More reasons: Saddam had known links to multiple terrorist organizations. Saddam's was the only country not to condemn the 9/11 attacks. Saddam's regime provided, at the very least, encouragement, funding and logistical support for groups intent on killing civilians and overthrowing legitimate governments. Givent he opportunity, would it have given these groups access to WMDs?

Even if he had nuclear weapons, he would not be deterred by the "mutually-assured destruction" doctrines of the Cold War: as a brutal dictator he showed no care for the Iraqi people and may have been prepared to take them all with him if his own position was threatened. It has been proven that the overthrowing of the previous Iraqi regime has removed and relieved terrible suffering of teh Iraqi people (by no means eliminating it, however).

UN sanctions exluded food and medicine, but Saddam had deliberately withheld these from his own people in order to score propaganda points. His attacks on the Kurds of northern Iraq, and the Marsh Arabs and Shia muslims of southern Iraq amounted to genocide that needed to be stopped.
