There are more than 2 teams that deserve one of the two spots in the national championship game every year. USC and Florida had no common opponents, so how would you know who is better? Texas beat Oklahoma straight up, and yet the sooners got to play in the BCS title game.

When USC killed Auburn in 03 AT Auburn 23-0, Auburn was ranked 9th while SC was ranked 8th. Not to mention what SC did to a good Nebraska team back to back years.

USC smashed Oklahoma in the Orange Bowl. They smashed Auburn last time they played. Arkansas was smashed by over 40 points both times away and at home. LSU was the only real challenge for USC.

What kind of amateur argument is that? None of those three teams played any Pac10 teams last year. Every conference beats the hell out of each other week in and week out. Again, you aren't really proving anything except that the SEC has a reputation. The only reason they had an opportunity for a national title is because of their reputation. Florida did not deserve to go to the title game, but that's just the way it was this year. Hopefully they'll put in a playoff and shut some people up.

As far as the title game - yes I do think USC would've been capable of holding OU to 14 points. Why? Maybe because their opponents averaged 7 points per game against them, and they played in a higher scoring conference, and 3 BCS non-conference opponents. I'm surprised you'd even doubt USC's defense....con't.

Yeah, Arkansas and Auburn on extremely down years is sooo impressive, The difference in Florida and USC is toughness, to go through the SEC you have to endure, to go through the PAC-1... you really don't have to do anything, those games are little more than practices till your bowl game. USC smashed Oklahoma in the Orange Bowl. They smashed Auburn last time they played. Arkansas was smashed by over 40 points both times away and at home. LSU was the only real challenge for USC.

Teams like the Citadel, Clemson (they were like the SEC teams...top 10 preseason, barely bowl eligible by the end), Tulane, Western Kentucky, Arkansas State, Memphis, Samford, Louisiana-Monroe, North Texas, Troy, Appalachian State, Tennessee-Martin, Louisiana Tech, Southeastern Louisiana, Middle Tennessee State.
Yep. All the best teams are right there in the south. All of those were on an SEC team's non conference slate this season.
