@94brian This is the laser tube. It is filed with gasses that absorbing a lot of energy, so they are in plasma state. You can see the mirrors that reflect the beam to guide it to the head. The beam is unfocused until it reaches the head just above the target. In plasma cutting, a normal high pressure gas is fed in the cutting nozzle and it turns into plasma just between the nozzle and the cutting piece. The plasma cutter needs also the cutting piece to be grounded, similarly to welding machines.

@TheFrigginAwesome I can answer that. I read in Popular Science magazine that the "Hercules" Green laser runs at like 7.5 watts. It also claims to be the most powerful legal visible spectrum laser on the market. US $800+ if you're interested. Just look up Hercules Laser and you should find it.
