I am very lucky in that this was the very first big concert I saw! I didn't have enough taste or knowledge at that point to have known how good it would be.
I was 13 and my brother 10 or 11 - my mom dropped us off (thanks mom!). We were so young that the concert people took us to the very front of the line! Alas, we were too shy to go right up front, but it was still awesome.
Yes Talking Heads has a lot of very good songs but this one has so much energy to it, it was on the radio today. If you want to have some fun get the cd the live version that is and listen to this while u drive u will have a great time.
I love David Byrne and completely respect him. I think he has done some amazing things since leaving the Talking Heads, and completely understand why he doesn't want to reunite.
That being said... Come On David. We need new Talking Heads. Just one new song and a tour.... please......
i started with 77, and just went in chronological order...i downloaded every studio album and listened to ALL OF THEM in one day, ALL THE WAY THROUGH...ive literally never done that with any other band. ever. not even close
saw the 'remain in light' tour at red rocks, when they debuted 'swamp' from the upcoming 'speaking in tongues'. the song didn't even have a name when they played it! what an amazing show! total dance fest that left us all drained.....that was the band's best time from 'fear of music' - 'remain in light' - 'speaking in tongues'
The band was really founded by Chris Frantz and Tina weymouth, who are both on stage... with Jerry Harrison who joined later. David joined up with those two at college but it's so obvious that the Heads wouldn't even register on the popular music radar without David... instead they are an extremely large splash. Haven't you seen this film? you need to see it and research it too :)
- Film is very visual (TH's were graphic artists, it's fitting) in camera angles and movement. The viewer is invited to move about the stage and see all the visual arts.
- How it all builds from single guitar to the entire spectacle keeps the viewer (TH fan or not!) interested in what will happen next.
Really, it's a concert but the viewer is involved in all effects. Quite original, really.
omg..i've become a teenager again!!! nothing like going back nearly 30 years to make you feel hideously old, lol. Completely timeless music, cracking.
woot woot!...how good is the audio for this track!! simply amazing, its damn near 25 years old..getcha self a pair of sennheiser earphones & enjoy....
Love it. My favorite clip from the movie. Live version rocks. I saw this tour in Nashville at Municipal Auditorium and got the soundtrack. It's my favorite live album by far. Just try to not dance to this....and Naive Melody.
I am not sure why you think it is lame? Stop Making Sense Directed by Jonathan Demme is still regarded as the most creative concert films ever made even though it never shows the audience or a single close up guitar solo.
25 years later people still remember the film for the big suit and much more. David Byrne still preforms today as well as he did back then.
Do you think 25 years from now anyone will even know who hottie Nick Jonas is? Really? Think about it. Jonas will be a lame old fart!
That is true. They are shown for a few seconds though. They also show them in the extra clips, I think big business and cities. The main point is not the audience though as most concert films seem to be about. It is not about the instruments either hence Byrne having most of them painted black.
Stop Making Sense is one of the best concert movies from a directorial standpoint. David Byrne planned out everything, from the band coming out piece by piece, to how he would move around the stage, check get the DVD and watch it, there are several pages from the planning on the extras, with drawings showing exactly how it would happen...awesome David Byrne was... genius is stretching it, but a very good thinker
Stop Making Sence is the best concert film I have ever seem. Better than Pink Floyd,s "Live at Pompay" and Led Zeppelin's "The Song Remains the Same".
it's funny im so against technology and key boards but the talking heads are awesome...i think its because theyre one of the few people who push technology to the limits. like this tune that shits nuts
Agree, but I got the next best: The european premiere of the movie.

BTW: My brother fuckin' lost the DVD, so I dl it....
Danteklfg ,you are right, it,s called a ZOOT suit and has a history of it,s own. I told you I would google it, well, just type ZOOT Suit and you got pages from wikipedia and others.qoute "also spelled Zuit-Suit suit with a long coat with wide padded shoulders" It was worn in the 30,s 40,s , there,s even been a riat over in it that time ;)

Tina is playing bass on a keyboard on this track, you can see her around 3.30 (ish) - although she really is a great bass player too, and for her to be able to switch to keyboard, well, that's great as well!
