  • brilliant.

  • Great actor!

  • Gran cómico y gran artista,me encanta su expresividad!!!

  • OMG this is great! This was one of Buster's favorite films. The 'blank pan' as he called it, is on full display here. Love the little kick to his opponent. Isn't he gorgeous here, and so wonderfully clueless? Love ya, Buster. I hope you're jumping over everything in heaven. And 'mascotofageneration', you're never too young to like this- I discovered Buster when I was in college and have LOVED him ever since. Thanks for posting!!

  • @suemai1 I discovered Buster Keaton this year on TCM one late night, laughed my ass off, wondered how back then he did some of his film tricks, but just enjoyed the simple, silly skits he did. God bless, him. so sad he had such bad luck in Hollywood after his success in silent films. he deserved better!

  • My dad moaned at me for liking this apparently im too young

  • He was so freaking funny and could move like a cat. And he was handsome I am so totally in love with him!

  • 2:30

    Take that

  • gawd i love him . too bad no else i know does . x(

  • I love you Buster! Wherever you are you are and were the greatest!

  • many great men raised on buster keaton film

  • I WAS LITERALLY IN HYSTERICS FOR THE WHOLE FIVE MINUTES!!!!

I WANT TO MARRY HIM LOVE IT!

  • wrestler mic foley stole that hangmans rope stunt from him..did it in germany vs. vader but the ropes were to tight and lost half his ear!!!

  • @srgreeneyed: um no disrespect and all but how can you be blind and be able to read what that person wrote?. Don't tell me your blind but you could only see words... Idk if your blind or not.. Hopefully not but dude c'mon..

  • anything with buster keaton is like a bugs bunny cartoon brought to life

  • Increíble Keaton. Un verdadero Maestro del humor. A las personas a las que no les gusta este vídeo es porque ya están medio muertas o algo por el estilo.

  • The Great Stone Face!

  • Set to 240p for full enjoyment.

  • maravilhoso

  • a brilliant silent comedian, and so underated next to Chaplin

  • Buster Keaton had one hell of a high jump.

  • pUBLIC dOMAIN

  • Ja,bei s/w Stummfilmen gab es ja auch nicht dieses manchmal dumme Gequatsche, man konnte sich eben auf das Wesentliche konzentrieren-und ehrlich(!) lachen.

  • Buster Keaton doesn't look funny at all. He doesn't have the same face expression as Charlie Chaplin.

  • @sdjesshk ... You do realize he has NO facial expression. That's sort of the point and the beauty. He is the ultimate straight man: He does ridiculously amazing stunts/physical comedy with the most stoic of expressions. The man was suffused with lithesome grace, I've never seen anyone entangle themselves in rope with more languid finesse.

Don't get me wrong, I love Chaplin too, but Keaton deserves his dues.

  • @bigbonedandfey Ooo,wordsmith! :D

  • Charlie chaplin is definitely the best comic actor of all time. I love the boxing scene from Charlie Chaplins "CITY LIGHT". Go see it and you will agree with me!!!

  • Lol

  • Charlie Chaplin ist eigentlich genauso lustig wie Buster Keaton

nur Charlies Filme sind nicht nur Lustig sondern in anderen Parts auch sehr traurig

  • Buster Keaton is the Jackie Chan of comedy.

  • I want legs like his. Just look at them. I feel kinda jealous now.

  • Buster Kaeton ist um Längen besser!!! ,als Charlie Chaplin.

    Man kann richtig ablachen...lol

  • Does anyone know the name of the movie where his lover dies?

  • My grandmother worked with him.

  • 3 people suck

  • @htariq17

You don't deserve 20 thumbs up asshole fuckhead..

  • There's nothing to get dipshit. It's broad physical schtick. You could be illiterate and laugh at this

  • @twinsrule1987 Exactly. Unlike the comedy flicks nowadays, being the rude and promptly insulting farces that they are, these silent films never found fault with the audience. When you watch this you don't feel rated or attacked in any twisted ways, no matter who you are. You can just enjoy and have a laugh.

  • Great clip, the fidgeting on 2:21 and the slap on 2:31 cracked me up!

Buster was the best comedic actor of his time..At least in my opinion.

  • its a wonderfull men

  • He was amazing and I don't even care if he's not famous like Chaplin, for me he's always been the best.

He was a real gymnast, did someone notice his arms? wow, he was in a great shape.

  • OMG MrCrowlad. Cool! :)

  • this is amazing, Im Buster Keaton's descendant :D

  • LOL Hilarious!

