  • End of Disc 1

  • thumbs up for ingame writing mistake at 3:21

  • Remember that part like if it was yesterday... Yelling "nooooooooooooooooooooooo" at my television..

  • ok, excuse me for ruining the moment, but this is something i can't help but point out. did anyone else notice how cloud was standing in the water when he put her down as if it was shallow, then when it cuts to her sinking he isn't there anymore and the water is suddenly extremely deep?

  • @Jeshenderson1 He's swimming straight up like a boss.

  • The greatest game of all time!

And i'm not even a Final Fantasy fan (only played VII & VIII, which i also loved :P)

  • Wow.... I remember this part... I just shrugged my shoulders and said "Come on Sephie that was my healer you jerk." Oh well..... Now watch as FFVII fanboys swoop down and troll me!

  • the best game ever.

  • Sephiroth: The biggest cock-blocker in gaming history

  • i remember cry at this bit all hard work of training her up....would would have thought she was going to die

  • Sephiroth is such a cunt :P

    Fuck you asshole!

  • The most shocking video game moment of all time...

"Quite possibly the greatest game ever made."

  • whyd cloud try to kill her and stop and why didnt she talk at all? *havent played this game)

  • @SacredShadowWolf I recommend playing it, instead of reading the below:

Cloud was injected with JENOVA cells by Hojo, so Sephiroth can control him and make him do his bidding. I don't know why she doesn't say anything, but she just smiled at Cloud because he came for her.

  • @SacredShadowWolf cloud wasnt trying or even trying to kill her cuz he will never kill her. this game was made from 1997 and of course theres no voice.. this was released in PS1 and the system wasnt even high tech at that time

  • The music when the blue thing is bouncing?

  • @FranticFatality aeris' theme

  • This is my all time favorite video game ever created. But This scene doesn't make me cry.

  • @DarkTrainerzx "Then you dont have a soul" acording to Mallablnochanchlla and every FF7 Fan

  • @Emixsal No he said if you hate the game, nothing to do with crying...

  • @Emixsal Well they're just crazy Lol. I love this game so much, I'm not trying to say that its bad or anything, the game is very touching and the music in the background goes so well! I love this game, perfect flawless game 10/10. Although it's mini games were stupid lol. But I'm just saying i never cried. It was sad, but i didn't cry.

  • This is the best Final Fantasy game ever!

  • I actually watched this specific video before I ever started the game (don't ask why), and then, when I went into the final stage of the temple where you could see the altar but you weren't on it? Remember that spot? I got there and the music started to play, and I knew what was coming all of a sudden. I am a guy, I am not gay, I am not emo, but I swear once I realized what was coming I actually felt something close to (if not exactly), fear. Not quite sadness, but actual fear.

  • i had forgotten how bad the graphics were. still one of my favorite games though.

  • BITCH HAD IT COMING. XD GO SEPHIROTH!!!

  • Yup. Cried like a bitch when the music started playing. Some man I am.

  • I wish they could make it into better animation :( then it would b hella kik ass!?!

  • @SKuLLiTAxVAMP you must've been born after 97

  • this games in a safe i play it once a year ^_^

best fucking video game ever mad

im a guy and you have to admit this scene makes you cry or atleast tear up !

best game out of the entire series !

  • No man tears were shed in this video. My tears were little sissy girl tears and I bawled my eyes out to this scene and to the best game EVER MADE!

  • I swore to God that I would kill Sephiroth after that scene

  • Anybody else agree that the BGM would be better and more emotional if it were played on bagpipes?

  • i bought all the CDs just to remember the game even from ps3 store.a game thats always on memory

  • Comment removed

  • WHY FABIAN? WHY IN HELLS NAME DID YOU SPOILED THIS TO ME??????

  • I remember reading somewhere that you can see sephiroths body projected by the light onto the platform aeris is kneeling on...is that true? Bc I can't see it

  • This always brings me to tears, I still find it odd that she has no blood though.

  • I'm not sure which is more sad, this scene or the ending where Meryl dies at the end of Metal Gear Solid, I guess the MGS one wasn't canon, but it was still sad. And another thing is that I knew about this happening before I even knew who Aeris was.

