@jiggermanfishing This was a fan made video for a class in 08, the song itself was on the album "Stillmatic" by Nas. Go check it out if you haven't already, its a great album!
@Ilovelamp515 hell yea mf doom and all that is dope..nobody knows about tht..but yea pac was a poet..plain and simple..wasnt the best to listen to his shit at a club like bigg..but to listen on a solo mental level, thats were his lyrics shine..
Listen to this song forreal take heed too this shit everybody wants to rule the world. But if people learn to stand together as a united front we can do any thing. Like nas said @ 2:00 There shouldnt be no body homeless how can the president fix other problems and he aint fix home yet. a this hatin aint gotta last for ever time everybody of every nationality, race, relegion, or, background we aronly hurting ourselves 1 man kill another now its two gone one in the ground one in the jail
Hiphop is a big part of the Young African American Culture, not sayin that its not for other races or cultures but anyone who loves hiphop has to respect where hiphop came from. Just like southern rappers pay respect to up north rapper such as KRS1 and Rappers delight. Other cultures and races should pay that same respect to the The African Americans Culture because your adapting to our nature.
I would love it if Nasty Nas made a comeback and left all of this activist nonsense out of his rhymes. His message is a great one, but drop the bullshit and be an entertainer again.
@StillerStiller03 no i didnt put Notorious in that list and thats how i wanted it. i do not believe that biggie is a top 5 rapper. i do believe in the top 10 tho. if biggie was still alive, no one would put him there and thats just the truth. im not trashing biggie small by any means i liked his music and still do.
@JKboi27 No. Black Thought, Andre3000, Common, Slick Rick, Cool Calm Pete, Kno, Natty, Mr. Lif, WU TANG, Mobb Deep, Biggy, Blu are all much better for a start. But Pac was average. Not bad, not great. Just average.
It was a class that explained how hip hop in general, not just as a music genre, has defined a generation. We also discussed how hip hop and can used as a positive image rather than how media likes to twist the negative aspects of it. It was a 1 credit elective that I felt was a step in the right direction for hip hop.
@CJagged not exactly true. hip hop spans across all races and backgrounds. while it maybe stated that hip hop is dominated by african americans, today, its an art form that looked past your skin color and heritage to bring people together. but like everything, hip hop does have an ugly side that you see on tv or hear on the radio.
by using your logic, i guess you can say classes that cover African American history would be considered a form of affirmative action which i simply cannot agree to
@JKboi27 you are absolutely correct. hip hop is an art form that spans many different backgrounds and races. but Hip Hop in my opinion has only been used as a form of activism by the African American community. Hip Hop is a very different thing today as it was 20-25 years ago, and because of that, it is not as resounding a genre as it used to be. I do understand where you are coming from, and thank you for your kind reply. =)
@JKboi27 one of the best/deepest hip hop songs just wish we could hear more tracks like these today ones that addresses problems happening in todays society. thanks nas for keeping hip hop alive
thanks JKboi27 for making this video! great interpretation of nas's song
@JKboi27 not sure if i got everything right, just want to state though that i'm from Poland, i listen to rap and there are lot of polish rappers and lot of people listening to them next to NAS and other artists from States. So agree, HH might have started in USA, but now it's living its own independant life all across the globe.
nas gives props to tupac in some of his songs. im going to be a little controversal and say that i think that nas is actually better than tupac. not that tupac was bad, it's just that i prefer nas more.
aaaahhhh i remember this song my mother used to listen to it all the time when i was little and i thought that the one i listened to was tears for fears not nas!!!!!!
But then comes foes, I have to gaurd it with missels
And I become the most wanted" wow Nas wrote this a decade ago and yet the US govt. still ended up destroying the middle east for their natural resource.
@phudichat that is one of the best things about Nas' lyrics. as long as this earth spins, and the human race still exists, his lyrics will be relevant. Nas' lyrics can, and will transcend time itself.
