I have a 98 chevy lumina and I do not have a rpm guage, do you thing there is an aftermarket rpm guage that I can buy for it?

Ok, what exactly IS overdrive? I know it's supposed to give you better gas mileage, but I do not exactly understand. And you are supposed to use the "D" with the dot in the middle right?

I wish our 96 lumina lasted that long. Ours also had the 3.1, and we only had ours for about 4 years, and it blew a intake gasket, then later on a head gasket. It only had 100,000 something miles on it.

@batterbee2000 gm updated the 3.1 in 1997 and threw it in the malibu and and a few other models ran alittle better took more stress but they to had small flaws

DAMN 221190.3 miles and it still drives like that holy shit. mine is a 99 and has 112000.0 miles on it this gives me good hopes lol. so do you beat on it like that all the time. have you ever had to replace any major parts. see i just bought one of these cars a few weeks ago i got it really really cheap and was gonna be just temporary but if they last as long as ive been seein ill keep it till she blows

@andrew0901280 She has 235532 now lol I treat her nice but every once in awhile I let her off her leash lol the 3100v6 are very good engines the only things i replaced on her was the tranny water pump and radiator and the tranny was shot when I got her

@TheHernandez well dang for over 200000 on it that aint bad at all. and ya its cool though when i bought the car i got a 98 the next day for three hundred buck only problem was the motor had a tick but all the body panels and intirior is perfect. and as for the transmission lucky for me my dad owns a trani shop so that aint a big deal for me lol

@TheHernandez i agree because i got a 98 and my friend's parents bought him a 2001 monte carlo ss and i he kept saying how much my car sucks ass. so i finally decided hey what the hell i might as well give him a reason to brag every day...i smoked him twice hahaha (i just have a specter intake filter and 181,579 miles on my car, he has a specter filter w/ all the chrome pipes and shit w/ 80,000 miles on his car) he had the pedal to the floor too. i love my lumina hahaha

I clipped the 0-60 on my computer and got 10.04 sec to 60...which really isnt bad for a 3100 v6 with 221k miles.

But really, those old 3.1s last forever, ESPECIALLY the older LHO in the 1st gen Luminas.

I used a digital timer and clocked you doing a 0-60 in the upper-10s to the lower-11s. That's pretty slow. My older '92 Lumina would have given you a run for your money.

Well, as long as the imports are getting their asses handed over to them, that's what matters. I can understand the mileage aspect of the whole thing though. I didn't pay attention to the odometer at first, so I never even considered mileage.
