I had a great friend that I wanted to be with from the first day I met her when we did finally get together I had lost my son in a car wreck and found that I could not share my grief with her even though she tried this song reminds me of her every time I hear it.
I hear ya Bebenic....We have all met with the bitterness of unrequited love, and yet , its always personal, unique. I suppose that can be a source of strength...that we suffer alone in terms of meeting the experience, and yet; we are not alone. Not sure If I'm making any sense.
I think he was so moved by the beauty of that song and LInda's delivery ....it just shattered him......hey, each of us has a memory of one for whom we have "done everything I know, to try and make you mine".
i did everything for someone, but it didn't work. i am still sad about it. linda's voice is pure and touching. and, the sentiment will resound as long as people love; especially if it is unrequited.
bebenic..ME TOO..THE FOLLOW UP of TOTAL LONILESS & QUIET... REALLY sucks and HURTS to my inner core...IM an oldster that really has given up..guess its called ***KARMA***..kinda..what goes around...etc!...
when i was a 18, i fell in love with a man 4 years older. i thought it was magic. but, he was in love with another guy. when he came back, it was not the same. i lament that loss. i still love him, but i could never make it work again. when something pure is broken, one can never put it back.
after that experience, i've been more guarded in my approach. i met another man and we lived together for 9 years. but, it was with a certain degree of detatchment. one never gats over the first heartbreak. but, we soldier on.
but how can you be tire or get tire , just for being there must of being a great experience just to listen to the sweet voice of linda singing to me ?
I LOVE this song..her voice is so pretty, the melody and sweet, the instrumental...well, not as nice as the radioi version but they were doing it without studio engineering, so...even so, decent.
Great audio! Linda progressed from her sad state of Long, Long Time to "When Will I Be Loved", and finally achieved the "You're No Good" conciousness... All great songs, but Long, Long TIme is hauntingly beautiful. This version has all three verses! :-) The one they played on the radio only had the first two...
The end of an intense day. Winding down a mellow night with some Glenlivet Scotch. Already listened to Delores O'Riordan, Natalie Merchant, , Natalie Imbruglia, Sade, Roseanne Cash. Finishing out with Ms. Ronstadt and this beautiful song. Sometimes it's just better to be alone with the feelings and thoughts these artists bring to mind
I can't tell. looks like a Gibson with an old school soundhole pickup. But his fingerings are correct for the voicings that you hear (I've played guitar, partly pro, for 45 years).
wow thanks for posting. that's the first time i've really listened to Linda Ronstadt. absolutely captivating. beautiful voice, arrangement-everything! it brought tears to my eyes.
The guy at 4:22 stage right ia crying his eyes out, Can't blame him. That is the gosh-darn lonliest song in the world.

Actually, I Don't think Bobby's guitar is miked and I think someone is really playing the guitar offstage. Look closely and see if you agree.
earnhardtfan11050 3 years ago 4
could be, but Bobby was known to be able to play at least 6 instruments.
NunyaDammeBiznis 2 years ago 6
even if he played, there is a second guitar. as you can hear at the beginning, he was only playing the intro melody.
soapywater 2 years ago 4
It looks like he is playing the improved solo part of the intro, while someone plays the chords. After the intro, we really don't see him.
