A lot of credit goes to Jackie Opel who made a wothwhile contribution to the developement of jamaican music, as a non jamaican, he was there from the begining.
listen carefully to the vocal... this is not jackie opel. the original 45 is credited to the enchanters and the melody makers on the ja doctor bird label. Dont know for sure who is on lead , but if u really know jackie listen to the vocal over and over and u will hear its not jackie opel. It sounds more like Phillip james of the blues busters on lead than it does jackie opel.
@dnislobe I love Jackie Opel and he is proberbly the greatest singer ever to record original ska music.I have had this tune for the last 20 years and iam telling u it aint Jackie Opel. On my original copy it says Melody enchanters not Jackie Opel. If u know Jackie Opel you should know this is not him.
Probably the hottest and biggest ska tune I ever heard in my ####### life!!! great man! I didn't realise it was a cover of Sam Cook song, so strong it was!!! Too young to die, that's true...
Thank you for posting, I will now try to find this record
