the dancers and musicians are all slovak, none of them is born in the region where highlanders live. but, the group Muzicka tries to preserve folclore in its authentic form, as much as possible. the songs are from a region in Northern Slovakia called Orava (villages Hladovka, Sucha Hora), there are also songs from the other side of Tatra Mountains, e.g. from Koscielisko, which is a place on the way from Witow to Zakopane (Poland, just behind the border w. Slovakia). Hladovka to Koscielisko 18km
I'm not sure if these are Polish outfits becauste the girls does not have "dziewjynciornik" on their back and guys have different " parzynice" on their pants. On Slovakian side they have similar clothes, but the details make them different. It's all I know and am not trying to be mean to anybody. Just few good words of advice:)
Well, the forefathers of 2 groups, in today Poland(gorals) and Czech Republik(valas)were orthodox romanian shepards from Transylvania and Maramuresh, pushed by the hungarians to quit their homelands. The hungarian, polish and austrian documents tell the story of this people. They've lost,in time and in a mayoritary slavic environement, their language, with the exception of some words. They had slightly darker skin and hairs, and were called valash or vlasi by their neighbours.Their law was the"jus valach