  • @Saxazzkicker totally!

  • @jango5519 it was really sad to people who played the game and really liked her character. Another thing is that people who didn't know she was going to die were just shocked because it was completely unexpected.

  • one of the most emotional part of the game =(

what i don't get: why can i still buy weapons for aerith AFTER she died???

  • No matter how old i get or how many times i see this, i always cry.

  • no blood lol

  • @spicandspamful you don't have to be a dick about it geeez.

  • what they ran out of phoenix downs?

  • no offense or anything, but what makes this so sad?

  • phoenix down!!!

  • Sorry to spoil the moment but that water is clear as !

  • I knew what was going to happen to Aerith while playing this game, which was unfortunate to say the least, and I still choked up during this scene. I was okay at first, but when Cloud was putting her in the water, that was too much for me.

  • Comment removed

  • @spicandspamful Dude, the story was beyond amazing. Your just a looser who couldn't get past the first Mako Reactor.

  • One of the only games to make me cry, this is always the part of the game I don't wanna play

  • This... Was the first final fantasy game I have ever cried. I remember crying at this part so hard. I literally had Arieth everywhere I went, trained her around lvl 50 with the best overdrive.... And even now, after 12 years later and watching this again, I still cry.

  • I bought this game a couple of weeks ago on PSN after not having played it in years...

And it's just as compelling and immersive as it was when I was a boy. Truly a great game.

  • Water Ring equipped.

  • My left ear bud, which has been dead or months, turned on right as her glass bead hit the floor :,)

Anyone who hates this game either:

    -Hasn't played/completed it

    -Doesn't have a soul

  • @mailalbinochanchilla That was the White Materia, not a glass bead ;)

  • @mailalbinochanchilla best game ever with the best sound track

  • phoenix down anyone?

  • @gaiiman revives KO... Although i've always thought the same thing ;)

  • wow, this is the best FF... the graphics are crap and that scene was crap...

i dont care if this is ps1.... this death scene is the worst >:C dissapointment much

  • Rest In Peace U.U

  • Well, there's people who think this game overrated... but... 7 isn't overrated. it just have more love, that's all :) People who said that obviously have other game/title as their favorite and that's understandable :)

  • wow! this takes me back in such a strange and vivid way.

  • this game was the best fucking game ever made.

  • As sad as it is, Zack died for a reason; &Aerith died for a reason... they were meant to be together. That is the logic is ll of this... <3

  • This scene is going to be in the 3DS Rhythm game ;)

  • CRYING AGAIN. GODDAMNIT.

  • i wish Aerith never died

  • @witchfira

I'm not sure exactly.. I heard somewhere if you died by Sephiroth's sword. You couldn't ever be brought back to life.

  • I can't wait for the remake!

  • I know this is sad, but why didn't they use a phoenix down?I know it ruins it but still, they should have used a phoenix down on her....

  • @Witchfira Because phoenix down only cures "ko"/HP=0, not DEAD. If you find your manual you'll see.

  • Idk which is more sad Xion's death or Aeris' ... T-T Xions has better graphics but they're both reely sad!

  • oh my god, they kill aeris . . . you bastard!!!!

  • I think half of just what makes this scene so sad is just how Cloud is reacting to it. It's damn heartbreaking.

  • Saddest scene in videogame history...handsdown.

  • @YoungGun66 um no there are far more sad like mother 3's ending the change of albedo and more also ff7 characters kinda suck and aren't very likable and aerith is not an exception.

  • @NinjaMetalic you deserve an appearance from sephiroth.

  • @NinjaMetalic well there's an arrogant statement. FFVII itself had some fantastic characters that completely deconstructed the established cliches of the genre at the time. Unfortunately, those then became cliches themselves but at the time it was very clever. Every character was defined and interesting and arguably the only major flaw was that the translation was kinda sucky. This statement wreaks of "haven't played past the first hour of the game".

