haha 6 hour ride : p that's not even 100k there . you go SO slow there ! took us 7 hours to drive from ho chi ming to ha phong . you go like fucking 30 km and you don't go straight . you drive in a zig zag which takes forever
"...a nice steaming hot bowl of Pho: beef broth, wheat noodles, cilantro, bean sprouts, chopped red chilies and a squeeze of lemon... I'm rethinking my morning captain crunch ritual."
This video is making me miss the Mekong Delta. I have a house in Chau Doc only about 4 hours from Can Tho but I really loved the foot. It has my favorite foods in all of Vietnam. I am going to have to take some time off to go back to what I call "Home"
anthony must be a real gr8 chef and must have an amazing reputation
but when he says yum, and amazing to foods like this duck.....which has no herbs, sauce, salt, or taste ........lets not forget with blood and guts filled with bird poo
it frightens me to think ....just how good is his taste pallate????? and just how good is he?
Thanks for posting! By the way, does anyone know the episode where they cook a pig, roasted over an open flame and they keep adding coconut milk to it while turning it for hours. And when they eat it it's really crispy. I'm guessing its one of the asia episode but I'm not sure.
would you happen to have this episode: "Cobra Heart-Food That Makes You Manly." If you post it you will be my hero for the week, (I know a lot of people like this episode too.) Thanks.
I am married to a Vietnamese.. Now I will demand we go there!

I'd love to visit Vietnam again. Wonderfully place. I had vermicelli sausage (Bun Cha) in Hai Phong. Oh man...great memories.

the noodles they use for pho is so different from what i've had in vietnamese restaurants.
inoout 2 years ago
You are right...the noodle in this video is made from wheat and not from rice like the traditional pho. That is why it is yellow and not white.

what regional type of pho is that? i've never seen it with yellow wheat noodles before.
unagiyumm0 2 years ago
That was just a regular Teochew style noodle bowl. Bourdain didn't know that and thought it was just another type of Pho.
tdn12a3 2 years ago
It's not Pho, it's Mi` aka egg noodle with chicken broth.
