There were three major things that drove me crazy about the movie. One was how lightning bolts gave Saphira a giant 10 second growth spurt. The second was the smoke monster at the end. The third was that stupid song that it seemed like they played during the whole entire movie. @fantezie if you enjoyed HP and LOTR you'd probably enjoy the inheritance series. the language can get a bit thick sometimes, in the sense that christopher likes descriptions and big words, so it can get pretentious too. but it's definitely worth reading, and it's not a carbon copy of LOTR, it's something different. and he has some really cool concepts built in there. so yeah, give it a shot. but you probably want to get them from the library as opposed to buying them because they're expensive.

this story (the first one anyway) seems like a mixture of all the best fantasy stories... it's an ok book but i'm almost halfway into it and haven't seen anything particularly original about it yet. (i was even curious as to whether it really WAS a different world than lotr, with all that talk about the elves coming over the see from the WEST) but i suppose i shouldn't be too harsh on it since many of these things have simply become fantasy cliches. it's a decent book, not such a great movie...

ok i'll admit complaining about people's HAIR COLOR is a little extreme, but you're always going to get specific complaints when it comes to a book-to-movie film. I personally thought the lord of the rings films were excellent, though i was well aware their differences from the books. People need to understand how difficult it is to make a film, especially when you are trying to base it on a book that is obviously longer and more extensive.

Eragon was the worst waste of time I've ever spent. NOT because i haven't seen worse flicks, but because I saw it decades ago: It's Star Wars ep. IV:

1. Prinsess steals something from emperor (not seen in film). Dark knight (vader) catches princess. Princess makes artifact go away. Young boy finds artifact, Boy meets old strranger (kenobi/irons), learns the force, boy saves princess in the death star. Kenobi dies. Boy & princess escape to the rebel base and make a desperate stand.

Yeah. Actually, the official reason that they aren't making Eldest is what I told you. Truthfully though, I'm not even sure the director read the second book before making the movie of Eragon. Numerous things he cut from Eragon are massively important to the Eldest plot, and I don't think it would have even been possible to make a second movie that even resembled the book.

Eldest, the sequel, isn't going to be made into a film due to the mediocre box office success and the hatred of the movie by many critics and fans of the book. I guess you're going to have to read the books...You'll find them far superior to the film. It is such a disappointment. They could have made such a better movie if they had stuck to the book! I could go on forever about how this movie doesn't measure up to the books. What were they thinking? There were lots of scenes that would have looked really cool in a movie that were completely overlooked. They've also screwed themselves out of making a movie for Eldest since they omitted and altered key plot elements. It could have been such a great movie and it wasn't, very frustrating!

They did have King Hrothgar in the movie, but you can't tell it's him. The dwarves, urgals, and elves looked way too human. The urgals are supposed to be bow-legged creatures with horns. In the movie, they were sumo wrestlers with war paint; no attempt to make them look not human.

Part 2 is called ELDEST. I wish that Eldest will stick with the book. In Eragon they went to far away. The movie wasnt as good as the book. And the fight with Durza, it was on ground. (Book 3 and 4) Not long ago, Christopher Paolini the author of "Eragon" and "Eldest" announced he would write a fourth book instead of three. The third book is set to be release on September 23, 2008. Now the Inheritance trilogy is now called the Inheritance cycle.
