But you finnish fans sometimes get too full of yourself.

He made one good world cup and suddenly he is the best in the world. Nah, he is not even close.

Russians got better players, Sweden do and Canada too.

@stormvind Sorry I was not too clear with my comment. I meant to say "Find a player that is as good as Granlund is and about the same age". Sure, Bäckström, Sedin Twins, and Zetterberg are better but they have had more time to improve on their game in the NHL. Grandlund will be a hell of a lot better when he plays against more competitive players. So yah.. :)

@MegaJouhou Robin Figren, Linus Omark, Robert Nilsson, Mattias Tedenby... those are just a few who's either breaking through or has broken through with the same hands and body size as Granlund. Neither of them will ever be on par with the likes of the Sedins, Zetterberg, Lidström, Franzen etc etc etc... simply because of the fact that they are too small.

Have you ever even heard of Robin Figren? No? Do a quick search on YT and watch him score a Zorro.

Robert Nilsson? Debuted at 16...

About the size. The guy is still a kid. Most likely wont get any taller, but bigger otherwise, for sure.

I've been wondering the same thing anyhow. For example Koivu and Forsberg were kinda the same as players, yet Forsberg could easily dominate about anyone with the sheer size alone. I hardly remember any extremely skilled Finnish players that were big as well.

@kosseh It's a difference in hockey schools. Finnish hockey seems to reward speed, power and technique where in swedish hockey you need mental aspects like tactical cool and leadership qualities. Finnish players are superior technicians but swedes are masters in making the right decisions. Lidström for instance is far from the best defender skillwise, but he makes the right decision every single time. Same goes for Forsberg. He's not extremely technical - he's just being very, very clever.

@skruven123 Forsberg didn't create the move. It had been performed by at least four Russian players in the NHL, where Forsberg probably got the inspiration from. The deke had been all but forgotten, when Jussi Jokinen did it against Tim Thomas. That's why it's called "the Jokinen deke".

But that move was done before 1990, in year 1989 Kenta nilsson used that move against team USA. Then in 1994 Forsburg pattened it. So which came first? 1989 OR 1990. If you know your numbers then you pick Kenta Nilsson and its on youtube too.

@Superfui Let's get real here. I saw this deke performed as a child in Canada in the 1970's by older kids. It's probably been around since forever. I can speculate as to why the pros didn't use it as it seems the pros didn't use a lot of moves because they were sticking with the traditional conservative moves that boring defense minded coaches pound into their brains.
