Usually the juice out of the vrt flows out fairly well without tipping out. I do not recommend "juicing" with your blender, as it does oxidize the "mixture" more than a low speed juicer, which will lessen nutrition. In addition, you will need to ADD a fair bit of water when blending wheatgrass which tends to get wrapped around the blender blade.
I've been using the VRT juicer for juicing the past week I've been juicing juices. It's to great use, the juice tastes what juice used to taste like, when they didn't use chemicals in juices. Thx John
John, these juicing demos & comparison videos are invaluable. I would never buy a juicer untill I have watched one or more of your videos. Your grasp of the subject & all the extra info are terrific. Thanks so much for this service.
Just a side note for lazy people like me out there: Parsley has virtually the identical nutrient/mineral/enzyme profile as wheatgrass. So, if you don't want to go to all of the trouble and expense of procuring wheatgrass, parsley is a fine replacement. I also happen to hate the taste of wheatgrass but still want to benefit from such a nutritious plant.
Hey John - I bought the Vert and love it! I wanted to ask you if I can juice SUGAR CANE in it, if so - can you do a video and if not - which juicer should I use for it? Thanks
I grow wheat-grass at home and i have got over the taste, but i grow the grass on organic multi-purpose compost only. What do you mean by rock dust and where could i purchase it?
wooooow....cure a cutt, acne, good health nature truley is something else. mother nature is truly Wonderful, too bad father Corporates creations are consumed more.
Yes, you can juice it. I would only juice the baby grass, as the older blades may be more fiberous and harder to juice. You also do not want to juice your lawn if you have been spraying herbicides or fertilizers on your lawn, or dogs have recently visited your lawn.
John: can you explain "pulpier juice"? Does it mean the quality of the juice is less (meaning less nutrients)? I know you haven't seen studies on this (if they have ever been conducted) but do say what you think.
Also, what does the presence of foam mean? More oxydation?
John--need to know which is the best all-around juicer for wheatgrass PLUS root veg and all leafy greens, cucumbers etc. Seems to me based on your vids that the Omega 2004/2005/2006 is a more versatile juicer. I won't be making much besides juice with them but I want the best juicer for dense veg AND leafy greens. ??? thx
Where did you get the idea that there is an omega 2004/2005/2006? That comes up some times? There ARE NO 2004 2005 and 2006 models. There are 8004 8005 and 8006 models. For juicing wheatgrass, leafy greens and other things, the 8004 or 8006 should do fine. It all depends on the combination of things you will be juicing. the 8004 and 8006 juice carrots, etc fine, but just "not as good" as other juicers - (in yield) that being said other juicers dont juice greens as good..
The more leafs you juice (or blades of grass) the more airspace is inside the machine, and more "foam" is created. This can be reduced by juicing carrots, celery or something else with the wheatgrass. Or you can add some drops of oil into the machine to take up the extra airspace, which will reduce foaming.
Yes, I have juiced ordinary grass before. Its not as tasty. There is a guy I know called the wheatgrass messiah.. He collects wild-grown grasses and other greens and juices them. One of the main benefits of juicing grasses and other greens is chlorophyl. Deer graze on wild grasses and other leaves all the time.
don't you have to clean the wheatgrass before you juice it? Or it'll be filled with fungus, bacteria, worms won't it? I just started on a raw vegetable diet and I soak my vegetables in baking soda water 10-15 mins before eating.
@marklung Rinse/wash is good, I doubt about baking soda , why not use ordinary salt - 1 gr per 100mL ought to do it.. Better have organic..
You won't believe the amount of fungi we already consume, bread contains fungi - yeast.. Humans breathe, that's another source of airborn fungi, spores etc
Worms, you can spot with the naked eye.
Bacteria are also everywhere, money, doorknobs...
When it comes to food, we get terrified right away about other lifeforms and the diseases they can cause.. funny
You Can. You would want to make sure there are no sprays on it. It would be best to juice young grass, as its more nutritious than grass that is older.
@rawfoods thanks for your reply. How is the cleanup on the 8000 series and how big is the juicer? I had a Green Star and sold it due to its huge size and rather cumbersome cleanup. Thanks!
Hi, You say, "If you wanted to juice mostly leafy greens and other greens, go for the Omega 8004 or 8006."
Planning on buying the 8006 to juice pretty much anything I can, including wheat grass, but was wondering: Are you implying at all that the 8006 works best with leafy greens and that juicing such things as apples, celery, etc, isn't as good with 8006? If not, what have you found in your research of juicing harder vegetables/fruits?
Thanks, John. I really have enjoyed watching your videos on the different types of juicers. I've owned several centrifugal juicers over the years and never juiced greens. I only recently discovered that I love the flavor of wheat grass. But at $2.50 an ounce I decided that I'd invest in a good masticating juicer. A week ago I bought an Omega 8006. My greens grocer has been happy to see me! :) And I'm growing a flat of sprouted wheat berries. Youtube vids tips have helped me greatly. Thanks!
for a college student just starting in juicing which one would you recommend? Ive herd wonderful things about both juicers :) do you sell used juicers as well?
It depends on what you want to juice. Be sure to check my other videos on selecting the best juicer for you. We rarely sell used juicers. Please check the clearance section of our web site for juicers that are currently available.
cool video and I'm glad I bought the 8006 from you. By the way, can you show us sometime your steps for growing wheatgrass at home? Use Ocean Grown water or rock dust or both?
Did you tip over the vrt? There you can get still quite a bit. Also the foam has fluid in it.
It might be better to put the grass in a vitamix to get all nutrients out.

you dont wash the wheat grass before juicing... why? is it clean already?
myzzio 3 weeks ago
The wheatgrass was grown in my greenhouse, so I did not feel washing was necessary.
rawfoods 2 weeks ago
@myzzio over-washing our greens is why we are B12 deficient

pulpier juice = more fiber in the juice. more foam = more oxygen being introduced into the juice due to the "air space" in the juice process.

Its a preference thing. Some people dont mind, some people hate it. Some even love it. Just strain it if you dont like it.

As shown in this video, it made a higher yield. You can drink the foam. Generally more foam=less juice.. The foam will "settle" into juice..
