  • would i be able to go down to river , and get clay, would that work , or just fall apart if i fired it ?

  • It might work if it was clay & not just clay like soil. Try it ! SL

  • And how did the pieces do at auction? Is there a site for the Leach Restoration Project?

  • I don't think it has happened yet ?

Check out 'leach pottery restoration projest '

    on google - might help

  • no.1 tip -dont slosh it around so much - I know as beginners we do use more than we really need.

As to reclaim - a large bucket, keep the clay clean, drain off water as it settles out, scoop out the slurry & place on absorbent plaster bats or place somewhere on boards to dry, turn clay periodically, dont allow it to become crusty, smooth over with wet hands 'nobbly' bits, wedge clay after drying & store (longer best)

    regards

  • My first attempt at throwing resulted in a vat of slip, lol. Jeremy mentioned he is using reclaimed clay, and since I have a feeling I will be reclaiming ALL the clay I use this month. Please provide tips on how to reclaim "properly".

p.s. Thanks so much for all the insight Simon.

  • Very good...I love hearing about how things came about!
