yes, you can go through the bottom if you're not careful - after you make enough things on the wheel you'll get the hang of it

I finally made a cup in my ceramics class last week but it took forever to center it and i accidentally made a huge scratch on it with my needle T_T it was also short. Wonderful job anyways.
