you make it sound so surprising wow a tooth about to get drilled. I had 16 of my teeth drilled, basically all my tooth on top and on the bottom. First 2 drills were frightening, but then the rest were like a rollercoaster ride. Good thing I got white fillings so it looks like part of the tooth.

Get a second opinion. That's about the age when dentists started using my teeth as an ATM. Ask for a copy of your x ray and ask another dentist to do a visual exam. Don't get a second x-ray, Show the second dentist your x-ray from the first dentist. If they both agree, then go to a third dentist and to the same. If you have no pain stay away. Dentists destroy more healthy tooth tissue which leads to more expensive and painful procedures until they have to extract.

i have to admit, i rarely brushed my teeth but all xrays from the dentist confirmed that my teeth were at 100% health, much to the annoyance of my parent's.

Now i'm a father and am trying to set an example for my child by brushing often, only to discover that now i'm brushing my teeth are falling apart, i too am going through a major toothache due to a cavity and am hoping to get an appointment soon.

@darkangelhurt thats a procedure, where they remove the diseased part of the tooth and I think they do it by detatching it from the nerves. Dont quote me on that though. All I know is that it's really painful and can be avoided by getting a filling!! Please see your denist. They can give you a better solution. But dont leave your cavity, esp. if it hurts!!

@darkangelhurt I'm not a dentist or an orthodontist; so I cant say for sure. But as someone who has had quite a lot of dental work done, dentists have some really good tools that they use to do the fillings, so it shouldnt get in the way of the retainer. You should point out any other cavities that you might have. Tell them all of your concerns; they'll be able to help!! :) x

We floss before EACH brushing and use only all natural toothpastes that we make at home. We have no dental problems at all. In fact, the Miss has been told that she has a text book mouth by a dentist. See our video regarding how we do the toothpaste. Thanks!

Even if you brush teeth appropriately,you can of course have cavities.I don't worry too much about it,brush it twice daily,I use dental floss once a day,I use mouth wash,and that is all I do for my teeth and gum.If it turns out I have a cavity,I have it filled,and that's all,I get an anaesthetic jab,and that is all.I used to ask the same question,whyyy do I have a cavity,I do my best to avoid it,but now I don't care if I have one.Dentist solves my problem and it is all....

I'm almost 20 and just got my first cavity ever and I've been putting it off for a few months to get it filled which was really stupid of me .. It's probably bigger now lol, how many needles do they put in your mouth and do you know if they can do it without needles? I fuckin hate the dentist I don't know why, thats the one thing I'm really uncomfortable with. I'm a boxer who gets jabbed in the face alot yet I'm scared of a little needle.

ok, first they give you a shot. to numb the area they are going to work. after that, they go to town with the drill. it does hurt, but at times u can sort of feel it, but not to the point where ur going to die.

then they fill it with a composite. mine was white, so it doesnt even look like i ever had a cavity.

oh and my cavitys were big, u can see them in the mirror. all fixed up now.