  • @Fivebyfive1234 okay i respect your opinion and i think that you have a good point but i just don't really like final fantasy 7's characters and i don't find aerith's death to be super sad but also i prefer the characters of final fantasy 6 PS thank you for not swearing in your response.

  • @YoungGun66 umm... not so sure about that but ok.

  • @YoungGun66

Watch Xions end, its just as sad :'(

  • @shiuy0609 Nah, please dont come up with those Kingdom Hearts fillers

  • @YoungGun66 no haha

  • Anyone have a phoenix down?

  • greatest fuckin game of all time

  • umad

  • @NewZen41 said like a true hero, Cloud who?

  • Flame shield's up, fanboys. :P

  • I still love how this scene invoked so much into people when people criticize FLAT characters to this day; hell, many people who actually loved FF7 are ridiculed and laughed at today simply because of how they claim it's the best in the series when in fact, it's overrated..as HELL. I've played it, and have beaten it-guess what, it's just another FF game in my eyes, and I really find it sad that people find THIS to be the most hear-warming moment in gaming history between an emo and a doll...>_>

  • A well deserved #1 on IGN.

  • is this som kind of fetish hentia porn? 1:01

  • i feel ashamed that i have never played this game -.-

  • i came to this vid after knew that this is IGN's top 1/100 video game moments...

  • Comment removed

  • this was so sad.. because aerith wasnt just some stupid fodder death that you see in most of todays game.. she was a part of the party, and you went on a date with her at that gaming place right before she died.. You felt like you knew her and then boom taken away from you just like that... :(

  • @VanilleAlistair not just that.. she was the last ancient.......

  • who else came here after ign

  • @SuperGhoulman I did, lol

  • @SuperGhoulman this is the best moment in Gaming history, the fact this remains as strong afther 15 years! IGN also choose it

    1) Final Fantasy VII

    2) Metal Gear Solid

    3) Zelda OoT

the best games of all time

  • @SuperGhoulman

    Signs.

  • So sad! I love Aerith!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • isnt there a way to save aeris? i read some where there is. cause later on you get her ultima weapon but with her dying theres no way to give it to her

  • aeris was the best character on ff7

  • greatest game i ever played

  • WHAT the fuck is wrong with you people i mean who likes this??? what happend to this world omfg !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @gamemasterpro99 This, my friend, is - in short - the greatest scene in video-gaming history. And I strongly suggest you stop raging at us: you will annoy a great many people by disrespecting it.

  • @ProCrastiVisionJRD dude WHAT!!!!!!! i mean look at that i dont even understand it they dont even talk wtf........

  • @gamemasterpro99 You don't understand because you don't play the game. Now stop giving disrespectful comments because FF7 was a revolutionary game of its generation.

  • @halloffamer02 never heard of it

  • @gamemasterpro99 Then that doesn't do your name justice. This game popularised the RPG genre in the world. And hell, you don't know COD?

  • @halloffamer02 its just a youtube username u idiot

  • @gamemasterpro99 hmmkay

  • @gamemasterpro99 How old are you? 12? 13?

However old you are, you're clearly not versed enough in video game classics. Don't worry yourself about it: stop watching scenes from old classics, and go and continue playing some Call of Duty bullcrap, or other. I guarantee you will never fully appreciate this, or any other big moment: Aeris' death, Zack's death, the epic battle between Galbadia and Balamb Gardens in FFVIII, the death of Tidus in FFX...

Stick to CoD - you'll understand it more (Y)

  • @ProCrastiVisionJRD actually i am 16 and what is cod`??

  • @ProCrastiVisionJRD

What's ironic is that this game being a so-called "classic" as you say has only caused by far one of the worst strains of fandom ever since, starting WITH this overrated game. I was around as well with this game, read my previous post, but by criticizing whatever he may like, you're only making an ass of yourself when you say THIS scene is "wonderful".

  • @NewZen41 At what point did I criticise CoD? Or any game, at that?

If you played it, and didn't like it, fine - I have nothing against that, and at least you're forming an opinion based on your experience.

That isn't to say I don't strongly disagree with you - but each to their own.

