  • Great video, I've tried this version and I agree that it is pretty fluid but my favourite pirate NES fighter is Street Fighter Zero 2 97. Doing the moves is hard on any 8bit fighting game as it doesn't respond well to how you usually do the move. I don't know if you have played Street Fighter Zero on Game Boy Color but that is very fluid, I use that as my ideal for how to do fighting games on 8bit systems. :)

  • Wow, that brings back memories! I played this version 12 years ago. It was the first fighting game I played and the only one I've ever liked. I didn't know that it is a pirate game. Does anyone have a game ROM of this version? I looked everywhere and I found similar versions but not this one(Turbo Mortal Kombat III)

  • @papakotsosanimefreak Thanks! I assumed you've played it on real hardware, since you couldn't find the rom for it.. =) I haven't tried looking for it yet.. I was surprised at how playable this game is! Sometimes I do respect the pirates for figuring things out themselves! Another of my favorite is Street Fighter 3!! (^^)

  • I love getting weird pirate carts like this. I need to show some gameplay of a few sometime. I thought the MK was done ok for a hack. Not as good as the Master System version but better than the Gameboy one.

It's a shame that they didn't officially port it to the FC/NES because I think it could have been cool, like the TMNT Tournament Fighters.

  • I also have this Mortal Kombat on a mutlicart and it is really cool.

  • Wow...thats pretty amazing...so fluid.

man...just think...if someone would have just had an idea like that...we could have had some fighters on the NES...man.

  • Shit, I'm really impressed - I never would have thought a fighter on the NES could be so smooth!

  • I am also a proud owner of this game :D It's absolutely amazing :D it was my first fighting game :) Good to see you like it

  • woah i missed like three of your vids somehow. this looks pretty good for a pirate game.

  • Yeah.. I think it's a very decent pirate game..

  • This is a WICKED version, the one on my pirate cart is crap, graphics/sound suck and its very glitchy.

  • Thanks bro... I'd love to see your version too :)

  • Way old! Cooool. The older, the better, when it comes to games.

  • Can't agree more man....

  • looks ok. for what orginaly was a 16 bit game.

  • Agreed!

  • Looks great for 8-bit. I don't think Liu-Kang could do the bicycle kick in the first Mortal Kombat.

  • This is a very interesting pirate. Looks and sounds pretty good too. Nice video PhatPhunk :-D

    5 Stars as always!

  • Thanks ROB!! My first review and I'm honored to have your comments here.. ;)

  • yeah, it looks very good. For 8-bits, pretty impressive.

  • Indeed! I think the pirates did a good job with this one.

  • I was afraid that you were gonna make a vid of the Super Mortal Kombat II that I own! ;) But... it seems pretty much the same, except.. Mine looks WAY worse than this. And the music in mine.. well. Imagine a giant spider running back and forth over a keyboard!

Im impressed that the munks actually move in this version! In mine theyre static. It took me three plays before I realized what they were supposed to be! XD

How's Goro btw? In my version he's tiny! :S

  • Tanuki!! Haha.. Well luckily its a different version. I'd like to see yours too :p And you are right! GORO is tiny!!! Almost seem like the one who gets bullied in the game.. But man.. the way u describe the music.. HILARIOUS.. I gotta hear it man...

  • Looks pretty good.

    Nice review man.

  • Thanks man!

  • Cool pirate version.

  • Thanks man.. It sure is!