  • hahah when he gets his head caught in the ropes :') keaton is amazing

  • My a-hole step dad used to call me Buster Keaton. I guess because I was a class clown and did crazy shit as a kid. But now I take it as a compliment.

  • Omg...this has to be one of my favorites...

  • @FlippinBooks: Like they say, good things come in small packages. (And no, I don't mean that in a dirty way, ha ha ha ha.)

  • the year of this film is 1926, if anyone wants to know. And yet still funnier that 90% of today's comedy films.

  • @Slypaperclips

I'd argue that it's funnier than 90% of the comedies at the time.

  • Exelente!!!

  • @FlippinBooks: Don't you just want to put him in your pocket and carry him around with you? (Geez, I make the poor guy sound like a teacup poodle lol.)

  • @MissGoldenDreams13 I do, I really do. (And give Buster a little credit. He's WAY cuter than any poodle. lol)

  • The 3 who clicked dislike apparently need to hear fart jokes in order to laugh.

  • HA!! 2:30 cracked me up. That was a cheap shot, Buster. xD

Still, he's just so darned cute. And travel-sized for your convenience!

  • @FlippinBooks

Watching this I literally have tears in my eyes! I agree...so funny and adorable at the same time! : P

  • im only 12 but any one can enjoy silent movies that have proper actors in them that can actually act unlike people now

  • im only 12 but hell anyone can evenjoy silent movies with people who can do there own stunts witch people would defenatily think twice about doing now

  • amazing!!! he is pure genius he is even better than charlie chalpin!!! i love silent movies :)

  • @KRASFA: You're very lucky :) Do you happen to be related to Buster?

  • I'm happy to share the name of Keaton :D

  • But, no relation.

  • i watch him cause i luv him and my speakers are not working!!

  • Three people are blind and angry that we are taunting them with silent comedy.

  • @MrTwiky I'm blind and I don't quite appreciate your comment, sir.

  • buster is so tiny and adorable

i just wanna take him home with me =O in mah pocket

  • amazing Keaton as always

  • Where is this from?

  • xD! His body-language is just too darn amazing!

  • Watching this shows you where Danny Kaye probably got some inspiration for "The Kid From Brooklyn" about 20 years later . . .

  • THis must've hurt like mad crazy.

  • whew!! this is gso great..hoping that this clip can help out on our play..hahahahaha...this clip is just at the same level with charlie chaplin..it's so great.. :D

  • if you like to see the history of movies watch *BIRTH OF CINEMA* in youtube and enjoy

  • I love it, this is really funny. I got tears in my eyes... from laughing.

  • This is sooo funny!!!!

  • It's almost amazing how scrawny and tiny he makes himself appear here, yet if you really look at him especially at 4:35, you see how athletic and toned this actor was. His commitment to his art gave him a good body.

  • @shinybieber What's lame about it exactly?

  • Shit! I'm still laughing!

  • lols @ 1:35 he's all "i didn't sign up for this"

  • oh god this man makes tears in my eyes...

  • it's funny..........my music teacher itroduced this show to the whole class but i was the only one to ask for the title......(so sad).....=(

  • In this is is taking some real punches if you watch..My father use to watch this stuff and just sit there with a smile on his face as I would step out of the house with no intrest at all...oh how I wish my father was still here so I could sit next to him and we could enjoy this together..25 years later I am also wishing that I had pursued acting, if only in dramatic plays....instead I am a dumptruck driver..

  • so beautifull...! thanks for posting

  • I just don't understand, why is Buster Keaton not so famous like Charlie Chaplin?

  • @BrightGreenDream I think the same thing everytime I watch anything featuring Buster, to me he's the American equivalent of Chaplin in terms of comedy and being director and producer of his films.. I guess Charlie just knew how to get further ahead.

  • @GoneWithTheSinners

    yes, probably you are right.

  • @BrightGreenDream My question exactly!

  • @BrightGreenDream: I seriously feel that Buster Keaton is waay better then Charlie Chaplin.. I have watched some of Charlie Chaplin's work, and it just doesn't seem too live up to Buster Keaton's work? And I only heard about Buster Keaton when we watched one of his films in Drama, for our clowning assessment. I don't see how it is fair O=

  • @BrightGreenDream cause our history teachers always show us modern times. many people haven't seen any other movie of chaplin except for modern times

  • Comment removed

  • @BrightGreenDream the best songs are always in the B-sides.

  • @BrightGreenDream compare this whit charlie chaplin boxing

  • @BrightGreenDream

    He never laughed

  • @DiGerry

    hah)) most likely)

  • @BrightGreenDream I am a devoted Charlie Chaplin fan and although I've heard of Buster Keaton I've never really taken the time to see any of his work. Maybe i was afraid that he was going to be too much like Chaplin. But I L-M-A-O through this entire clip, Buster Keaton is hilarious, I need to see more.MOAR.