The reason I responded to the initial comment is that @gamemasterpro99 barged his way onto the comment thread with no prior knowledge, and proceeded to rage mindlessly.

  • @NewZen41 And you have to agree - there's no real "thinking" required in CoD, as a good a game as it is :/

  • @ProCrastiVisionJRD

I wasn't agreeing that COD is a wonderful game, it's FAR from even being "original" in the slightest. My gripe is that if this is a very touching moment, when it was virtually 3 flat characters in a usual cliche of a story, it doesn't surprise me that COD is a game that's as loved as it is, because sad to say, 7 is overrated.

  • @NewZen41 I agree that, at this point in the game, characters hadn't been developed hugely: it was only the end of disk 1! But what made Aeris' death so powerful was the ROLE she had played in Cloud's story. She was a likeable character, and her storyline integrated her quite securely into the group.

Also, I disagree when you say it's "cliche:" it may be cliche now, but character death has become such a focal point in storylines for games, by that argument it's hard to find a story that ISN'T.

  • @NewZen41

And you said earlier on that you've played and beaten the game: when was that?

Serious question: I find it hard to believe that anyone could call it "just another FF game" at the time of its release - what with the huge advances it made in areas such as graphics and gameplay. Perhaps you played it a while later, after experiencing later FFs, or other games LIKE CoD/Halo/Gears of War?

I'm not trying to talk down to you or anything, btw - just trying to find out why you feel as you do :)

  • I'll be fucking damned if anyone ever tells me that this was not the greatest game of it's generation, and still probably one of the greatest games ever made. Fed up of jumped up skyrim fans telling me, SKYRIM SKYRIM SKYRIM!! yes, Skyrim is fucking great, I love it tbh. However at it's time FFVII was amazing, better than what Skyrim is in it's time.

  • @saindst ff7 today is still a better game than skyrim today. seriously, you go play ff7 you see just how much love is in that game, every other game just fades away into nothing. skyrim has no emotion. ff7 was full of it. i havnt played ff7 for maybe 10 years but i still wake up humming barrets theme.

  • *continued from earlier comment*

But that's just me being all scientific and stuff. I mean, it really is sad that Aerith just suddenly...was killed like that. Though I can't have the same emotional impact because I've never played any Final Fantasy games. Aerith's theme is pretty, however.

  • Something bothers me about Aerith's death. Based on the location of Sephiroth's sword when it pierced Aerith's body, he shouldn't have hit anything that would have instantly killed her. It went through her lower abdomen, whereas her vitals (such as her heart) are located higher up. Obviously the people at Square didn't look at a human's anatomy when they made this scene. Aerith SHOULD have lived for at least an hour before dying of eventual blood loss, based on the location.

  • She was so annoying. Jealous of Tifa. Her death can't be avoided so don't try... but u can see her ghost for a split second. Anyway, my sister cried at this scene lol I thought it was effing awesome w the graphics (At the time)

  • Each time i play this episode is really sad……

  • aeris? ha! im glad that bitch died.

  • "Beacause, you are... a puppet." Gotta love FF7's translation. But I cried my ass off in 4th grade over this.

  • poor aerith... =(

but what i don't get is: why can i still buy weapons for aerith AFTER her death?!?!

does that mean that we might avoid her deathscene? but i think that's impossible huh?...

  • REMAKE REMAKE DAMN IT REMAKE!!! The company would make loads more money with a remake then with a new final fantasy game.

  • Sephiroth is a Kefka wannabe. He's a total poser. I HATE HATE HATE HIM, and EVERYBODY Who LIKES THIS WHITe HAIRED PANSY (insert Kefka laugh)

  • @Thanquol180 A little emotional, huh? FF7 is what sold the PS I believe, but it is important to remember that while Sephiroth tries to destroy the world...Kefka fucking did. He didn't have a reason either, he was just simply batshit. Much scarier.

  • @Numonkei yeah, a little emotional. I also love how Kefka rose to power and i feel he is much more human than Sephiroth, and his lack of maturity is also enticing. He also is nuts which is even cooler. And yes, he destroyed the world, which really can't be said of any other video game (or even movie) villains.

