im kinda young and have no blacksmiths near were i live but love medival things and kinda make daggers out of broom handles =/ any ideas on how i could make dif things?
That's what everyone says. There are metal workers EVERYWHERE, there'll be one near you, I'll bet. Not all are on the same par as Eric, but they exist.
Look up the SCA, most people in that group make their own armour.
Where do you live? There are blacksmiths almost anywhere I would think, at least within an hour or two. If you want to make armor join a medieval reenactment group near you, the most popular group is called the SCA Society for Creative Anachronism, there are people their who know the craft. Just follow your passion and don't give up, if you start young and do it all the way you will be a master by the time your middle aged.
your a dying breed my friend, find an amprentice and raise him in your ways!
this art should not be lost through the ages, but mastered by more brilliant artists such as yourself! I myself shall be taking this up as a hobby and hopefully in due time make magnificent armour such as yours!
while i admit that with the right tools u can do this but this is not a normal man can do without any knowledge in determining the size and measurement of the armor plates...it's a skill...and it needs time to master...
I am quite envious of you SgtViktor. Pretty much all i want in life is a nice place to live, away from other people, with trees and snow, a nice shop with some space where I can forge with my free time. Apparently that is too much to ask in California.
Hey Salut!
well...i have very minimal tools...i have a log that comes up to about waste height and i sit in a chair and have a custom made dishing stump...i have to use shears to cut it also...it is so hard to make stuff. I was wondering if you could maybe make a tutorial on any kind of helm that i could make with out welding...i can do anything else though.
wery please make video to show how you made your hammer. PLZ

A seamstress has those same skills. You can get them pretty quickly if you find a teacher.

is that black crusty stuff coming off the peice carbon cooked out of the metal?
kommanderlum 4 years ago
It's called fire scale, it probably has some carbon in it, just peels off the metal when you heat it. That's all i know.
