I think the biggest reason the government won't legalize it is simply because they would have to answer to all the people who have been locked up for years of their life. Like how could you say,"oh by the way Jimmy, weed's legal now so you can leave jail.". Plus when you consider alcohol can effect up to 98% of brain function while marijuana can effect up to 46% of the brain, you should be happy they aren't drinking.
