You are not crazy. Jesus through his disceples and through Paul took His message to the Pagans, and thus their language and their holidays become mixed in with what they received as rebirth from the baptism of blood via Christ sacrifice. Now we worship everywhere, and we do not worship the old gods whom we never knew, but the one true God whom we know intimately via the indwelling of the Holy Spirit. The rest of it is just folklore and fun.
