Mann´s first Movie was "Jericho Mile" from 1979 featuring Peter Strauss, award-winning movie. I highly recommend it.

By the way, if you want to get a deeper understanding of Mann´s world, buy the special edition of "Heat" and read the novels of Eddie (Edward) Bunker, one of Mann´s technical advisors.
