Yes, the Communist won and took over South Vietnam, Laos, and Cambodia. Vietnam, and Laos is still under Communists rule to this day.

This series is special in ways besides just outdoor survival. It's extremely rare for a white male produced media to state conflicts between whites and non whites in a factual and non bias manner.

Ray Mears has gained my respect and a sense of trust, especially so when he so delicately inserted the phrase containing "American invaders" rather then American peace keepers as is so ubiquitous in American and British media.

@LiFetommi You base that statement on what exactly? You've never heard of a recon flight? Captain Chuck Klusmann was flying with VFP-63, The Eyes of The Fleet, a recon squadron. He was flying an RF-8, not a bomber by any stretch of the imagination. Since the RF-8 he was flying was unarmed, I doubt he was getting ready to bomb anyone.

@Snipe4261 Actually the VC used a lot of M1s and other American weapons provided to them during WW2 when they were allies fighting the Japanese. They also captured large numbers when the French were defeated, since the French also used large numbers of American weapons.

It's rather annoying that he talks about the vietcong as if they were competent fighters. America lost the war because of politics, not because they lost the battles. They had a kill ratio of about 20:1, so the vietcong were literally getting slaughtered. I don't see why he praises a group of people who died like flies.
