  • Nice. Now come play my new HD28 like that, and if it sounds just as good, I might just keep it!

  • How does Esta-Juan's compare.

  • I read some of these comments with amazement. It's pretty clear which have a modicum of true experience with Martin, Collings or other high end guitars. I own both, a brand spanking new Collings CW and a Martin HD 28 that I bought new in 1987 (it is a real race horse). Both are wonderful rosewood dreadnoughts. There is no doubt that the Collings is hands down the better of the two, by a long shot. No hype. You get what you pay for.

  • @slwilley1 Well the CW Collings has a LG sound hole. The HD 28 does not. Compare it to a Clarence White HD 28. Which has the LG. sound Hole.

  • ive had martins hd 28s d42 d45v all great guitars but the collings d2h brz beats them all for sheer volume and rich tone . but thats just my opinion

  • sounds great. makes my big baby sound like ass

  • @boogiechillen123 It is ass Taylor over rated shit.

  • frigin beautiful guitar

  • nice stuff. great sounding guitar.

  • I have the exact same guitar too. Mine is a '97. The only one I have ever seen without a pickguard. I guess someone special ordered it like that. phenomenal guitar!!

  • I have this model too, and I have to say, probably the best guitar I have ever played. You did it justice..!! Wish I could..:-)

  • Beautifulll guitar.

  • I'm buying a spankin' new Collings D1 tomorrow. I can't wait. Ha ha ha ha! It will be all mine!

  • @kwolek420 Don't waist your money buy a Martin

  • @bluegrasssingingman Can't agree with you. I have played good Martins and not so good Martins, but for sheer consistency you can't beat a Collings. I have never played a bad one. In terms of wasting money, I agree they are very expensive, but you get what you pay for.

  • @Stratboy999 Then tell why your playing a copy of a Martin? Tell all of us then, if some Martins are ok and some all just bad. Why is Collings trying to make all their top line after Martins guitars? After you tells us all wondering. Why is it that all the guitar companies On the market, and custom builders copying Martin Guitars if their just ok. If Martin was just ok. Why are they the oldest guitar company in history still in buisness, and still #1. Since 1833?

  • @bluegrasssingingman - I think Bill Collings took the best elements of Martin & improved on the design. Actually the D2H is not a 'copy' of the Martin D28, if you check out the neck attachment & so forth. The construction is distinct. Where Martin's longevity is concerned I would applaud that but it doesn't guarantee quality. Most small / medium builders pay more attention to detail than established brands because they must, to build their reputations & survive and that costs wonga....

  • @bluegrasssingingman You are joking of course. You have your taste and I have mine. I could buy an equivalent Martin for a less than I paid for the Collings. There's no 'wannabe' to it at all. I wanted the best.

  • @Stratboy999 Collings is not the best. Thats why their coping all Martin Guitars. Collings are good but over priced. Most of them cost more then who they copy. Then you say Martin's longevity is a concerned and that you would applaud that but it doesn't guarantee quality. What are you smoking. Martin been here since 1833. Martin has been rated #1 since. what more you need. Collings dream of being Martin. They even copy Tony Rice, Clearance White. The only thing Collings is good for is to copy .

  • @Stratboy999 your copy of a Hd-28 V cost more then a Martin it copies. I can buy 4095 list Martin HD-28V for around 3000 Your Collings copy list For just under 4000, and it sells for around 34-35 give or take. Go look on the mandolin store.

  • @Stratboy999 lol you mean 'I wanted the best for ME'. If you are talking the best for general I can't help to give martin more credit.

  • @dydwlsxodful You are quite right. It was the best for me.

  • @Stratboy999 Thats a matter of Opinion, Collings can't say since 1833, and #1 selling guitar still today.

  • @Stratboy999 Sorry the Collings D2H Adi / Madagascar is over 6000 almost 7000. Just a little different rosewood. The d2h still is going to cost you more and not hold the value of the Martin hd 28 V. So learn about your guitars. a d-28 is not the hd-28. or the hd-28 V. I never said a copy of a Martin d-28. I did say Once again A MARTIN HD-28V FOR VINTAGE which is all prewar. I believe is 1920's to 1930's.

  • @Stratboy999 Yeah it's copy of a Martin d-28V. The Collings cost 6000,and the real thing. A Martin cost 3000. in 30 years the Martin will be worth 6000 and the Collings 3000. Lets see you said you get what you pay for. I own a 1973 Martin d-35 worth 3800, and a new one cost 2250. I think Martin prove you get what you pay for. They more then hold their value.

  • @bluegrasssingingman a new one today is 2250 in 1973 I think they cost about 600. now thats not list. thats what you pay.

  • @bluegrasssingingman -Hi, i can't help but laugh when I read this post. 1st of all, near all acoustic makers "copy" Martin's design(s) as one could argue everyone "copies" the esquire/tele as it was the 1st viable solid body electric. However, to think Collings mearly "copies" Martin is simply untrue. I own 3 Martins and 1 Collings-all are abusurdly good and I do reach for the Collings more oft than not but my D45 is one bad,bad acoustic. The nod goes to Martin for longevity but time will tell.

  • @akbamg Collings do copy Martin, They have a few copies of Martin. Tobe honest every time they make a guitar. It's in their bracing. It's called PREWAR Forward Shifted Scalloped Bracing. Anyways I never said every guitar they copy. Don't think for a moment Collings. Don't try to copy how Martin makes guitars, and they way Martin does make them. Thats like saying Collings don't copy Gibson mandolins. Every F5,F2,F4. That Collings make is a copy of Gibson. That covers about every model.

  • @bluegrasssingingman Are you going on several colling videos and bombing the brand? Seriously?

  • @Kingddd333 Know but But most Collings owners, like bombing Martins. I've just stated my opinion. I can't help if they reply to me, and their pissed off. I can't help it if they don't know Collings copy a lot of Martins. So if they want to pay twice the money for a copy of a Martin. Thats their choice,to pay for something over priced. They can't handle the truth. So a lot of Collings owners like to in salt Martin owners. I was nice, I did say Collings are better then Taylor and Gibson.

  • @bluegrasssingingman Well I cannot say anything on that because I haven't played any of those brand name acoustics haha.

  • martin is crap next to collings................crap.I have the same collings as this guy..............thing plays itself..

  • @mudpieblues Yeah right your Colllings is over rated crap.

  • @akbamg ....I agree with your assessment, the basic dreadnaught design is copied but that's really where any similarity between Martin and Collings ends....Collings far exceeds Martin in every measureable way. Collings does NOT copy Martin's bracing patterns and that's why Collings guitars just blow Martin out of the water for volume and tone. The fit and finish of Martin is like comparing a Volkswagon to a BMW, the VW is a good car but not in the same league as the BMW.

  • I own six of Collings creations, three of which were designed by myself. Martin has a saying; "The day you get it will be the worst sound you will ever getout of a Martin." That is what i feel about the Collings guitars.

  • My uncle has a better version but i love this one

  • woahh. that is one bangin riff. you gotta teach us that ;] pleeeeease?

  • nice sound!

  • what are you playing!? thats amazing you gotta teach me

  • Nice job! i aslo have this guitar it never lets me down. post another video

  • Cool. Love it. I am considering buying a d2h. I would like to hear more examples of the sound (although this example sounds wonderful). Maybe a little different style, and perhaps capo on third fret.....

  • Dude, I have the exact same guitar. Sooooo sweet. Best guitar I ever owned. Perfect balance between bass and treble.

  • Check out this Collings OM3.

  • Strum it!!

  • Wait a minute. Are you kidding, litaichi?

Great playing on a great guitar.
