  • but teh best countertenor is andreas scholl, no one is as good as him.

  • it was just a rehearsal. it is good to hear this aria on the voice of a man.

  • many singers get booed u can only keep your career or quick and become a sing teacher

I think he's a good tenor i kind of like some of his repertoire, but these aria just dosn't work in a low voice, even if is the tenor version, the mezzo/countertenor (in italian) is always going to be better...anyway there r so many tenor roles

  • I totally agree. He's great in his repertoires, and Gluck clearly isn't one of them. And he also transposed it down to Eb; the tenor/haute contre version is in F. And he still sounds slightly flat! An excuse could be that the French Baroque pitch (A=392) is roughly a whole tone lower, but then the chorus is singing in the modern key just fine. This really made me appreciate even more the fabulous recording by Marc Minkowski with Richard Croft's superb Orphee.

  • If only Roberto and the conductor were of the same opinion on tempi. I miss the beautiful plangeancy of his early years and the dynamic contrasts. As ever, he remains the master of French diction. But that's about it. And this production totally misses the spirit of the original. But clearly, les freres Alagna could care less.

  • Roberto have been a triumph. The public made him an ovation.Only his brothers have been in trouble. Roberto is just a miracle here as usually in French singing.

  • I'm sorry, but Roberto got booed and laughed at too. And the only miracle is that he's still singing. Not sure if that's a good miracle, though.

  • Would you give up on things you love to do only because people boo at you?

  • Ogni riferimento all'omonima opera di Gluck è puramente casuale. Vero???

  • A Bologna li hanno riempiti di fischi, i fratelli Alagna.

  • E hanno fatto bene.

  • Ma tu ci hai mai provato a fare quello che fa Alagna? Credo di no!

  • Alagna is the genious of singing and acting art.

  • Riiiiight. Maybe on Planet Alagna.

  • He has a great voice. Shame on who boo at him!

  • He HAD a great voice, but this timbre is only a shadow of old Alagna. This is really too bad :(

  • I agree.

  • Well, first of all, he LOWERED the role because he can't sing it in the right key (all that Verdi has damaged his voice). Second of all, the booing is probably justified. This man is not a good colleague (and he's getting to be a half assed singer too), and he's grossly unprofessional in the way he conducts himself.

  • 'half-assed'... hehehe.

  • coloraturafan, what's infamous about this production?

  • Just more booing, and the overall feeling is that the Algana brothers are at it again.

  • And I understand some arias and ballets were cut.

  • Yes, It was cut heavily.

  • You might direct them to Leopold Simoneau's version (here on YouTube). It's without question the finest interpretation on disc or video

  • This such a powerful aria - the tale of Orphée et Eurydice will always resonate within humanities breast. although, must be frank - i never did like Alagna.