  • @BrightGreenDream It's because Chaplin had a lot of power and artistic freedom in the movie industry. He basically could do whatever he wanted whenever he wanted. It was the dream of every filmmaker. No one had it. Keaton went through a lot of pain and depression because of the limitations imposed to him by the industry. Today cinema is becoming cheap and accessible. Anyone can make movies, put them on festivals and on YouTube and have a chance to be famous. I think that's great for cinema.

  • @BrightGreenDream No wonder. This for example just doesn't compare even a little bit to Chaplin's boxing in city lights. Chaplin's is a masterpiece, Keaton's is boring.

  • @nakmax

No, how can you say that? His tricks are unique, he invented many things. For example, when he jumps on the judges' hands - this scene you can see in many following cartoons and comedies today.

  • @BrightGreenDream Yes, but that doesn't make me laugh. I don't enjoy it. He just does some good stunts, very good stunts indeed. But it gives me the feeling that he does movies just to do his stunts. He doesn't have the poetic touch and flow that Chaplin's movies have.

  • @nakmax

    everybody have their's own features

  • @nakmax I like Chaplin, but I prefer Keaton and Lloyd, and Keaton over Lloyd at that. I think this is one of those discussions where reasonable people can disagree. I find a good deal of poetry in The General, for example, and, as far as the stunts go, I like seeing the extreme to which Keaton takes the human body. And what is the great stone face if not poetic? I don't deny Chaplin's skill, but Keaton had a much more anarchic sense of comedy, which I prefer.

  • @BrightGreenDream In my country Buster Keaton's movies are displayed on every new tram :)

  • @BrightGreenDream It is Famous as Chaplin

  • @pagliaccinodlemantra

this is good, because I learnt of him through the YouTube. In my country he is not so famous

  • @BrightGreenDream Thats great, YouTube help us with our problems ;D

  • @BrightGreenDream - I guess because Chaplin came first and paved the way for Keaton and others. But I think that more people these days (like me) prefer watching Keaton over Chaplin, because Chaplin can get a bit too maudlin for present-day tastes, while Keaton is rarely (maybe never) maudlin.

  • @WSenator1

I think the same. I prefer movies with Buster Keaton, because I don't like Chaplin's maudlin

  • @WSenator1

You're right. Just when Keaton tends toward sentimentality he throws in a curveball like in the film "College" when he ends marrying the girl then there are scenes of them having children, then they appear as cranky old people and then the final tombstones scene. He could be pretty dark as times which I really liked about him. Although "The Cameraman" is pretty sweet for a Keaton film but some of that may have been MGM's idea and not totally Buster's.

  • @Busterseyes - Agreed about your points. I saw the ending to "College" on TV when I was a boy, and even then I was expecting some sentimental ending. When I saw THAT ending, though, my mouth dropped way open - and I was laughing as well. After my experiences, I still laugh at it, but I recognize the truth behind it. Like you, I appreciate Keaton's honesty. Yeah, that was MGMs doing, not Buster's, for The "Cameraman" By then artisitic control over his films had been taken out of his hands.

  • @WSenator1 Not quite...the story for "The Cameraman" was his idea. MGM was temporarily smart enough to allow him to edit their script and film it back in Los Angeles (after he begged them enough). It was after this film that they inexplicably denied him any further creative control...fortunately, if "The Cameraman" was the final Keaton film of sorts, then what a heck of a great finale it was. Rest assured that you are watching Keaton, not MGM.

  • @eMuse5 - I Stand Corrected. Thanks, and have a good day.

  • @BrightGreenDream The Tramp.

  • @bets36 haha all his fault that he did not invent his nickname

  • : )

  • @BrightGreenDream ha! that's what they debate in the film, "the dreamers"

  • GOOD LORD, that was funny. I love silent comedies: they avoid the pitfalls of their modern counterparts by having NO DIALOGUE, for one...and ferociously talented actors, for another.

  • lol

  • That is quite possibly one of the cutest things I've ver seen. :P

  • woot! +5'd

  • Is this th whole movie?

Cuz when he got on the table and the man started massaging him,I was kinda looking forward to more gags :|

  • No, it's just a little clip! :) The film is called Battling Butler and should be available on DVD.

  • Hah,thanks.

I had no idea this was a clip from a longer movie.(and I call myself a fan.)

  • el boxeador de buster !! un genio no pude cordinar dos acciones juntas jajajaja