  • Meh, I had more emotions watching Cid realize his life's dream of going to space in the rocket.

  • @Anotora you meant the part when he stopped the whole operation to save (insert her name)? If it is, then you're right, that part was epic

  • I think FF7 is completely revolutionary in so MANY aspects, to name a few:

    1. the use of choir music for the final battle (Sephiroth's 2nd form: One Winged Angel)

    2. the Summons' awesome graphics (remember people, in that time, it was a HUGE transition from Super Nintendo/SNES-tiny bits graphics into THIS one!!),..not to mention Sephiroth's Supernova!!

    3. the complex (& also very 'religious'-related) storyline & theme.

that's why I still give highest kudos to FF7,..even still now!!

  • @nikiwonoto i diagree with your 2nd point, it is only revolutionary because it is from 2D to 3D. If you compare it to other games at the time, its graphic wasn't that impressive

  • if you guys want her back use a cheatcode. this scene touched me too but it is kind of a good thing they got rid of her. her limit breaks were way too overpowered having her throughout the way would have been way too easy

  • @shadowknight95 Agree.

  • Too bad that the fanboys ruined the moment, now this scene is a joke.

  • Like if when this first happened to you, you reloaded the game and tried everything to try and avoid it!

Dammit Sephiroth, she was my group healer!

  • amanita muscaria

  • na ich bin nackt

  • Sephiroth:"I'm going to kill U!"

    Aeris:" Cloud...This guy are sick."

  • They should definitely remake this game for PS3.

  • I never really understood why this was so sad. It's a pity that Aeris died and that Sepy attacked her, but I never felt attached enough to care. And the way they made her stick like glue to you close to her death annoyed me a bit. I suppose I'll be called a FFVI fanboy for this, but the emotional scenes in that actually struck me. The cheesy lines in this didn't help much either. I do love FFVII but this is one of the few part that I didn't like. Just wanting to know if anyone agrees with me.

  • @Safros9 i agree with you. I wasn't so sad watching this scene (maybe because i knew it may happen?) but as far as my "character deaths" experience go, i was never get upset with a character's death whose i didn't get attached with, and i don't think Square really did a good job developing the character of Aeris to that level. Tifa's death would be more upset imo, she has much more of a character than aeris

  • fucking predictable because EVERYONE TALKS ABOUT IT!!!!! Also, I hate this game compaired to FF6 or FF3 here in the U.S. It was all about whinny characters no one cared about and it was so predictable! (cloud and sepharoth suck btw) I say that I was playing a better depressing game at the time! (COUGH COUGH METAL GEAR SOLID COUGH COUGH!)

  • this is been remade for the 3ds sourse go nintendo

  • Even though the Final Fntasy series is pretty much horrible... This is probably the WORST final fantasy game ever. I laughed when she died probably because of how cheesy her death scene is. LOL

  • final fantasy VII was overrated, Aerith was a useless shit head who had no emotional attachment to anyone in the party, especially cloud

  • Cloud: Why did you kill Aerith!? Why!?

Sephiroth: Her final limit break is too damn awesome to be used in our final battle.

    Cloud: SEPHIROOOOOTTTH!!!

  • alright Vincent I guess you've seen tons of dead girls... of course thats why you cassually wal* away FUC*

  • this so sad T.T

  • na ich bin nackt

  • This didn't make me sad the first time I saw this. I was anticipating it, believe it or not. I did feel angry and felt like shit afterwards and almost died on the fight.

  • I play this game once a year, every year without fail since its release. This one scene made me want to get everyone to Lvl99 and kick the fucking shit out of everyone. Without doubt, the best story, the most captivating, the most emotional, the most addictive, the greatest game of all time.

  • I'd love to see them redo thise scene with modern graphics. It'd be so beautifully sad.

  • when areris died i cried so much that my eyes where red by the way im a guy

  • @megasimon989 its normally its happen when u hook on the chracters..all my fav. but when she died i was like duuuude! you killed her..

  • Am I the only one here who absolutely hated Aerith?
