Time: 1:28 to 2:09 - those six trailers - they are used to carry Iron Ore - i know cause i did a lot of contracting towing exactly the same rig with my Kenworth T-908 prime mover - the whole rig weighs in at 200 tonne... they don't get any bigger than that in Australia and can be a real bitch to drive - specially when turning off it needs the whole road - total length is 70 metres (i think - but i never got round to measuring them - was bad enough towing them)

In the states all our iron ore mines are near the great lakes & go direct to a ship so we don't get to use road trains much. damn pity.

We do have winter here but we don't need to change our tyres as the tyres we have are quite often rated M&S (mud and snow) anyway! Where the 3B is found, it never, ever gets below 10 degrees overnight and above 25 in the day hours!

The Western Star side tipping road-train in this vid is called the 3B or, as it is affectionately known, "The Centipede". It has 110 tyres on 28 axles, a 550hp Caterpillar engine and 18 speed Roadranger gearbox... they have built two of them!
