Listen...what is the alternative? You say you hate American society with it's "excess" (which is not even accurate, it is incredibly easy for a human being to become obese even with very little food), but is it REALLY excessive? Definitely, but not like you might think. United States workers (those that actually have jobs...) work more hours than any other work force on the globe in order to sustain themselves and the U.S.' massive economy, while at the same time doanting more than anyone else.
Actullay, Japan is the largest international aid donor. Let's face it, we are living off of the sacrifices made by the WWII generation. Despite our technology (because the U.S. INVESTED in engineering education in the '50 and '60s) we are not making the gains that we should be. I wish the U.S. had ONE decade where it is not involved in an armed conflict. You should read 'The Ultramind Solution.' We are eating MORE not BETTER. Lobbyists are deciding what we are consuming and believing.
No, Japan definitely is not. The U.S. is actually by far the largest donor of foreign aid across the globe, a quick google search can prove this.
The U.S. living off the sacrafices of the WWII generation? Don't play that card, the entire world is living of the sacrafices of WII, we have so far learned from our mistakes.
Listen, simply recognizing problems in a society or nation is not enough...understanding those problems and the circumstances that surround them is just as important.
The U.S. is also in turn almost COMPLETELY supporting Iraq's, Japan's, China's, Afghanistan''s (kinda), and Venezuela's economy. Without U.S. consumers the world as we know it would quite literally collapse...modern capitalism would fail, which would effect basically the entire Earth because of the recent sucess of Globalization in the past few decades following the Cold War.
In the big scheme of things, fast food and plastic surgery is very much the least of our problems.
Actually, China is pushing for a currency other than the U.S. dollar as a valuation measurement. The Euro perhaps? The only economy that I can definitely say the U.S. is completely supporting is Israel's; in which its businesses recieve guaranteed loans funded by the U.S. taxpayer! Let's face it, The U.S. is no longer the center of the economic universe. The enemy is at the gate and this country is too busy to care about its own manufacturing base and the inability to educate its own citizens.
I am not talking about currency, I am talking about CONSUMERS. American consumers purchase everyone's goods...especially China's. Like I said if the U.S. and it's population was to dissapear right now, the entire world would economically collapse. Period.
And Israel would definitely be able to sustain itself withou the U.S...at least now, it wasn't that way before, but thanks to the U.S. Israel has come a long way. Economically Israel is amazingly sulf sufficient.
C'mon. Israel is not self sufficient, If the U.S. goes so does Israel. That's the reality. Israel has never existed under its own security.
How can one not talk about currency when speaking of consumers? Arrow heads have greatly lost their value, sorry to say. One can wear the rose colored glasses and not see the sun setting on the American Era; largely due to mismanagement and exploitation. Unless a nation or federation can stay innovative and competitive, it's bound to collapse.
@thomasincali I have to agree with imperial.. USA is the modern day rome. When its down so is the world. But I disagree with something you both fear. There is no collapse in the near future.
I can't agree with that one, buddy. I feel the song is not only about the physical threat to other nations America can pose, but also about the materialistic and ego centrism the U.S. can be accused of.
Apparently someone hates fast food and plastic surgery...

I only hate what this kind of excess is doing to people.
