  • That beat is crazy!!! Old skool styling is always welcomed!!

  • damn I want one. its expensive for an old piece of equipment...

  • The audio and vid is waaayyy off sync!!! :(

  • can u tell me how u set up ur Emu sp 1200 thru the s950?

  • can u tell me how u set up ur Emu sp 1200 thru the s950?

  • The sound and groove of the SP1200 is great. But I hate the feel of it. All plastic and hard. Much like the MPC with the pads better

  • im kind of new to making music, but how would you put a drum break in time with the metronome would you have to chop it up. or do you have like a time stretch process?

  • man thats old school

  • SP1200 4 Life...

  • That was one of the first drum machine i bought, back in 95. I bought it brand new and sold it after a few months. Just didn't have the patient to learn it. Than years later i bought a classic triton 61 or 64 key. I had that for about a year and change and sold it. Now i work with all Propellerhead programs, Reason 5 and reason record 1.5. The kong drum machine sounds gritty and rugged like the sp1200. Trust me with some good speakers and interface mac computer it's over. Reason Rule. Peace

  • I love the sound and groove of the SP1200 but god is it ugly and weird lookin hahaha

  • For a minute, I thought I was buggin' out....but the sync is way off in respect with the audio to the video.

  • In your example all your sounds are triggered on the "one " which sound robotic.

Have you tried looping on the snare ? I always start & end the loop on the snare as its more accurate & less predictable on the ear as its harder to detect the joins..It will obviously depend on the sample but its better & sounds more natural especially if your triggering additional sounds.

you may have to mess about with your one shot triggering but its worth the effort.

sly stones got breaks 4 days

  • amazing set up! probably the greatist combo of all time, im lookin to get an sp n 950 just 1 question before i do kud i midi up the sp????????? kuz those buttons dont look so great to play, if not i will ruff it out tho.

  • omg its dope...but sp and 950 was good bac in da dayz but now its not good...but the beat is god

  • smh@kissmarton

  • @kissmarton why was it just good back in the days???? why is it not good anymore? for those that still use it its the bomb!

  • Good use of the "Slide" sample.I have "the Best of Slave" CD with that track on it.Nice vid.

  • @dubbsway4life Thanks

  • @dubbsway4life grass

  • @massusm25 wtf ?

  • sounds like a beat kool keith would rap over.

  • @TheHevquip Thanks

  • @TheHevquip WOW HEVQUIP UR LIKE THE ONLY PERSON IV E EVER HEARDE OF KOOL KEITH I SEEN HIM IN LA SHOW WAS DOPENESSSSSSS...PEACE

  • @frankone702 fuck yeah, i started to get into his stuff around 14 years ago (?) but i had to wait until these last 2 or 3 years until i finally got to see him and it was so worth it! wish he'd tour out more often. ROCKETS ON THE BATTLEFIELDS, BITCHES!

  • umm its alright. i wanna see how pete rock used to flip his joints on the sp

  • Lol whenever I watch this guy or hear his voice I get angry! Mad nice setup though dunny

  • pardon my lack of knowledge but can the s950 be used to make beats on its own? Im just curious cos i always see guys who have an s950 have a sp1200 as well, like thats the only way to use them? Is this the set up Large Pro used to use? I hear him mentioning the s950 some times. Anyway thanks for the cool video.

  • From what I've gathered no. If I'm wrong please correct me on this, but you use the s950 to sample because it has a longer sampling time and nice filters and whatnot, but you need a sequencer of some sort to trigger these samples when making your beat. Hence the SP + 950 combo.

  • the clicking during beat making drives me nuts sometimes... tap tap tap, click click click... we're working on inventing rubber SP1200 pads... we're working on it... ++ DRUMAT!C

  • Its fantastic how incredibly cool music was done with only 8 voices of polyphony, makes me happy when i listen to it.

  • How much sampling time does the s-950 have?

  • ya damn right son....

  • SP 1200 and S950..Game over!

  • u know that throw in asr 10 and were talking ridicolous

  • I LOVE YOU!

Do you wanna marry me...& play with your TOYS?!

    Please!

    SOEKI

  • The loop is cool. Remember "Because I Got It Like That"? Classic Jungle Brothers track.

The sound of the vid is out of sync though. Can you fix that?
