  • As we say in country music: Dang!

Get yourself a rocking chair out on a street corner and put out a hat, Paul. If you're pickin' that good when you're just foolin' around on YouTube, might as well rake in a bunch of money while you're at it.

    Just really fine, Paul.

  • @RobMacKendrick

Hi, really glad you enjoyed it. I'll look for an inflatable rocking chair for my new gig : )

  • I could listen to this composition over and over and never get tired of it. I love your music and how it sounds on the Cello Banjo.

  • @bluedanbob

Wow! That's the nicest kind of affirmation I could ever hope for. Thank you so much.

  • This is absolutely fantastic. I know very little of music but your banjo music is just awe inspiring. Very happy to have stumbled across your videos. They are all so great to listen to and just absorb.

  • @DasRaskalKing

I'm happy you stumbled across them as well. That's the cool thing about the Internet; how it can tie us all together.

  • @strumstering And of course I can come to realize I seriously enjoy listening to the banjo. Perhaps you could record some more of your talents? And of course your nearly as impressive hat collection.

  • @DasRaskalKing Hi, thanks for listening to my music. It's true, I haven't recorded any videos in quite a while. Thanks for encouraging me to do so. Lately I've been posting my music on banjohangoutdotcom in the Sound-Off section under my name, Paul Roberts. I've been doing a lot of music on a wooden banjo -- a mandola-lute tuned like a 5-string banjo. But I do intend to start putting up videos again. Please stay tuned.

    Thanks,

    PauL at banjocrazydotcom

  • are those nylon strings?

  • @clawhammerable Yes, silver wound nylon.

  • I love it. Beautiful sound, beautiful melody.

It recalls me Persian music...I enjoy listening to it.

    Thanks

  • What's the tuning?..

  • @RJGrones gCGCD an octave below double C on a standard 5-string banjo.

    Cheers,

    PauL

  • Don't see these too often. It's got a great sound!

  • @Burritez Thanks. Glad you enjoyed it.

  • I have got to get a cello banjo. I love the tone, it's amazing. Great song!

  • Surbahar, eh? Any chance for a video of that? What a great sound.

  • wow! great!

  • I haven't played my banjo in forever, this song makes me 1) play it again 2) learn it as well as this guy

  • @dushok3000 dushok, I hope you do take up the banjo again. Let me know when you post something. I appreciate your comment.

  • @Getyouryayas Thanks Steven. It's wonderful to get the feedback that a connection has occurred; that's what makes it all worthwhile. I appreciate your comment.

  • I love this. Such a great groove.

Puts me in a mood that i really like

  • @doucette doucette, your comment "Puts me in a mood that i really like," is the highest compliment a musician could hope to receive. Thanks, PauL

  • Paul just beautiful .. I really want to try one of the six string GT 's for dADGAD as in sawmill in D .. . Fun . I remember Bob Carlin as a young guy teaching banjo at a summer camp in Connecticut in the early 70's when I was playing square dances around there .. Nice he had his own instrument . All the best , Guy Sorry we lost both Mike Seeger and Ray Alden this season .. Gone but not forgotten .

  • Very nice tune, well played. Sort of like an American surbahar. Quesion: Which are you using, index or middle?

  • I'm using index, middle and ring fingers - individually and together. When I'm fretting the first and third strings together, I'm hitting the first string with ring and the third string with index, which allows me to get a two string chord on nonadjacent strings. .

You're description of "American surbahar" is apt; I also play sitar and sarod.

Thanks for your comment and for listening.

    Regards, PauL
