last pots aboard and belayed, Now the Captains met his quota and to port were headed with speed, For its Duck Farts and stogies for all crew for the Captain of the Cornelia Marie.
